The room though is quite lovely. Very modern and clean. Bathroom is a large size with a tiny shower. The bedroom was a good size and we had a double size bed. The staff were polite but didn't seem to be to helpful. We asked some questions about the area and inquired about some hotel services, and they didn't really provide much assistance. Not rude or anything, just not very helpful. Overall very happy with our stay. The only downside was that because of the location we spent quite a bit of money on taxis and Uber to get into town. I'd recommend a stay if you're trying to stay in that area in general. Great on a budget, but it ends up adding up if you factor in the transport fees each day.

I could not imagine paying the base rate of 200 pounds. The hotel is in a decent area. We found that the bus stop directly outside of the hotel was quite convenient, and took us to all the places we needed to go. Vaux Hall Tube Station is about a 6-8 minute walk, which isn't too far. There is also a quick store a block away to get water and snacks. The hotel is overall clean. However, did notice the house keeping declining during our visit. We stayed for a total of 5 nights, and the first two nights were great. Cups were cleaned, the floor was vaccuumed etc. However, after the second day, our cups were not cleaned and stored away. I saw a crumb on the floor before we left for the day, and the same crumb remained when we returned after the room was made. Breakfast: it kind of does the job, but it does get tiring after the third day. it's the same items: powdered scrambled eggs, british sausage, your usual toast/croissants, cereal, yogurt, canned fruit, coffee. After being there for 5 days, I was over the breakfast items. It would have been niced to just have hard boiled eggs, as the powdered eggs got gross. Oh yea there were also baked beans - I think a british thing. Oatmeal would have been nice too.

When looking for a hotel for our five night stay, there were many affordable options in good areas of London, but in the end we chose 69 The Grove, a lovely B&B in the Vauxhall area of London, and it was a GREAT decision. 69 The Grove is so-called because the address is 69 Vauxhall Grove. It is in the Vauxhall area, which is just south of the Thames. While a bit further away from all the main attractions in London, it was just a five minute walk to Vauxhall Station, on the Victoria Line, and took just 20 to 30 minutes to get to wherever we needed to go. It was a perfect balance of being in a quiet residential area and having quick and easy access to the busier parts of the city. It was also within walking distance of many restaurants, parks, Westminster Abbey, Parliament Square, Lambeth Bridge, and other attractions. I absolutely loved the area. The price of our five night stay was $1,205.35 CAD (including all taxes), and a full English breakfast is included each morning, Monday to Saturday -- an excellent value. While the room was small, it had everything we needed -- a private bathroom, comfy bed, a mini fridge and kettle, and it was clean and quiet. If my budget allows, I want to make another trip to London, and I hope 69 The Grove is still in operation. It was such a pleasant place to stay, and I would not hesitate to go back. The transition was going on during the length of our stay, but the service and accommodations were never lacking. The staff that I interacted with (front desk, concierge, housekeeping, bartenders) were all accommodating and eager to please. The hotel was very clean and modern. The fixtures and furniture were modern and stylish but still comfortable. The bedding and linens were clean and fresh. Housekeeping will come in and straighten your room each day, but they don't change the sheets every day. They will replace used towels with fresh ones which was nice. Right in the middle of London, it is easy walking distance to many, many things - museums, pubs, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Westminster cathedral, and many more. We had a great stay and would not hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended!
