The school markets itself as a place for gifted and talented children, but it did not live up to that for us on any front. In our experience the school was poorly run and the teaching staff came across as dismissive and out of their depth, both academically and in handling our child's day-to-day needs. Basic professionalism and communication felt absent throughout. Our most serious concern was a bullying situation in our son's class that the school, in our view, failed to take seriously or handle responsibly. We felt the warning signs were ignored and the severity downplayed, and our son was left to cope largely on his own. The emotional impact on him is something we're still working through. We have also filed formal complaints with the relevant oversight bodies, which are currently under review. We did not find this to be an environment that challenges or nurtures bright children, or one where we felt our child was safe and supported. I would strongly encourage other families to look closely and ask hard questions before enrolling.

The teachers are living up to the reputation and standards we were so invested in when we moved our family here. Our kid comes home happy every day, and is getting an exceptional education with a comprehensive, holistic, and challenging approach. Most of the time at Mack, the kids are outside in a beautiful, expansive campus beneath the watchful eye of the mountains. There's a lot to love. Nothing about this year (plus) has been easy for any of us, but it's impossible to imagine ourselves and our child without Mack.

Both of my boys have attended Shelton Elementary and it seems to get better and better every year!…read moreThe kids have so many opportunities here, they have wonderful programs to keep kids moving, they don't over do it with fundraisers , and last year the kids even got to get slimed by Nickelodeon for their National Day of play. The staff is extremely friendly, teachers are very hands on and they are currently operating with an app called Class Dojo that lets you see pics of your kids throughout the day, get reports on their behavior, and can message the teachers all in one place. When it comes to Elementary schools, this one takes 1st place. It really is an amazing school the proof is in the reports. A+ on my list!

Laura the director and Stacey the assistant director are wonderful. The directors are really what made me choose this center over others in the area. These people help their staff, students and parents (they don't just sit in an office all day). They actually know each child who attends their school which I did not get on any other tours we had with other preschools. My son (who is 3) has been at KinderCare for a few months and he is gaining a lot of new skills and learning. If you are just looking for playtime and daycare this may not be the place for you. We were looking for more of a preschool curriculum, and they have not disappointed. The teachers really care about teaching your child. They also have some really cool programs like Soccer Shots (which costs extra). My son gets to take soccer classes while he is in school. They also have a basketball group as well, but we just did soccer for now as he loves it. We currently attend 3 days a week (half days) so they offer a bit of flexibility with schedule (and this helped our budget as well). Meals (breakfast and lunch plus snacks) are included in tuition.

He kept his head down and flew under the radar and was diagnosed with high functioning ASD in 9th grade. TGS knocks down the walls of judgment against neurodiverse kids that exist in public schools and give them new tools to achieve their potential each day in creative ways so that kids learn to express themselves and feel heard and accepted.

My son has been able to get out of his defensive mode (which has obstructed his ability to learn) because he is finally receiving the necessary accommodations for his Aspergers and ADHD learning profile. The school, with its amazing and dedicated staff, has helped him move forward not only with his academics, but has provided valuable tools to help him with his social skills and emotional regulation as well. He looks forward to going to school now and feels grateful to be in a place where he is valued, respected and understood. I felt like I had to fight for my sons IEP at first and have had a couple meetings with the Principal over the last few years. It wasn't until this year when the school called CPS on me because my son came to school with a bruise that I absolutely lost it. My son has come home from the school with bruises on him many times and not even a simple note sent home letting me know what happened. The CPS worker evaluated my house and realized real fast that there was no threat and that my son is in fact autistic. The CPS worker told me to tell the school if they are not reporting any of my sons injuries at school to threaten them with calling the police and opening an investigation. It wasn't until this threat that I started getting updates on my son on almost a daily basis. From my son falling off the chair to slipping off the sidewalk during recess. I really felt like the school should've contacted me before taking such harsh actions knowing for a fact that this is an extremely clumsy child and hurts himself on a daily basis. Last year my son fell off the playground equipment and I got a call home saying that he had and I quote "a small fall" but when he came home with a piece of paper it had stated that he fell 5 feet off the playground equipment onto his head. This is not a small fall and I personally believe that my son should've been taken to the emergency room. After that the instructions stated that if there was any drainage from the ear to seek medical attention right away. When I sent him to school the next day he seem to be find in the morning. It wasn't until after school that his teacher let me know that his ear was draining ALL DAY. My son should've been taken to the hospital right away or at least I should've been notified right away. I do believe that there are some things that need to be put into place to make the school better. There are some exceptional employees here though that I have always gotten along with. For one the lunch ladies are always kind and they treat the children with respect. Ms. Apodaca Is one of the best kindergarten teachers I have met. As for next year my preschoolers will be the only ones attending the school as the school I'm enrolling my other children in does not offer preschool. But my older children will not be going back to this school the following year. Some aspects on the school. There is definitely not enough parking for parents and pick up is crazy! From cars pushing through other cars and cars trying to speed up to not let people get out of parking. I have personally seen car is almost hit children because there is not enough supervision out during pick up time. There is designated parking for the teachers but most times you only see some of the teacher parking filled in a lot of empty spots in the teachers park out on the road were a parent should be parking to pick up students. This makes it extremely hard for parents to find parking when it is time to pick up their students. There has been times where I've had to park anywhere from a block to two blocks away just to walk and get my child from school. I do believe that more teachers need to be spread out around the school during drop off to make sure that the children are crossing the road safely and that cars are following the rules. I also believe that there should be a teacher out that helps the flow of traffic. To make sure that cars can get out of the parking in the cars park not in the middle of the street but in the designated parking to pick up their children. Having a teacher that keeps constant flow of this would make it a lot easier on pick up. The school does not have a parking lot for parents which makes it even more dangerous to pick up the students.

They get up excited to go to school which says much for the teachers and staff. Stuckey has the usual grade school stuff-big yard, playground equipment, etc. and any time I have come to pick kids up after school there is always someone out front ready to pounce on tiny miscreants, aleways reminding the kids to cross at the cross walk. I feel good that someone is keeping an eye on the kids. I realize other schools do thisI want to remark on how appreciated their vigilance is...and how good we feel about this grade school.
