My wife and I had the chance to work with Scott on the appraisal of a newly constructed home. Scott's analysis was incredibly thorough and insightful - some of the best inspection work I've seen to date. Thanks to his diligence and care we were able to make the right choice on the home. We'd happily work with Scott again and recommend him to anyone looking for an appraiser in the Austin area! read more

Scott was wonderful to work with and did a meticulous and thorough inspection. He was also generous with his time reviewing the report with me and answering questions. I highly recommend him! read more

Scott was extremely thorough with his inspection. Everything about the entire process has been nothing but top-notch professional and super easy. He explained everything in great detail to me and my agent and highlighted what is important issues to take in the first place. His report is very detailed, he doesn't miss anything and provides as much information as possible about the condition of the house. I would HIGHLY recommend his services to anyone needing a home inspection. read more

I would not recommend using an inspection service that does not have up to date equipment. They inspected my house and said there was high moisture in my walls in the garage. I hired a professional thermal imaging inspector with very expensive calibrated equipment and he found no evidence of this and I have pictures and a report to back this up.! Do not let an inspector tell you there is moisture without a probe moisture detector the ones that just sit on the wall are very inaccurate! He also broke my AC line by pulling to hard on it and all he is supposed to be doing is inspecting things not breaking them! read more

Highly Recommend - I went under contract on a new home on Wednesday night and found Leppin Inspection Services after doing thorough research on Yelp. I went on their website Thursday morning and requested an inspection through the website and Scott reached out to me almost immediately. Much to my surprise, he had an opening and was able to complete my inspection the next day (Friday) and I had the report late Friday afternoon. I really appreciated his prompt support and thorough inspection because the report found quite a few things that needed to be addressed even though it was a new construction. I only write reviews for those who deserve it and Scott at Leppin Inspection Services definitely earned this praise and I highly recommend to others. read more

Mr. Leppin was extremely helpful in explaining his findings. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Scott did an inspection on a house we are planning on purchases. He was thorough yet moved around the house quickly going over every corner and feature. Not only did he create an artifact for purchase negotiation, he also created a list of improvements for the house to make it more efficient and safe. This wasn't just a simple bulleted list, but a detailed PDF with pictures and information on what to improve. Even if you aren't buying a house, having Scott do an inspection of your house every few years is nice insurance on spotting problems before they become bigger problems. Would fully recommend Scott's services to anyone in the Austin area. read more

I have had the pleasure of having Scott inspect two houses for me now: our first home 5 years ago, and our new family home. Scott does an amazing job going through the house in thorough detail. To put in perspective, the inspection done by someone else for our current home's buyer was 15 pages, whereas Scott's inspection of our latest home was 34 pages! He also takes the time to explain all of his findings and elaborates on any questions you have. He is a true professional and I wouldn't have anyone else inspect any of my future homes! read more

Scott was an amazing resource!!!! I highly recommend him for a home inspection because he was very thorough and explained everything well. We were considering purchasing a house in the Katymead subdivision in Pflugerville, but it rapidly became apparent that the house was not well maintained over the years. There were several areas where water damage was evident, the foundation needed repair, the second floor was not level, and the a.c. and water heater were nearing the end of their life. We would have lost a lot of money in repairing the house. Scott (in addition to other repair experts) contributed to our overall understanding of the house 's issues which led us to realize that the house would have been a bad investment. While inspecting the house, he accidentally tripped, fell, and broke a line but he promptly reported and fixed it. read more

Scott did a great job inspecting our new home. The report was in detail and he caught things we wouldn't have seen. Definitely worth hiring him. If you are going to close on a home, make sure you hire him. read more

This review is from the perspective of the owner of the house that was inspected by Scott Leppin. There are three things that led us to this 1 star review. Too bad Yelp does not let us leave a 0 star. 1. The scheduled inspection was last Thursday 8:00 - 11:30 am. We still live in the house, so we had to wake up extra early and be out of the house before 8 am. It was a cold rainy day, and the malls are still close during the times we were out. We ended up spending an hour in Chick-fil-A, and then another hour in Top Golf (which luckily opened at 9 am). At about 10:30 am when we were done at Top Golf and ready to head home, I checked our Ring doorbell. Lo and behold, no inspector has come to do the inspection! I then emailed our broker to ask if the inspection was postponed or cancelled. Our broker's reply said that she contacted the buyer's agent, and the buyer's agent told her that the Inspector made a mistake when scheduling, and that he is headed over to the property right that instant and expected to be done by 2:30 pm! Imagine our frustration - we just wasted our time (and money) eating out instead of preparing breakfast at home, and spending on unnecessary entertainment. 2. When I was about to use the hairdryer that afternoon after the inspection, there was no power coming from the outlets in the master bathroom. We know this was not broken the night before, as we always recharge our Sonicare in that same outlet every night, including the night before. We investigated, checked the breaker, disengaged and reengaged the breaker, etc. After some time, we decided to search the internet and found out that a possible cause is the GFCI could be in Test Mode. We don't know where the GFCI is; good thing after looking for some time, we saw it in the upper bathroom outlet. It was indeed set in Test Mode. Obviously, the inspector had tested the GFCI and FORGOT to reset it. If this had happened to someone else, who knows they could have spent money for an electrician to come, only to find out that it was the Inspector who made the mistake. 3. Our AC in the second floor is set to Fan - Auto. We found out the next day that the Inspector had changed the setting to Fan - On, and the fan has been running for hours until we figured out that the setting was changed. We are now wary that there might be other things that the Inspector could have forgotten to restore to the original setting after the inspection. We hope nothing else was changed or messed up. Scott Leppin left his business card. So, we sent him an email about the GFCI issue that night. We even called his phone number, which was redirected to a call center, and we opened a ticket regarding the GFCI. Until this day, we have not received any reply from Scott. read more

