2017 Saini Farms Dry Creek Valley Chenin Blanc & 2018 "Peaberry" Mendocino County unsulfured Chenin Blanc.
Bradley N.

In all honesty, Leo: you had me at Grenache. Rosé of Grenache, actually. Dry, crisp, and refreshing. Alluring to look at in the glass and tantalizing to taste on the tongue. Clearly, you are so much more than 'the Dane who mastered Californian Chenin Blanc.' It's not that your three different single vineyard versions of Chenin Blanc are not lip smackingly delicious. They are, no question. Or that you're not Danish. You are, obviously. But why should you be pigeonholed in such a fashion when your winemaking talents are so much more expansive than that? There is, of course, the need to avoid overlap with your day job at Stuhlmuller Vineyards, where you produce top notch Alexander Valley Cabernet, Chardonnay, and Zinfandel. Modern renditions of Californian Chenin Blanc deserve all the critical attention they can get! But seriously: your Dry Creek Valley Grenache (red and rosé)? These are quality quaffers. Don't get me started on your Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Franc, either. Or your cool climate, maritime-influenced Chardonnay. No wonder that Manresa (3 Michelin stars) features your wines. And not just because you are a trained European sommelier and did your time laboring in fine dining trenches on two continents. These are fantastic wines! And should I even tell them about your Cole Ranch AVA dry Riesling? I mean, how much more of it is there left to sell? The Mosel Valley has got nothing on this witch's brew of a wine that is so many things all at once. And the Sonoma Mountain Syrah that was harvested from vineyards so steep you risked falling downslope to pick them? What would be the point? It would be like telling people about Dexter Ahlgren's Bates Ranch Cabernets from the 1990s, more legendary now than real. A wine fit for late night stories but not for reviewing anymore on Yelp. But I should tell them that they can visit your tasting room in Healdsburg, right? By appointment only because your staff is so small. You have kids to tend to and other things on your plate, after all. You can't be available 24/7, nor will your wines end up on Costco shelves. But they can try them at Diavola in Geyserville and Ramen Gaijin in Sebastopol and in fine eating establishments in San Francisco, Sonoma County, NYC, and beyond, if they know how to find them. Or they can just join your wine club. It's not like everybody reads R.H. Drexel's wine blog or listens to the 'Wine for Normal People' podcast. Maybe they should, but that's beside the point, I think. If you make it, they will come. Maybe not today. Maybe not next week. Maybe not on their next Wine Country getaway. You're not an easy person to find. But give it time. They will. Better make a few more cases of Grenache next year, before they show up at your door, thirsty for something novel enough to crack their wine drinking worlds wide, wide open.

We stopped here after grabbing some lunch. We did not have reservations but were immediately greeted and seated. Anu (Not sure of the spelling but she was incredible) and Erin assisted us. The wines were good and not the crazy high prices that you normally see in the area. Their Casa Verde was delicious! We bought several bottles within our group. I highly recommend this location. The ambiance is very nice too.

If you are looking for a wedding venue in Healdsburg- look no further. When we stepped foot onto…read moreRu's Farm we met Lele and walked the grounds and knew this was the venue for us! The entire process was so easy from booking, communications, and vendor recommendations. We rented the Coop as well to get ready and it was such a perfect spot to be on the property but tucked away from the main grounds. Our guests continue to say how magical the wedding weekend was because of our venue! Guests walk through olive trees and into an open cocktail space with an abundance of flowers and fresh lavender. The ceremony site is under a beautiful large oak tree overlooking the Alexander Valley. The backdrop really sold me on why we had to get married at Ru's! Dinner was in front of the barn with twinkly lights. Then the dance party was in the barn where we also had lounge seating, and dessert! We had 140 guests which felt like just the right amount of people and the spaces all flowed nicely for it to feel like we could all be together the entire evening- without it feeling too large. We are still on such a high almost five months later and friends still tell us it was the best wedding of 2022! We cannot thank you LeLe and LJ for the best weekend!

Having our wedding at Ru's Farm was a dream…read more It was love at first sight, we knew immediately after stepping on the grounds that this was our place. It's beautiful and charming in a way that photos barely capture, but that's just the start of it. Lele, the venue owner was a joy to work with. We could tell how much love and care she puts into the space and that working with her would be the opposite of the cookie cutter, corporate experience we've experienced at other popular venues. She provided a thorough tour of the space, a really helpful preferred vendors list, and other wonderful tips and tricks. All the preferred vendors were top tier, and it ended up saving us a ton of time and we were guaranteed a high quality end to end experience. Other key benefits of Ru's: 1. The venue is available the entire wedding day which provides a lot of flexibility 2. There is a beautiful, 3-bedroom cottage on the properties that was perfect for getting ready 3. Unlike vineyards, this property has all the perks of a vineyard (oversees a vineyard) but also allows all types of alcohol (not just beer and wine) 4. The design of the space and the transition between different phases of the day (ceremony, reception, dancing, etc) was seamless This venue is a rare treasure, I would certainly suggest snatching a date before they are all gone.

