I have been coming to this LensCrafters for few years now. Julie and Bryanna are my fav. I can see that they have new staffs which explains the decline in confidence and customer service. I was standing there for minutes Friday 4/18 around 5pm and none of ill equipped staffs could simply raise their head and speak to say "we will be right there with you!" Not the greatest Lenscrafters. There are a few things that bug me. When you enter, it is not always clear where to go and there isn't always someone up front. But I will say, the interactions, when they happen are always pleasant. The glasses selection isn't the largest and the wait times can be a bit insane. There is an optician who is a total jerk. All I know about him is that I had to creepily listen to him not-so-subtlely hit on female customers. I was really uncomfortable. The optometrists are fine. They take the time to speak with me. Machines for exams smell like bad breath. Back room and rest room filthy. They Didn't call me when my glasses were ready. Went in to try them out and they were set wrong. They had to re-do. The customer service at this location is terrible! The young girl on the reception counter has no idea of how important it is to treat customers kindly. On top of that, we purchased eye glasses that were clearly defective in workmanship but they refused to do anything about it. In their defense, the eye glasses' warrantee had just expired. However the lens developed scratches on the inside of both lens. This is a location that is impossible for it to become scratched in an eyeglass case. You would think that they would at least make some consideration for it. Instead Michael, the manager on duty, accused us of scratching the lens. In effect, he just called us a liar. The Hispanic receptionist is very rude and unprofessional! It was made clear that the appointment would be paid for in cash yet she asks for an insurance card and ID. The insurance card was handed to her in error instead of the ID. I asked for the insurance card back and she insisted very loudly and rudely to scan the insurance card into their system anyway. She was also yelling question across the room. " I guess they don't feel Hippa laws apply to them. Do we wear contact lenses?" Who is the "we" that she was talking to? She and the blonde receptionist/medical assistant kept addressing their questions to me instead of the patient. I was shocked to say the very least. When I ignored them, they finally started addressing the patient by her name and asked her questions directly. I only drove the patient to the appointment. They had no idea who I am and they had no authorization to speak to me for their patient. The staff acted as if the patient was an imbicil because she is a senior citizen! Mind you, the patient is a very young looking and active senior citizen. This was a horrible experience! They need better training or new staff. read more

This is my first negative Yelp review ever... i'm steaming... I am giving them a single star because Diana was very nice, and patient... even though the reason her patience was required was a matter of either poor standard operating procedures, or poor technology. I was welcomed by Betsy when I first walked in, however abrasive. I let her know that I would be picking up a pair of glasses, and that I just needed a moment to pick a pair; She said she would be right with me. Cool. I came prepared with my prescription, and came to lenscrafters because I had already checked with my provider that they were in-network. This should have been an easy trip. She sat me down with Diana after I picked my pair and got me set up, but then told me that they do not accept my insurance. If I knew that I had to pay money even though I had insurance, then I would have just went to Warby Parker. I was here to take advantage of my new jobs benefits. I just had a few simple questions because I knew I should be covered. I gave no fight. Just asked questions.But from that point on, all I got was attitude from Betsy. Though it had been a while since visiting a Lenscrafters, I have had corrective lenses all of my life, and would hope that I would be given the benefit of the doubt (at least by the time my -8.00 and -8.50 prescription was noticed) that I was not incompetent about this process, but Betsy's attitude made me feel as if this was her perception. She told me I needed to discuss my coverage with my provider. My provider informed me that Lenscrafters was definitely in network, and told them to check the eyemed database for me. I returned, and I was indeed in the database. The energy between Betsy and I was tense. We could hardly look at each other from that point on. No apologies. No service remedies. Not even a "my bad." (Which would have been the least she could do, since she had no problem addressing a caller to the store in colloquial fashion once she identified the caller). When I first walked out of the store with my head down because I wasnt leaving with glasses that I sorely NEED, Betsy had already beaten me outside and was smoking a cigarette with a co worker. Before I called my insurance to check for in-network providers, I checked online to see if I was covered, and saw right on my smartphone screen that Lenscrafters was in-network. I went back in and told Betsy this, as I showed her my screen saying they were in-network. She disregarded me and told me I would probably be covered by WALMART or some place... Not once did she think to check this eyemed database... Not once did she consider the experience that I was having. I left with my receipt for my glasses, totally covered, but would take A WEEK to be ready... By the time I got back in my car to write this review, Betsy was already back outside smoking another cigarette. Betsy, please try meditation. Had I reciprocated your energy, im sure somehow I would have been in the wrong. I expect better from such a large franchise. Period. read more

