We absolutely adored our time at Vancouver Studios & I agree with the last 2 most recent reviews…read more We just returned from a 16 day trip that began in London, Eurostar to Belgium & ended in Amsterdam/Breda Netherlands, the first 5 nights here. I learned of VS from Rick Steve's forum where it is highly regarded with few complaints. I feel that the setting & rooms match the photo's that are online. We were not on a budget & I felt that for 6 days having the balcony to escape to would be nice, so we booked the King room with balcony. Despite emailing prior to confirm a King bed, it was not a King, more like a Queen in the US (not even 2 twins that would create a King). But that was really the only disappointment other than the bar not being open for cocktails on our Saturday evening before 8pm..who knows ! Our room was a spotless studio with very high ceilings and huge paneled windows that pushed up to open and allow us to enter the balcony, 1st floor, over looking a very calm and quiet street of similar white row houses. The bathroom was ok, no counter space at all but a large ledge over the toilet to store items..The shower water pressure was excellent. The room itself was very quiet, even facing out front. We did not feel that the walls were thin or that there was any noise to be heard. Very peaceful area, nothing like the rest of the areas that we visited around the city. There was always a delightful evening or night person sitting right at the front desk, this is also where you would turn over your key if all persons were leaving the room..this seemed a bit odd, but at least we had no chance to misplace our key. It also fit into the mild feeling that we were in Season 2 of The White Lotus...the daytime folks could have stepped right onto that Yacht !! Steps from 2 major Tube stops as mentioned and busses as well, the helicopter for Kensington Palace grazed right over us. Kensington & Hyde Parks are also close by and a bunch of lively pubs & souvenir type shops out on the main road. Easy to reach via the Elizabeth line from Heathrow. We are looking forward to returning & agree that we would stay here without hesitation.

Looking at the reviews on this site one can see that they are at least 7 years old. Please ignore…read morethem. Spent 5 nights here with my family in July 2023 and all I have is praise for this well run boutique hotel in an amazing location!! Clean hotel, a friendly and accommodating staff and management. Plus great value for the money. This is where I will stay in London in the future

As first-time visitors to London, we were truly excited to explore the city and immerse ourselves…read morein the local culture. Unfortunately, our experience at Phoenix Hotel fell far short of our expectations. Upon arrival at the hotel after a long flight , we were surprised by the scorching heat in London, with temperatures soaring into the 90s. Our disappointment began when we checked in and were informed that our room was not ready, despite our exhaustion from the journey. While waiting in the lobby, we found the lack of air conditioning uncomfortable, and the restricted airflow due to the windows being fixed in place made the situation worse. We found out the whole facility do not have AC and even the small fan provided was insufficient to alleviate the heat. Furthermore, the cramped hallways, minimal amenities, and low water pressure in the shower added to our discomfort. The noise from the windows rattling in the wind made it challenging to get a restful night's sleep. The issues with ice availability and inconsistent information from your staff regarding this matter only added to our frustration. Then only reason got 2 stars because of the night crew in the lobby. Thank you for the ice you provided us that night although the lady during breakfast said there's no ice because the machine been broken although night shift gave us some 4 hours ago. Regrettably, due to the unpleasant conditions and unsatisfactory service experienced during our first night, we made the decision to cut our stay short and relocate to another hotel. While the affordability of Phoenix Hotel is commendable and great location and close to everything , the overall quality of the facilities and services leaves much to be desired.

The front desk staff were very helpful and great in answering questions. The cleaning staff did a superb job during the 4 days. Our room was very tidy throughout. You could spend $600-800 a night at the Ritz, but why? The hotel is located next to a street that has almost every different cultural food and restaurant you could want to have nearby. Parking a rental car has some on the street options very closeby. Overall, I am very glad for coming here to the Phoenix and would stay again when passing through London.

Very simple and basic but great for me. Excellent location, quite convenient, few minutes walk to the beautiful park and two tube stations. Nice staff. The room itself was large, which surprised me because I was traveling solo. It was clean & quite lovely. Some of the impartial reviews are ridiculous. My room was updated, quiet, & the beds were comfortable. Yes, beds, I had two beds in my room. The breakfast was more than I expected & delicious. I would definitely stay here again. The location is an absolute dream. It's a five minute walk to the underground (tube) & the train station. The underground was difficult because it's not handicapped accessible. If you cross the street to the train station, it's easier to take the tube. So many souvenir shops on each street, which was overwhelming for a shopaholic like me lol. Many good restaurants, markets, & it's 20 minutes by tube or bus to Central London. Seriously, this is a must place to stay. You won't regret it. A word to the wise, invest in a high quality hooded rain poncho & keep it with you 24/7.

