A guy came out and gave me an estimate. He was supposed to call the next day to schedule the removal. He never called, even after I called him again to prod him. I finally checked Yelp and found Santos with his good reviews. He came out quickly, gave a fair estimate, said he could do it the next day. He arrived a little late with his truck and small crew but went right to work and did the whole job in just 3 hours. I had expected a lot of chainsaw noise but they did a lot of cutting with handsaws, using the power tools mostly to cut up and grind the wood. Very impressive work and a great personality. We called Tony with urgency as new home owners and wanted two 30+ foot trees removed before any bad winter storms occurred. The trees were leaning towards our home and could cause severe damage so we requested it to be removed asap. Tony and his team of 7 showed up within a week ready to work! We originally planned to have cranes involved in the removal, but due to how our house was elevated by a hill, the crane was not deemed safe to use. But, Tony and his team of professionals did not let that delay our removal. They had their men climb up the trees themselves and cut down the trees piece by piece. Both trees were removed within 2 days and we were so satisfied with the overall service. They did such an amazing and safe job cutting down the trees without damage to any surrounding houses. Highly recommended for all and any tree removal services! They are insured as well!

Initially, they indicated they could come out on Saturday, July 4, but the estimate was ultimately confirmed for Sunday, July 5, between 11:00 am & 12:00 p.m. I was coordinating the appointment on behalf of a loved one. Because the property owner doesn't live at the affected house, they traveled from another part of the city and rearranged their schedule specifically to meet the estimator. We also learned that the neighboring property we initially believed the tree had fallen from is vacant, making it even more important to determine responsibility and move the process forward. Unfortunately, no one arrived for the scheduled appointment, and there was no phone call, text, or Yelp message to let us know they were running late or needed to reschedule. We understand that delays and emergencies happen, but a simple courtesy message would have been appreciated. The lack of communication wasted people's time and delayed addressing a situation affecting multiple properties. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend a company that confirms an appointment and then fails to show up or communicate with the customer.

I should've read the reviews earlier. Most reviews are for trees taken down completely. Tomahawk might be a good company for completely removing trees but I would NOT recommend them for trimming out dead wood unless you want more of your tree removed than what you contracted for. Our specifics were to NOT remove low branches (for privacy) and to NOT have our tree hacked like the companies who do work for PECO. I received estimates from 3 companies that were all comparable. I went with Tomahawk because Jim assured me he understood exactly what we wanted done and which branches needed to be removed. There's no fixing a tree that was hacked.
