With the caveat that I have low expectations for dry cleaners I tried this spot after Petworth Cleaners closed and have been pretty impressed so far. There are a lot of reviews mentioning poor service but I found it to be pleasant with little wait. Prices were good ($10 for suit, $5.50 for dress shirt) and turn around fast at 4 days. Leon's cleaners RUINED my dress and had the audacity give it back to me like they didn't rip the strap off!! I confronted the owner about it and he threatened to call the cops. He has the worst customer service and blames his customers for everything like we would intentionally damage our clothes. They also damaged the buttons on several of my husband's shirts, lost one and of course took zero responsibility. DO NOT take your clothes here to be cleaned. read more

The service and attitudes here are garbage. All services cost too much. They can't even properly dry clean a button up shirt.

***This review is strictly for the tailoring services*** Getting ready for date night and I noticed that my favorite coat had a hole in it. I couldn't go out with the new beau looking like this, so I stopped by this place to see if they could stitch it up real quick. I asked how soon it could be ready and the cashier told me that I could pick it up tomorrow. I told her that I really wanted to have it by tonight. Fortunately it was a slow day and the seamstress was able to accommodate. Less than 5 minutes later, my coat was mended and I was on my way. It actually took me longer to find parking than it did for them to fix my coat. There is a small (emphasis on small) lot on the side of the building, and every space was full, so I had to park on a nearby side street. I would've given them 5 stars for accommodating me on such short notice, but they were a bit rude so I had to dock them a star. Unreciprocated greetings and "thank yous" are a poor way to encourage repeat business. read more

Terrible place. Got a jersey dry cleaned . She gave it back to me with two stains on the jersey. When I asked about the spots she claimed they were already there which was a bold face lie. If the spots was already there why didn't they get them out ? That's the reason for dry cleaning correct ? See how that lie made no damn sense. I had to go home a get the stains out myself . They are the absolute WORST when it comes to customer service. They lost my blouse (expensive) and was not remorseful about it. They only offered me $10 for their negligence. Missing Leon...Under the new owners (they've been here a few years), the service is horrible. Not my first bad experience here...but, definitely my last. They are more like a Zips now...quantity over quality. I have a bad habit of cleaning a lot of clothes at once. And, don't check them until the season comes around again. PLEASE make sure you check your clothes for all services when you pick them up, if you come here. I paid for services and my coat was not clean nor was button sewn. Very rude clerk. I took my favorite blouse for cleaning along with other clothing. When I went to pick them up, she returned my blouse with both sleeves torn and told me that it was that way when I brought it for cleaning. I told her it was not she insisted it was. I asked her if the seamstress would repair it, she told me no. I was even willing to pay for the repair. And why would I bring a blouse in that was torn on both sleeves to be dry cleaned? I had brought in more clothes that day to be cleaned but I was so upset I told her I would not be coming back. Very, very rude person indeed. Everything is good with them if there is no problem but as soon as there is one their true colors pops right out. Thank you for letting me vent. read more

This place is the worst. I would give this place negative score if that were possible. They recently started charging more for the type of material - linen, silk, etc. it's not posted anywhere in their store. The $2.25 for most clothes is a lie, it's actually 2.25 for men's dress shirts only. Everything else is more expensive. When I asked for my clothes and money back because I don't appreciate duplicity, they said that the manager would have to come in 2hours to return my money. More recently, we gave them clothes on Friday and asked for them back on Monday. The woman said there would be a 15% extra charge because Saturdays don't count! Then she said its $5 extra, which is a 50% charge -wow! Save your money for the more expensive but transparent places. read more

Wow! I asked before I dropped my clothes if this place was under new management. The lady said no. So I dropped off the first half of my Spring/Summer wardrobe. When I returned, they claimed they found something else and charged me an extra $2.28. When I got dressed this morning, all I did was pull and go. After I got to work, I noticed the lining was hanging and the dress appeared as if it had been washed under the Regular cycle and not Hand Wash setting. If I could give this place zero stars, I would! I recently came in to this location and dropped of a variety of items. I paid in advance for what rang up as 24 items (one of those items being a suit SET). I came to pick up my items and was told by the older female with the short haircut and glasses that she failed to charge me for an item because there were 25 pieces. She was ONLY counting the hangers, and not even looking at what she actually rang up. I politely tried to inform her three times that she is counting incorrectly if she counts by hangers because the suit set was on two separate hangers (i.e. the jacket and the skirt were separate) versus being on one hanger, which would have only come up to 24 hangers if she had counted it that way. She wasn't even listening to me at all, and when I tried to take my things out of the bag to show her the error she proceeded to GRAB MY WRIST and push it off the bag! I restrained myself and asked her "Why she was touching me?" and then told her "Not to put her hands on me." I paid her the $2.40 because at that point I knew that it would be in my best interest to give her the $2.40 she so desperately needed and NEVER return. I hope that the $2 was worth it to her because her actions definitely constitute a simple assault in D.C. read more

This is now "$2.28 Cleaners," and I believe they have a second location at 5018 New Hampshire Ave. Both stink. Prices are reasonable, but: -- They have ruined half of all the buttons on all of my shirts by overpressing/overheating them. The buttons are so cooked that they just crumble into little pieces in your hand. I patiently paid for these to be replaced, which they often screwed up by forgetting to replace them, or by replacing them with buttons that don't match (who puts blue buttons on a red shirt??), but when it continued to happen, I spoke with one of the owners (the wife). Hysterically, as she went to feel the button, it broke off in her hand. Nevertheless, she was completely unapologetic and suggested that I might be better off going somewhere else. What small business owner says that? I hadn't even complained, really, and average $35/week at their location -- The service at the 300 Missouri Ave location could not be slower, or less enthusiastic. It takes them about 5 minutes per customer, and there's no sense of urgency in moving...it's a glacial pace and if you're 3rd in line, you can count on 10-15 minutes before you're out of there -- Parking in both locations is a mess. At Missouri, they have dedicated parking, but because they're so slow in serving you, customers will frequently double park and block you in. Again, who does that? And at the New Hampshire Ave location, I'm not sure what's going on in the parking lot, but there's a constant crowd of 6-12 individuals lurking about that make the whole thing feel shady...it's like someone opened the doors to the looney bin home, and they all wound up in that parking lot. read more

So I am writing because Leon's Cleaners ruined my sweater and a new shirt. I didn't check my clothes when I picked them up but later I discovered my cream colored sweater had stain right in the front that wasn't there when I dropped them off. In addition, my light blue colored dress shirt had a huge brownish stain in the front. When I pointed it out the lady in the front said it was a food stain. I asked her if she was crazy, I said look at me do I look like someone who would spill their entire lunch on them. I am highly profession in my dress and manners and she just insulted me. So they dry -cleaned them again. Not much changed and they were unwilling to compensate me. Then she insulted my intelligence by saying she's only the cashier. I know she drives the 80 thousand dollar Mercedes Benz parked right out front. I urge every reader not to go there these people are insulting. I've told all of my friends and colleagues not to spend a dime in this place. read more
