I canNOT give enough praise and stars for this incredible B&B in London. I originally found them on TripAdvisor and am so glad and grateful we got to stay with these wonderfully warm and welcoming people! Kanley & David are some of the warmest hosts you will ever encounter!
Set in a beautiful Victorian square with picturesque beautiful homes. It's a quiet square - hardly any cars. The owners originally bought the house and I believe it had 4 or 5 bedrooms in it...which if you know anything about London homes, that is already quite large. They transformed it into a 10 bedroom bed and breakfast. The smallest room is quite "cozy" but really all you'd need! If you prefer a larger room, definitely indicate that in your reservation. They have rooms available that are larger and both en suite rooms and rooms with the bathroom outside. If you are very sensitive to noise, be warned that this is an old Victorian home (though updated beautifully recently) and you will hears creaks and other guests - though when we stayed, no one was too loud), so you may want to ask for a more quieter room. Kanley makes a mean English breakfast every morning (you know, English baked beans, eggs, sausages, toast, tomatoes, mushrooms), but they also serve yogurt, fruit, cereal, etc. It's a tiny lil dining area, but all the more cozy when spending breakfast getting to know travelers from all over the world! Only a few minutes walk to the Vauxhall Tube station..which is NOT far at all from anything central! Only 2 or 3 stops from Buckingham Palace, a stop to the Tate museums, etc.
Kanley (from Jamaica) and David (from Spain) were nothing but accommodating and helpful the whole time! Infectious laughs from Kanley, and soft-spoken David spent his morning helping us get in contact with the train companies after the Tube broke down one morning and we missed our train to Nottingham.
But where they REALLY stood out....we were stuck in London after that snow storm hit and Heathrow shut down (December 18). We couldn't make it to Cape Town for our honeymoon. Sad, frustrated, and angry at BAA (Heathrow operators) and Virgin Atlantic, we were welcome by Kanley & David back into their B&B despite their full capacity. They pulled out all the stops for us and even after I fell incredibly sick (due to standing out in the snow for nearly 24 hours after Virgin wouldn't speak to us and wouldn't let us back into the airport), they took care of me bringing me loads of tea, honey, lemon, etc.
Though the end of our London trip has been quite the roller coaster of emotion, the thing that we knew we were lucky for was a welcoming, warm, and gracious stay at 69TheGrove. We will definitely stay here again whenever we come to London. Thank you to Kanley & David! read more