This store has the very best of professionals. Gabby and Nilton are so patient and wonderful to work with. I spent a lot of time in this store and neither Gabby nor Nilton make me feel rushed. Gabby took her time to make sure I was happy and wrote everything down for me. Gabby is a very beautiful person inside and out. Nilton takes his time to make sure you get the proper fit. He also makes sure you are getting the right look for your face. These are wonderful people. They have a massive selection of glasses but it was hard for me to choose as many of them had weird frames that just don't look good on me. Purchasing glasses here are very expensive, over $300 where you can get them for $25 at target optical. If you decide to purchase glasses from here, be prepared to wait for a long time as they for some reason always have a technical issue with their devices. What I could say that i really like about this place is that you can always go back to them to fix some minor damage on your glasses for free. read more

I made an appointment for my day off. When I called to see if I can move the time they informed me thaty appointment was last week. I never received a phone call and when I explained that I would not have made the appointment on a day I was working they didn't want to hear it. They said I was going to be charged a 40 dollar no show fee. When I asked if I rebooked would they wave the fee they said no. The women I spoke to was very rude and would speak over me when I was trying to explain the situation. I asked to speak to the supervisor and I was told she was not in and that she works remotely. I asked for her to call me back and still nothing. I was referred here by neighbors, but I will not go to such a place with poor customer skills. read more

I have never been to a LensCrafters before but went this week due to my new company's insurance. I was fortunate enough to work with Marisa who took the time to sit down with me, talk me through what my insurance covered, didn't cover and the discounts. She priced me out on multiple options and answered all my crazy questions. Finally, when I came in to pick up my new glasses, she took my old ones to the back, took them completely apart and cleaned them up to make them look new. It is like having two new sets of glasses. Marisa was amazing, I will definitely be going back to her. Important to note, I did NOT use Lenscrafters for the eye Dr appointment. I had to go to a different eye Dr but then took the script to Lenscrafters which is where Marisa was so helpful and professional. read more

Like other reviewers, the office staff for the Dr leave much to be desired. The wait time is long and billing errors have happened each time. Not sure why the office staff are unable to properly determine the insurance rates at the time of visit. They overcharge and then have to correct weeks later which is a hassle. And the office staff are not very friendly - far inferior to other locations I've been to. The staff in the main lenscrafters store are great when you have to buy frames or lenses. I just recently got contacts there. I'm giving two stars for the service not for the doctor. The doctor was fine and knowledgeable. But the two ladies he has up at the front are ridiculous. Both are rude and unprofessional. While I was waiting for the doctor to examine me - the girl who gave mw the prescreening exams told me that I had to get the digital eye exam instead of the dilation Bc the doctor said it. I'm fine with getting a digital exam instead of a dilation but she came in demanding that I get this versus suggesting that I get it on the doctors recommendation and giving pros about it. And on top of that she sounded not only rude but as if she couldn't even get the words out correctly. Know your service before selling it! And when I told her I don't understand why I needed it she caught an attitude and said ok you don't understand I'll get someone else. This other girl that came in was no better! Same as the first. Rude and unprofessional. The doctor intervened when he overheard me getting agitated. The doctor was good. I would recommend him. But these two girls need a training course on how to work in a customer service industry. On top of that I went to pick up my contacts today and the same girl didn't even so much as say hi how can I help you when I went in. And when she went to get my contacts from the storage area I was standing outside waiting and she was taking her sweet time talking to another associate about getting Boston market for lunch. I know you're hungry but girl I was standing right outside the entrance. Have the courtesy to wrap up your conversation so That I didn't have to say I was right here and send me on my way. I did not feel comfortable with this person calculating my balance.... ended up being the most "Expensive" pair of glasses I've ever purchased and I've been wearing glasses my whole life..... had them about a year, the lens are so scratched I can't see... when I took them back they said I'd have to replace the lenses and tried to charge me almost the same exact price I paid for the frames/lenses/exam combined...... sad never going back WHAT a racket!!!!! read more

