Alumni Oyster Bake. Always a nice evening to be outside.

St Mary's University hosts many events that are free and open to the public/community, such as the St Mary's Fiesta Jazz Festival and the Christmas Tree lighting. It is a beautiful campus.

I recently spent a few days on the campus of St. Mary's University. My daughter will be attending in the Fall and her mother and I were there for her orientation. It's a smaller school and we like the student to faculty ratio. We feel this will help her have a better university experience. We were both impressed with the faculty and administrators who spoke. They also brought in a speaker, Stephen Gray, who gave a humorous, informative presentation on "The Art of College Parenting". Much of it seemed to be common sense, but really made you think. I look forward to seeing the school year begin to see if our impressions are right. Here's to a great Fall semester to start our daughter's collegiate career!

This is where we are performing for the San Antonio Folkloric Festival Our Lady of the Lake…read moreUniversity is hosting this yearly event. I can only give a view point of what it is like to be a dancer performing here. So it is a completely different perspective They cleaned the stage and made it appropriate for dancing. One dance we are performing is African-Brasilian and it is barefoot and the stage was smooth nothing to injure our feet This is a major plus. The University gave us a good dressing room even though it is where the orchestra practices. They were very generous with providing enough water for all the different groups of dancers that they even had leftover bottles for us to take with us when leaving after the show A sign of a good host never let your dancers get dehydrated. They also provided us with grapes cheese and crackers Easy things to digest when you are performing to help you keep going without making you feel full and heavy Just enough to perk you up. The stage manager lighting sound and crew were most cooperative during rehearsal so we could synchronize with each other to provide a really good show for the audience. It is a pleasure working with professional people who want to deliver their best It enables us to deliver more and give our best as dancers After the show there was a cast and after party so everyone could meet and greet because many times during rehearsals and the show we do not get to see what the other groups are performing There was music fun conversation and social dancing to a small live band It was a pleasure to perform at the University for the Folkloric Festival

I think the biggest issue with this college is it's enrollment and registration process and making…read moresure everything is squared away. I ended up attending this college after I had already received a bachelors degree from the university of Texas and another bachelors degree from Texas State University. I was in need of a simple occupational specialty award, and they had told me that I needed to go through the traditional enrollment process. I had to go in person on numerous occasions when my occupational skills award was supposed to be solely online. I encountered numerous issues on things that they did wrong on their end such as not updating my home college on the FASFA forms and not being able to register me telling me I needed to take a TSI when I was already a double bachelor degree major and other numerous things that I continuously had to make a very long drive up to San Antonio college just to get fixed and every single time I went up there I noticed that the people who were helping me were college students themselves who did not exactly understand the process very much at all. I'm not saying the college is a bad place to start, but it is most definitely an extremely difficult experience and it is extremely frustrating and on top of that the advisors usually don't answer you so you have to go in person either way, and attempt to figure out the ways of the classes that you need to register for on your own and gather the CRN numbers all by yourself. All around, I would highly recommend trying for Delmar College in Corpus Christi or attempting to try the Austin community college because if you did have to go in person, you would only need to go one time and they square you away pretty solid the first visit. I highly do not recommend this college though it is the college that eventually got me an occupational specialty award. It was an extremely difficult and frustrating and stressful process to even deal with this college. For anyone considering that actually reads this review, I genuinely hope you have other colleges in store for you and other backup plans. San Antonio college has been very well known to not get you registered on time and you get dropped from the courses either way. Once I had set up a payment plan I paid a couple of hundred dollars upfront and I have yet to receive that refund and it's been over two years now. I was a veteran and my college was supposed to be fully paid for, but the advisor did not enter it correctly. Something that had nothing to do on my end and completely on their end.

For starters, This campus is very cool! The Brackenridge manor is breathtaking, the architecture and everything inside is amazing. Little history on this- it basically belonged to George Washington Brackenridge ( which is also named about Brackenridge Park), he made his fortune during the civil war, was president of SAWS and founded San Antonio National Bank. The sisters came from France to fight the cholera epidemic (and also established Santa Rosa Hospital) and were looking for a place to start a new convent, and negotiated 280 acres of his estate for 100k. He didn't think they could pay, but did. Part of the deal was that the estate included every inside- he didn't read between the lines. So, the sisters acquired a very expensive and rare book collection among all other things. It was a motherhouse, a residential place for priests and then a refuge for nuns and priests during the Mexican Revolution. History lesson over. ;) I also got to see the Blue Hole, which is where the San Antonio River literally starts! It was so cool to see. I don't think I've ever thought or asked about where a river starts, much less Our river. It's the source spring for the San Antonio River, when the light hits the water it has a blue tint, and you can see the springs bubbling. The water is supposed to be clear, and you will see fish and turtles swimming too! It's so so so cool!