Restaurant was closed, lobby closed. Entrance was closed and instead they had a narrow walkway. It looks like they've converted a room Into a "lobby" which only seats about 7 people...ridiculous! The bar was quite expensive. Apparently the television system is also being updated so many features did not work. The staff was friendly but certainly didn't go out of their way to make any arrangements to accommodate guests. The lift on the ground floor is also no accessible leaving us to carry all baggage up a heafty flight of stairs. On a positive, the room itself was quite nice and the beds were very comfy. Probably more important is that we didn't find the location to be very convenient. It's quiet here but a long way (and $30 pound can ride in traffic) to the theater district or Covent Gardens. I'd recommend staying closer to the action

Location, location, location. This hotel is literally around the block from the Bayswater Tube…read morestation and a block or two down from Queensway. It's also two to three blocks from Hyde Park (if you couldn't guess by the name). There are tons of hotels in the Bayswater area. It's kinda like staying in Midtown NYC or near Michigan Avenue in Chicago---lots of tourists and stuff marketed to tourists---tons of souvenir shops, fast food, Starbucks, etc. Whiteley's mall is a few blocks away as well---note: there is a reasonably priced internet cafe there so you can stay connected. It's also VERY reasonably priced for a hotel in central London. I booked a single room (single = twin bed) for four nights (including full breakfast) for about $250. What a steal! However, for any Americans reading this, let me school you on European hotels. Do not assume private bathroom---read amenities, if it doesn't say en suite or private, it probably doesn't have one. Just warning you so you don't end up like Ellen Griswold inviting a stranger into your bubble bath. Nevertheless, Hyde Park Towers does have private bathrooms, or I should say closets. Teeny tiny bathrooms. So small that I had to prop the door open to be able to stand at the sink and had to straddle the pedestal sink to use the toilet. But I'll take teeny tiny to myself than larger with company. My actual room was small, but comfortable. Twin bed, desk, armoire, mirror and a hutch for luggage. Small television with some cable too. Hairdryer included, so I didn't have to worry about bad hair in the already soggy climate or adapter issues. However, there is no clock in the room so I had to use my cell phone to keep track of time. The breakfast was good. They offer a breakfast buffet, but my reservation included a full breakfast. I overslept one day and missed it, oops. There is a restaurant on site, but I didn't eat there. Also, I want to note that there is an elevator so you don't need to haul luggage upstairs. The front desk was friendly and I had no problems checking in or out. The room was cleaned each day, but the housekeepers were loud so I couldn't enjoy sleeping in too late. (Which is just as well, I'm there for London NOT for sleep) The street view of the hotel is just what you expect of London and is really pretty. In the end, it's a nice, but not fancy, good bargain in Bayswater. I would definitely consider staying again considering the price and location.

I lived…read moreand worked in Soho for twenty years before moving to Devon about three years ago; and I thought I knew just about all the cool places in London. Then I came back last weekend for a Talking Heads gig and found this place on recommendation. For the same price as a bland corporate hotel room you get all this. Rooms utterly stuffed full of antiques, a free bar at night, (thus encouraging you not to take the piss!) totally cool staff, central location and each room totally unique. And all hidden behind the mysterious red door.It was so good i did not even make it down for breakfast, and what an utterly civilised time breakfast is laid out until! I stayed here last September with my sis and two friends for the weekend because we had booked to see Prince in the O2 centre and I didn't think for one minute that the experience in the hotel would match or come cose to the Prince gig, but it bloody well did and then some! The hotel is swish and swanly and filled with gorgeous antiques and the rooms are lavish and oppulent and make you feel like a kingor a queen. It's £150 a night per room but the beds are big enough to share if you like the people in your group. Every evening at six the guests are invited down to the lounge for complimentary drinks. That means that the drinks are FREE! You can just help yourself from the drinks cabinet! And after that, say if you get in from a night out and want to party on, you can help yourself to the cabinet as long as you replace the next day. For real! When I stayed, there was a party going on when me and the girlies got back from our night out and we were invited to join - everyone there is so friendly - and we had an absolute blast. Evan Dando from the lemonheads was there! Got to bed at 11 the next morning! The Sunday night, after the Prince gig, the night porter got us a Pizza menu and we orderd take out at 1am! We shared with the porter because he had been so good, and sat up in the oppulent lounge, chowing down on pizza and listening to Prince's new album on the music system (which you can use to your heart's content unless you're stupid and turn it up really loud). Also, breakfast is a help yorself continental affair which stays out until around mid day, so there's no need to get up early. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. If you want to or have to stay in London, you'd be MAD not to give Miller's a ring and see if there's a room free.