It spoke to us right away and during our tour it just kept getting better and better. The property is amazing and the building is rich with history and just as gorgeous. We were obsessed with the wrap around bar. That was the second huge selling point. Everyone we worked with was absolutely incredible. We were passed through a few different hands but every hand off was seamless and our information was always relayed with ease. We could not have had a more perfect day. Jaimie was incredible for keeping me in line when I was getting ahead of things and was quick to reassure me of any of my concerns. She was always available and ready for anything that came her way. Our wedding day was magical. It could not have gone any better. The building had a fresh coat of paint. The garden was in full bloom. I highly recommend anyone looking to get married in the spring and fall to check out the Villa. With a garden like that, you don't need to spend a ton on flowers!

Hubs and I are vegan, so we're used to having 2 meals a day in the room. I even travel with a "portable kitchen" with collapsible dishware, my own utensils, even dish liquid, rubber gloves and sponge! This trip - unfortunately - we'd picked up a COLD somewhere. By the time we got to the hotel, we were both full-blown. Even tho the room is wonderful, the robot adorable, the laundry room generously appointed, there is NO HOT WATER from the kitchen sink. This is a health code violation in CA. I only discovered this when washing up our dishes in the kitchen sink. Upon further examination, we could see: there's a SINGLE pipe that supplies room temperature water to the sink. Weird. Not two pipes, no separate HOT water COLD water pipes here under the kitchen sink. So I could either wash dishes in COLD water (same pipe for dishwasher? No idea!) or take my dishes into the bathroom to wash them in the sink there. Ugh. I think someone took a shortcut with the plumbing here. While there may be a workaround to get HOT RUNNING WATER in the kitchen sink, I simply can't stay at a place that has this kind of setup.

Awesome experience for eight year old girls and their Dads some of whom have never ridden before,…read morethank you!

I waited until I had another experience with a riding stable before writing this review because I…read morewanted to be sure that my experience here was not good. I have never been on a horse before this experience and have a lot of anxiety with trying new and potentially dangerous activities. I shared this with the woman who was our guide for the tour because I figured that would let her know how to interact with me as I'm trying this new thing. However, the guide was not helpful or empathetic in literally any way and when I was nervous because the horse was not following my direction (after confirming I was doing it right) she just told me "yeah they don't listen in the arena"...okay, well if the horse can't follow my direction in the arena how am I supposed to feel safe to take him on a two hour cliffside ride? Absolutely not. I ended up having a panic attack after many more attempts to direct him with no success. At that point I decided not to go on the ride because I know horses are incredibly emotionally intelligent and I did not know how my stress would impact him. In addition to not feeling safe and not feeling like my guide knew how to handle that situation. After talking to the woman who was working that day I requested a full or partial refund if possible and the owner called me and was wildly condescending. She made sure to drill it in that this experience was my fault and everyone else does just fine! So even though I knew that wasn't accurate, I let it go because the refund wasn't that important to me. Yesterday I went on another attempt to ride a horse and again I was scared. I told the guide that I've never done this and I was nervous and she was incredibly helpful and made sure I was comfortable with the horse before we left the arena even though we were on a public group ride. Something that this ranch's staff couldn't manage on a private two hour ride. So for me, the service was an easy 0. However, the location was beautiful and the lunch was decent. Wine was not for me and the gal working couldn't tell me a single thing about any of the wines. Edit: After reading the atrocious response from the business I've decided this place couldn't possibly deserve a two star rating. I wish zero stars and a PSA was an option! I would like to clarify that the ignorance from the business owners is shown clearly in that they are pretending I had ruined an experience for a group of "all other riders" when the entire group was my girlfriend (who had no problem "sitting through it") and I. I also felt I stated clearly in my review that the refund was not a major concern of mine. I don't need the money, I just don't appreciate the way these people treat customers that don't have a stellar experience. Truly disgusting. Your horse did not listen, your horse absolutely did not stay still in the arena, and your guide assured me I was following instructions and navigating just as she showed me. Your guide also stated that horses don't listen until they're on the trail (which is a ridiculous statement and shoes that you do not have control of them. But again, no shade to the horses. They're beautiful and they're animals and I respect them far more than any of the staff at this point) Additionally, the wine was awful and your staff doesn't even know how to describe or recommend a single wine on the shelf. Thank you for further affirming my negative experience and showing even more unprofessional behavior! After reading other reviews and their responses to anyone who didn't leave 4/5 stars...I'm not surprised at the awful customer service!
