Vancouver Studios really felt like home!
I stayed here for three weeks upon moving to London and looking for a flat, and it really became my little home. I stayed in two rooms and both had all the amenities you could need as a transient - kitchenette, dish and cookware, laundry, luggage holding, etc. The decor was not 5-star, but hey, neither is my decor at home, so it kind of lent to the homey, or as the Brits say, homely, feel of the place. Look for the the miniature suit of armor and carefully placed riding boots!
The daily cleaning service was wonderful - even did our dishes, which we didn't expect - and left us wonderful little cookies everyday. The reception at the front desk was also great - took care of a few little glitches no problem, and was some of the best customer service I've experienced in London yet.
The neighborhood is fine, though fairly touristy. Grocery store is a five minute walk, and Bayswater and Queensway stations are also just a short jaunt away. It's perfect for getting around to Central London.
The only reason I don't give it five stars is because both of our rooms were facing onto the garden, which normally would have been great, but the garden also happens to be where people take their smoke breaks. Every hour or so we would need to close our window to keep out the smoke-y smell.
Overall, great place that will leave a positive impression and not too big a dent in your wallet. read more
