Asther and the staff are so welcoming and kind here. They are so nice and bring good vibes to their establishment. The ambiance is casual. Food is already made and served hot, just pick your yummy food and it's ready to eat! I will be back!

Been on the hunt for a good Filipino place in central Jersey and this place was recommended by friends. It totally lived up to the hype. All the dishes were absolutely delicious, my personal favorite was the skewer. Love all of the varieties. Everyone here was very nice and helpful in explaining all the dishes. I can't wait to come back to try the sisig.

What a hidden gem! I've spent a lot of time with my Filipino friends and this smells just like their family cooking. Very reasonably priced especially nowadays. $9.50 for a combination plate. Huge portion of rice. I did bbq chicken and a bbq pork kebab. The pork is incredible. Definitely worth going just for this. The chicken was good too. Lumpia (Filipino egg rolls with pork - MUST TRY) are 4/$2.50 with a delicious spicy sweet chili sauce. Very friendly staff and very helpful. Lots of Filipino groceries to buy too.

Food is good and price is not that bad compared to some other places, great for a quick meal if you're in the area and a pretty large selection. This is where I come when I get the craving for some Philippine food

It's been a few years since the last time I'ved had food from here. Used to order catering for family gatherings and my bbq fix. Back in town for an event and wanted to make sure to get some good eats and was not disappointed. They don't have a ton of sitting area but still got to eat in and have some leftovers for later. Having the food there was a treat cause they had a good playlist going...Neocolours was on and was awesome to eat and reminisce Still the best Filipino BBQ I've had from DMV to NJ (other than my own lol). Empanadas are my wife's favorite & I really love the pastry dough. Also tried the Ukoy during this visit--biggest & baddest Ukoy, other than my mom's and it was amazing. There are always so many different food options from Kare-kare, pancit, menudo, lechón belly, etc. you'll find something to enjoy and fill you up. When expectations are high, satisfaction is sweeter when expectations are met. So glad we got the time to stop by. Keep it going!

Leo's Barbecue is a cafeteria style filipino restaurant. The steam table holds at least a dozen different dishes to choose from. Offering a wide variety of dishes from fish chicken, beef, pork, vegtables, fried, baked, grilled or stewed, etc... There is always something for me to takeout. My rating is between 3 to 4 stars and went generous with a 4 because I've had some delicious meals here. Unfortunately, I have also had some not mediocre meals. My last visit the Kare Kare was really tasty with bits of peanuts but did not come with enough vegetables. We also ordered the garlic shrimp which was full of flavor but the shrimp was overcooked and so difficult to peel everyone avoided that dish. The baked bangos was my favorite. They follow all the basic requirements for social distancing. They recently added some shelves. I wil most definitely return to fill a filipino food craving.

    BBQ sticks

Their bbq sticks is a must! It was delicious, flavorful, and lots of meat! We also tried the pancit, calderreta, Bicol express, dinuguan and lumpia. Absolute delicious. I'm so glad we got to stop by while we were staying in NJ for a few days. All of it tasted like home!

I've been going here since I was a child. It was always comforting to come with my mom and get immediately recognized. This restaurant feels like family and I love the variety and deliciousness of the Filipino food. It is always something I can count on when I dont have my mom's cooking.

