    AWESOME KIDS SECTION!
    Angel S.

Super cute library with tons for the kids. The kids section is half of the library! The grounds in front of the library or also very pretty and peaceful enough to just sit outside and read a book. If you get hungry Leon Valley Café is right next-door. Literally you could spend the whole afternoon in this little area with private parking. I would've appreciated a warmer welcome from the ladies in the front but maybe that's just me expecting too much LOL. This library isn't too far from the few of my new favorite places to go so I have a feeling will be back. Your young kids will love this library!

This little library says, Kick back on a chair from the 70's and read self help books to your heart's content. Sure, it might add, we aren't a big, glamorous, San Antonio library, but we have heart. And chess night. Oh, yeah. Admittedly, this library can't compete with the efficient and glamorous San Antonio library system, but it has its own little, special niche. If you live in the boundaries of Leon Valley, you can get a library card for free. If you live outside this area, you can get a card for $20. Sure, the library has books, movies and computer access, but it also has some fun, small town things, like a storytelling festival and a Saturday morning T'ai Chi class. They also offer poetry contests, preschool hour, and a book club. The actual building itself is small and feels more like a used book store than a library, which is fine with me. There is plenty of seating, tables and comfy old chairs that encourage patrons to grab a book and a seat. The volunteer at the front desk was helpful and friendly. Overall, this library is a nice place with a homey feel and some quirky benefits.

The university…read moreprovides a distinctive, student-oriented collegiate environment rooted in rigorous academic traditions and Catholic principles. As Texas's oldest Catholic university, the institution blends historical significance with an accessible and personalized campus atmosphere. Academically, St. Mary's is recognized for excellence in business, law, science, and criminal justice, consistently earning high rankings for value in the Western region. A notable advantage of St. Mary's is its small class sizes and low student-faculty ratio, facilitating the establishment of meaningful relationships between students and professors. The 135-acre urban campus offers expansive green spaces and maintains a traditional collegiate ambiance within a metropolitan location. The university's status as a Marianist and Hispanic-Serving Institution is evident in its commitment to service, social justice, and community engagement.

Advisors, faculty, and departments often provide little to no guidance, leaving students to navigate important academic decisions on their own. If your child thrives on clear direction, regular check‑ins, or structured support, this may be a difficult environment. Parents are kept almost completely out of the loop, making it hard to understand what your student needs or what's happening academically. Before committing, make sure your student is prepared to advocate for themselves and operate independently--because consistent communication and mentorship are not guaranteed.

It is located in a strip mall off Fredericksburg, and it won't be found unless ones looking for it, which I was. It is not a very big place, but it does have a lot of knickknacks, including an impressive collection of stickers, bookmarks, and vinyl records, to name a few. It actually is a pretty neat place. The books are used and for the most part they're very reasonably priced. They do not have an inventory of the books, so you do have to look through shelves, if looking for a particular title. And their staff is only one person at the cashier. Which is to say that you can browse to your heart's content, and discover some major reads. They also had quite a few boxes of books that were under one dollar or $.50. This is one of those places that I intend to return to, because of pricing and to support small businesses. I truly recommend visiting this place. It makes for a fun visit.

There's bookmarks, stickers, collectibles, etc. I never regret a trip to this place because if I can't find what I'm looking for, at least I had a pleasant interaction with the employees.