This LensCrafters location at Watchung, NJ is totally incompetent and lacks any concept of customer service and wasted our time. We brought in a pair of glasses and asked for a backup pair to be made. It was a pretty simple request, but we told they couldn't remove the lens from the frames to put them in another frame, which isn't what we asked for at all. Their tech looked them over and said it couldn't be done without a prescription from the eye doctor. I contacted our ophthalmologist who said "Can't they determine the prescription from the glasses?", because all they needed to do was put them in the machine to read the prescription. I said apparently not. We've had optometrists able to do this and it is a common thing to do. So he our eye doctor said to come in to get a written prescription for that pair. So we did. Then we returned to the LensCrafters location at Watchung, NJ and presented them with the prescription they requested. They look it over, and said they don't know how to fill this prescription. Keep in mind, this is written by a very experienced ophthalmologist in Summit, NJ, and we never had a problem with anyone understanding how to fill eye glass prescriptions before. I looked the prescription over carefully, and everything was easy to read, but they didn't know how to make the glasses. So we are told that Betsy has to look at this. So she looks at it, and doesn't know what to do either. The thing is, they have an eye doctor right there, why not ask their own eye doctor to look at the prescription? Something seemed fishy to us, because they sell eye exams at this location. I needed some help on my glasses and was told to wait for Betsy even those there are several other employees there not busy. I waited a long time, with no attention to what I even needed or concern to ask. 15 minutes goes by and then I notice Betsy is having a social conversation with someone at the front desk. I asked later another employee if Betsy was talking to a customer, and was told no, that was a former employee who stopped by for a visit. Meanwhile, I'm kept waiting for assistance and she didn't even care or apologize. In fact, no employees did. I was making eye contact with Betsy the entire time too. I never got to speak with her or get my glasses fixed. Betsy doesn't appear to be a lab tech, she just handles the customers. However, while I'm waiting I notice the lab has a sign on its door which clearly says "No food or drink allowed in the lab", yet I see a woman inside there drinking coffee from a cup she has on the counter in the lab! This woman leaves the store, returns with a bag of take-out food, brings it into the lab with her and puts it on the counter!!! We ended up going to another optician (Suburban Optik in Berkeley Heights, NJ) who looked over the prescription, knew exactly what to do and took care of us immediately. He wasn't a bit confused by the prescription. He even fixed the nose pads and made the adjustment on my glasses without any fuss and no charge. We thought going to LensCrafters would be less expensive and quick, and it turned out their customer service is horrible, incompetent, doesn't follow basic lab protocols for cleanliness and their frames selection wasn't impressive. We will never return to LensCrafters again. read more

Dr. Robinson and his staff were also extremely helpful, kind and friendly. The new contacts Dr. Robinson recommended to me feel very comfortable and I learned more about contact care, my eyes, and how to make an informed decision about the contacts I wish to put in my eyes. i stopped by this store after a horrible experience at the Bridgewater Lenscrafters. Betsy was extremely helpful in addressing the issue i experienced at the Bridgewater store (my review is posted there). They fixed my lens in under one hour and was very detail oriented in getting my frame fit right after i got it. As i sat waiting for my lens, i was also able to observe the care the manager on duty then (i forget her name) was giving to customers who were getting their lens out of the lab. Every lens is double checked by the manager for its accuracy before it is handed over to the customer. Great service. read more

Dr. Alvarez is a nice Doctor who has no idea...or perhaps no control over the way they run his stuff around there. He takes his time with his patients...so much time that a 12pm appointment with him means its a 1pm appointment. Really!? He apologizes for his delay, but there shouldn't be a reason for that long of a delay. YET the biggest problem with his office is lack of customer service. While i was waiting I noticed that a mother of two was waiting for a credit on her credit card for over 45 minutes! I was there for an hour so I saw it all go down. She asked ASHLEY kindly if she can ask the doc for the approval since she was waiting so long and Ashley said "no, I can not interrupt the doc just to give you a credit. Wait like everyone else is doing!" wow oh wow! I couldn't believe my ears. The lady became irate after that (can't blame her!) Poor kids...they were tired of waiting so long. Once the doc came out he apologized for the delay (as always) and verbally approved the credit. The lady suposedly was going to call to complain. The Doc heard but did nothing. Unbelievable. MY PROBLEM was that their system was down and Ashley LIED and told me that she contacted my insurance and that I didn't have eye care. HUH!? thats a tactic for when their system is down...She did not call my insurance. She requested that I pay the visit of $179. When i got to work and spoke with HR they called Aetna for me and I INDEED had eyecare insurance. SO i called SHERRI at Dr. Alvarez office and SHERRI said that I must submit the claim myself so that i can get reimbursed. I called Aetna back to tell them what she had instructed me to do and AETNA told me "No no...they will get contractual price for the exam...they charged you full price. Get your cc credited and have them submit the claim" I called Sherri back and she said "oh we can't credit you, we will send you a check when Aetna sends us ours first! We do not trust that Aetna will pay us! You will need to WAIT about 4 weeks! I already submitted your claim online and waiting on the $$" Uhm she took my money and also submitted my claim? Sounds fishy...she had asked me to submit it days prior so that I can get reimbursed. Seems like Dr. Alvarez wants that double payment! Good thing I always check my coverage. I was pissed off. I will never go back there again! I should have walked out when I noticed how they treated that other lady. I was so desperate for contacts that I just held on. NEVER AGAIN! The lens crafters in Menlo park mall has such nice receptionists. Very helpful I recommend that office instead. AND I am not getting my contacts from his website...i will go to 1800-contacts. I had an eye infection (constant sharp pain!!!) on a Sunday morning and this was the only place that had doctors on Sunday, not to mention that it was Super Bowl Sunday. All of the staff on the sales floor, and the receptionists were extremely empathetic and kind, as they all welcomed me when I was waiting outside the door before opening, and gave me well wishes as I left. The receptionist saw me in pain and squeezed me in for the first appointment in the morning as soon as the doctor walked in. Of course, Dr. Alvarez was fantastic (thorough examination).
