We accidentally overloaded the circuit in our bedroom because of it by using a power strip from the single outlet and it shut down all of the power to the outlet and TV. The staff was quick to come up to take a look and fix the issue. They let us borrow their adapter. I did make use of the water provided at the front desk. The lobby seems to be a hang out place for studying and free wifi. There was an instance where sat down in the lobby momentarily just to figure out my destination and the staff immediately poured me some water. We asked for a double, which was 2 single beds pushed together, which split apart and I fell down the middle just as the maid walked in, without knocking, which I found rude. We weren't given a "do not disturb" sign or anything. Anyway, what she walked in on, made her leave quickly, (lol). Also the rooms aren't en-suite, it's one bathroom per 4 rooms, but that's not too much of a hardship. The hotel itself as a whole really isn't too bad. Its good value, and in a decent location, but if they just put some new carpet down, got some new curtains, bedding and furniture, maybe threw in a few double beds or king size beds, or even just a lick of paint here and there, it'd be superb. If I was really lost for choice, I'd stay there again without too much protest. It's fine if you just need somewhere to sleep whilst visiting the capital.

I did not know it until today when I tried to book a stay this July. The Operations Manager told me he could do nothing to remove the wrongful accusations against me. He could rent a private room but not the more affordable dorm bed. The music in the pub is so loud now, it's like St. Christoper's Inn--it's all party and no comfort now. This place has rapidly descended into to a miserable place to rent a dorm bed.

There was a fire evacuation on one of the days we were there and an announcement came on the loud speaker informing us to leave and staff members guided us to the exit quickly. The buffet breakfast was nice with omelets by request, a variety of hot and cold items (bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, baked beans, pancakes/waffles, fresh fruit and vegetables, juices, cereal, yogurt, pastries). We took the train into the King's Cross station, where you can take the bus or walk over. And there were nights we came back from the Angels station. And finally when we left, we left from Pancras International which was across from King's Cross Station. Upon check in staff was nice, checked if we had food allergies, and gave us their delicious Doubletree cookies. We were given a 1 bed room on the 5th floor, which is their top floor. For my friends in the states, this is equivalent to the 6th floor because in London the first floor is 0 or ground floor. The elevators, or as they call it, the lifts were small in space. It can fit about 4-5 people without luggage or maybe 2-3 people with luggage. I liked that you needed to scan your room card to access the elevators, but I didn't like how our cards kept getting deactivated. Staff told me it can't be near phones or credit cards or it will deactivate. Pretty silly cause the card is card size made for wallets. I have been to many hotels and even many DoubleTrees all over the world, and this was the first time my card deactivated, and multiple times, during my trip. As for the room, it was very tight for 2 people. It would still be tight for one person. There was only one side table. Barely any space for 1 piece of luggage. The bed was hard and the pillow was flat. The TV only had local channels and the guide didn't even display what the channels were. Other hotels I have been to lately all have streaming options these days. There was a mini fridge that wasn't too cold and a blow dryer. The bathroom was so cramped it was hard to maneuver around. Barely any counter space. Good thing I have a hanging toiletries bag to give myself extra space and prevent my belongings from getting wet. Overall, the location is the main selling point about this hotel. Being walkable to nearby main stations is important when travelling.

Another guest has already been been packed off to Docklands for the same reason. How can you not have a room available that I booked and paid for 2 months ago. I have a train booked to return home tomorrow at 10:40. I'm told I cannot sleep on the sofa as they will kick me out!!!!!!! They can't offer me another option. I am over 100 hundred miles from home!!!!! I will never book with this hotel chain again but, guess what, this review will make absolutely no difference to the way they operate!!!!! They " the management" don't give a shite about it's customers!!!!! Or cash cows as they would see us. Don't book this hotel, don't book with Travelodge, ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever every. The 1 stars are only because I have to select something.
