Brad was very professional during the entire experience and communicated well through the process. His crew often worked long hours and were punctual. My wife and I really appreciated Brad's knowledge and creative thinking and would give great ideas when we were stuck on how to remodel certain areas of the house. I personally struggled with envisioning how each room would look after the remodel and Brad did excellent at walking me through each process of the rooms to help me develop a clearer picture of the end product. I plan on using Western Idaho Builders (Brad) on my next big project of remodeling our personal home as well. Services performed: Installed new doors, moved doors around, moved walls around, built a landing with stairs leading to the back yard, painted inside / outside, removed cement stairs and blended wall with house, framed garage door, installed new lights. I had new flooring put in my a different company but Brad did the floor prep and did a great job for the floor installers. The project was completed just over a week past the projected completion time but I primarily put the blame on the painters for this. One slight negative to the project was the painters were not very punctual, had to come back multiple times, and I am not sure the quality of paint was what I paid for due to how easily it is to scratch the paint with my fingernail on accident. The painting itself was a good job and looked very professional. Painters were subcontracted by Brad and not completed by his crew.

Having heard horror stories from friends who had remodeling work done, and being a stickler for…read moredetail, I've long been reluctant to have much needed upgrades done on my home. That changed when water damage in my mother-in-law's house sent me on a search for a reliable contractor. We are so fortunate to have found Merrick Construction. Justin is a pleasure to work with, is incredibly detail-oriented, and does quality work. The results are exactly as we want them to be and when we don't know what we want, Justin helps us to understand the different options and tradeoffs to be made. Even beyond the job at hand, he would provide professional advice to help us plan future upgrades. What started as an office repair and remodel at my mother-in-law's house, led to a partial home remodel, ADA modification to a bathroom, lighting upgrades, flooring upgrades and painting. We were so happy with the result that we hired Justin and his team to remodel 2 bathrooms, kitchen and electrical upgrades, windows, doors, and even the removal of a dilapidated deck in the backyard of my home. Clear communication, good documentation, and a customer service mindset round out the package. You will not be disappointed with Merrick Construction!

The quality of his team and his work is exceptional and we ended up with a fantastic new master bathroom. His designs tend toward contemporary and coastal which fits the vibe of Carlsbad and the surrounding area. He is attentive and at the job consistently which was important to us after having previous contractors who didn't always show up, or, sent their team and didn't come to oversee the work. Our job involved moving our shower, changing out windows and re-doing the bathroom from the ground up. We went from a dated, non functional bathroom to a modern, beautiful and highly functional bathroom that is now a feature of our house and is enjoyable to use. I highly recommend Drew and his team.

Steve was very friendly and educational on what he was going to do vs what other contractors do, cutting cost and efficacy. I asked about prices. Steve wasnt extremely low on price, trying to get the job not was he ridiculously expensive. We scheduled a couple days out and he arrived at his scheduled time. (We had the bathroom tile installed, backsplash removed and installed, sub-floor/laminate ripped out, base boards cut and installed and a new toilet added) Steve got to work with his son, cleanly. I left him at my house alone Bc I had to go to work. I had valuables on the counter and not one thing was touched or missing. Steve was communicative through the whole process, even when I was not at home. I asked questions throughout and he gave me choices. I am EXTREMELY pleased and excited with the work. I'm OCD so inspected every inch of his work. All the fine details are perfect (grout is even, cuts are straight, nicely cleaned up the work area).