Sure, you're probably reading through the opinions for this eatery seeing arguably what appears to…read morebe mixed reviews. Maybe you're at a crossroads, wondering if this place is worth your time. However, there is more than meets the eye. Frankly speaking, you will find yourself comforted with a meal that is made with love and passion that spans across a whole ocean. If you're new to Filipino food, you might be wondering what makes it unique as its own cuisine. Well, the art and wonder of Filipino cuisine is in the immense regional diversity for each of its signature dishes. From something as "simple" as adobo to the complexities of diniguan, you will find that the recipes for these dishes are nuanced by region and each island of the Philippines. The diversity in the recipes reflects the multi-cultural aspects within Filipino culture. This makes each experience special when it comes to Filipino cuisine, because you are tasting that particular recipe deriving from that particular region/island. With that being said, Amer-Fil delivers its own unique recipe on these signature dishes. The initial take at the store front might not be anything spectacular or worth noting - perhaps just another simple small mom-and-pops grocery store. Non-perishable cans of consumables and other Filipino/Asian-centric goods line the shelves in seemingly a non-descript fashion - a sort of "if-you-know-you-know" type manner. Finally, as you get to the back, you encounter the dining area. The open area is outfitted with several tables, while the service counter offers a display of the precooked foods through a transparent glass screen of the buffet somewhat in a similar fashion to other Filipino restaurants found in the New Jersey/New York area. While the appearance may not be appealing, consider for yourself the history and background of the establishment. That the story is rich in context with relation to the generations of Filipinos that have immigrated to the U.S. and made their home here. From humble beginnings, you can't help but imagine the pride and happiness in being able to "make it in America" and how that came to fruition through owning of your own business. Yet, there is that piece of the mind and soul that remains back at home across the ocean - something that never really fades with time. What it is like to make something for yourself and your family is truly remarkable and arguably one of the greatest accomplishments that deserves recognition. Now take that same pride and happiness, and infuse it with the food. This is ultimately what you will find here at Amer-Fil. We tried the afritada, diniguan, mongo, BBQ pork on a stick, chicken adobo, and pancit. We were amazed at how rich in flavor each of these dishes were, coupled with the unique textures of each dish. If you prefer food on the vinegary-side, you will most definitely enjoy these dishes - especially the diniguan. Typically, diniguan is not my jam due to its cooked-pork-blood consistency, but Amer-Fil has made me a fan with their own take on it. The pancit is on the peppery side, but that gives it an interesting smokey flavor that I haven't previously experienced. You can tell that the food was cooked with love based on how genuine the owner's smile as he presents the plate of food to you - indicative of the pride in that he is to be able to share a piece of his home with you. I assure you that you will not be disappointed eating here at Amer-Fil. A gem in Central Jersey!

Loco Moco (Island Grill) - The grilled beef patty was terrible and dry even with the sauce it still did not help. The fried eggs, one of the eggs, were overcooked where the yolk cooked fully, and the other one was fine sunnyside up. Pork Katsu & Kalbi Short Ribs with Curry Sauce (Island Combo) - Short Ribs were overdone and tasted burnt. Like, not a BBQ tastes like a burnt taste. Pork Katsu was overcooked and dry. When you bite it, it is ready hard, like biting a rock. Plus, that Pork Katsu wasn't even a Pork Katsu. It's like a really thin slice of pork dipped in panko batter. It doesn't even match with the picture. (Japanese restaurants make better Pork Katsu). The curry sauce was at a different level. You can see the sauce sink to the bottom and water floating to the top. I think it was like a water down sauce that they tried to make it last without throwing it away. Overall, the meals, taking a quote from Bob's Burgers, as Bob Belcher says, "Overdone and Dry." Plus, it was missing Macaroni Salad. Even though their website says the Island Grill and Combo include 2 Scoops of Rice, 1 Scoop of Macaroni Salad on a Bed of Cabbage. Will never be coming back here to order food.

I wanted a 2- piece combo deal made from a breast and wing, regular spice. I found out immediately that those chicken parts were never on the menu, but the only choices were legs and thighs. The white meat was only available for sandwiches. That was disappointing. So I defaulted to a Chicken Deluxe Sandwich Combo (lettuce, tomato, fries, soft drink & Mango Peach Pie), on what appeared to be something like a Martin Potato Roll. It was a solid clucker sammy; good size fillet, semi crisp coating, simple mayo-based house sauce - but not comparable to the much larger, crisper Popeye's version; not to mention that the Pop-I store also sold all pieces of chicken separately and in combination. I didn't have to compromise. The fries are thinner than most fast food shops , but had good crunch and saltiness. The tropical juice collection is unique and the most distinct and flavorful part of the Jollibee's menu. I can't speak to their noodle offerings as I haven't tried them yet. I enjoyed the Mango Peach Pie (deep fried wrap), and their freebee special that I lucked into. Sweet and crisp like a dessert egg roll.