Scott is at the top of my list that I give to my buyers for their inspections. They've always done great work and have been consistent with their reports. He's done numerous properties for me and I'll continue to use him for buyers I have in the future. read more

Scott is incredibly easy to work with. I have worked with him on several inspections for homes. He handled a recent inspection with less than a business day's notice. His inspections and reports are very thorough. He's always been very responsive to questions and is generous with his time. read more

This is the second time we've used Scott, because he did such a great job the first time. Both are investment rental properties of some age, so we wanted a thorough and credible inspection and Scott provided all that and more. His 23 page report included photos and recommendations, referred to current standards, etc. Everything we needed to negotiate with the seller to make the home safe and durable. An investment in Leppin Inspection Services could save you a lot of money for costly repairs later or point out issues that would otherwise be overlooked by the uninformed. Give him a call for your next inspection. read more

I needed a home inspection job done for my first house, and Scott Was the right man for that job. He showed up sharp on time, and despite the rain, he was able to fully inspect the house in a timely manner. He did a thorough inspection and sent me a very detailed report along with photos of everything he found. I am very happy with his services and I would recommend Scott at anytime to anyone looking to have a home inspection job done. He is definitely going to be the man to go to for my future purchases. That was an awesome experience, and you should give him a shot. read more

I'm the Broker with The Gardner Group, Inc., a real estate firm in Austin, TX since 1983. My company has been recommending Leppin Inspections to our clients for almost 10 years now and we have had nothing but compliments on his service. Scott's inspection reports are far more detailed than the average report that comes across my desk. He has started working early or stayed late to meet a deadline more times than I can count. I've yet to have a customer who didn't want to use him a second time when the question was called. read more

As an investor, I have several inspectors over the years for numerous house purchases. Without question the best inspector I have used is Scott Leppin. He is responsive, incredibly thorough, and provides excellent documentation that is needed for effective negotiations for repairs when purchasing a property. But what I like most about Scott is that he will offer advice; while all inspectors have to be careful from legal standpoint, it is nice to find a guy that is not scared to offer opinions and point out serious flaws of a property versus superficial. As a cash buyer, I have not been required to use an inspector, and I have been tempted to just do my own inspections (I consider myself a very capable and handy guy). But Scott has repeatedly found issues with homes that I would have never uncovered, and has saved me many thousands of dollars in the long run. Bottom line, I will always use Scott for future inspections and recommend him very highly to anyone who is need of that type of service. read more

Scott crawled, climbed and jumped to inspect the house head to toe and his effort shows. We have not found a single problem Scott missed since we bought this house two years ago. I would recommend him to every buyer. read more

I have owned two homes. The first purchase was okay, but the house was about 15 years old when I bought it and I ended up putting a lot of extra money into fixing things here and there over the years. On my second purchase, I wanted a more thorough idea what I was getting into. So, I asked a couple of real estate agents who they would recommend for a home inspection. Scott Leppin was one of the inspectors they suggested. They told me he had been doing inspections for their office for over a decade, so I gave him a call. Scott did indeed sound like he had a lot of expertise and experience with the Austin housing market, so I hired him for the job. I was not disappointed. He showed up on time and was very professional. He ended up pointing out many things that were wrong with the house and this helped me negotiate a lower price. The photos he included identified problem areas and his supporting comments were thorough and detailed. I used this information to my advantage in my negotiations with the seller. I have been in the second home now going on two years. I have fixed a few of the things he pointed out in his report because I'm the handy man type and like doing things like this. I am quite happy with my home and there have been no nasty surprises to fix. If a friend were in the market for a home, I would not hesitate suggesting they use Scott. He ended up saving me money on my purchase and if I buy another home down the road, I will use Scott again. Jim read more
