History
Established in 1899.
Leonard Hardware began serving the community in 1899 - one hundred and twenty two years ago! The original owner, H.G. Leonard, was well established in Salem Ohio at the time, and began selling hardware and building materials to the growing town - directly from railroad box cars. In his first year of business Leonard exceeded $50,000 in sales!
*John W. Risbeck, along with his sons John G. and Douglas, purchased Leonard's in 1974. The business flourished under their care as John Sr. and Doug grew the sheet metal, heating and plumbing portion of the business, and John Jr. and wife Susan managed the retail division of the hardware. *As a private independent company, Leonard Hardware continues to serve the community in an old-fashioned, service oriented way. If you need something we don't stock, we are able to have almost any item delivered quickly and efficiently, sometimes the same day.
