I want to preface this by saying I had written a review on google about this location when I had first visited, and that was because the staff that were helping me were genuinely really nice, courteous, respectful, and understanding of my situation. I spent about 30 to 45 minutes in the store and most of that time was just standing by and waiting to speak to someone while I picked out glasses, and more waiting while they looked at my insurance. I did not see an optometrist at this location, and that was mostly due to the reviews I've seen here and on google, and I take my eye care very seriously. I came in already having my prescription from another optometrist at vision works, and then I came here to select frames. TO BE CLEAR, this review does not factor in the optometrist at this location, only the customer service I changed my glasses once every year or every year and a half, and I've all the places I've been to, the staff here have give me the most pleasant and honest experience I've ever had when selecting my frames, going over my options, and providing an unbiased review. LensCrafters and vision Works have constantly tried to upsell me on designer lenses and frames, memberships, different payment, plans, and gift cards, and all manner of needless crap. Here: I was given a tray, told to browse their selection (which granted is a little limited considering the space) while they assisted other customers, I picked out four pairs, tell them exactly what it is. I do for a living and what it is I needed (2 pairs, one for indoor use with a blue light filter, one for outdoor use with transitions for driving), I gave them my prescription insurance, they scan with them look at the frame that I had selected commented on the fashion and style, I made a decision, look in a payment plan and I left. Was told I would receive a text when my new frames are ready within a week. I went on Saturday and it's now Thursday as I write this No upselling, No crazy recommendations for any of the premium Ray Bans or weird sports gear, I got what I needed in a very friendly and costumer first manner. -the selection they have is limited -waiting was a little , but not a bother you can run errands while you wait or consider more options. -very friendly customer service -Very quick delivery If you're on a budget and need a new pair of flames in a timely respectful manner, go here. I only gave a four star because I cannot comment on the doctor(s) appointed here. The eye doctor (female, middle eastern, was wearing a hijab) was not friendly in the least! She was rude to my child and extremely impatient with him. (My child was being very polite, just a little nervous which annoyed her) She seems like a very unhappy person and I'm not sure why she works there. I tried easing the tension and speaking nicely with her but she completely ignored me which was very awkward for me and my family. Also, I found out after receiving paperwork from my insurance that they assumed we wanted "premium lenses,"and all kinds of other extra things for my child's lenses that are completely unnecessary which ended up costing me out of pocket an insane amount. I should've questioned it, and have learned from this experience. Do not recommend this place at all. read more

Unfortunately, the employees really don't follow up on any orders. They rely on their suppliers to fulfill their orders. If a product is delay the employees or even the doctor don't care and if you call them they just say it'll come in when it does. They don't want to investigate why which places the customer at a disadvantage of waiting. When you call the doctor here he really don't have time to deal with this. He is only looking to churn revenue. I've been waiting for a pair of trial contact lens for 6 weeks. When I call they say it's delayed. No feeling that it's been over 2 weeks. I suggest you go somewhere else and their prices are not competitive at all. If you go to Costco Optometry is better and they will follow up! Perhaps it's the Indian culture but I hope it's not that! read more

I went there because some articles said that Target and Price Club optical departments were a "good value." Nothing could be further from the truth! I was trying to get reading glasses, one from Persol, fitted with lenses. Of course, the optician on duty said, " we don't do those here. The lab which we send it to won't accept it. You have to go to NYC. No one cuts " glass" anymore!" , he exclaimed. When asked who in NJ does this, he gave me a blank stare and no answer. Well, he was wrong! I remembered Cohen Optical in the Livingston Mall used to make glasses there as a kid. Guess what? They are still there and still " cut glass." Or I should say, fit plastic lenses to irregular frames. Everything was better at Cohen. The service, the optician on duty who was especially nice and gave a basic eye exam for $69, and my frames were both fitted without breakage or a problem. The lenses were a little expensive, but I expected this because of the irregular size and the frames were both my own. So, do your own research first! Avoid this place if you can! read more

Dr. Karim is the best eye doctor I've ever had and the staff here are always friendly and helpful.

My experience was *fantastic.* The doctor and support staff were professional, caring, and helpful. When it came time to choose my first ever frames (!), Omar and Jennifer were endlessly supportive and honest, giving me opinions on pair after pair-- and I am *delighted* with our choice. Don't even think about to go this place if you are asian or whose english is a second language. the lady who works here named wendy will treat you like a .... i can't explain but it's worse than whatever you can imagine. i don't know why they hire someone like her who is so rude and doesn't know the work she has to do. read more

Horrible!!!! Never again...want cheap? this is a place for you. made the appointment via web, signed up all forms and waited for about 25 minutes while they have PIZZA!!! The dr was eating at the exam room stinking up the place...unbelievable. If you are having lunch do not book any appointments. If you are looking for a new eye doctor - keep on looking because this place is horrendous!! I had an appointment scheduled and I was going to be a new patient, I arrived for my appointment, filled out the paperwork and was told the doctor is "out on a walk" and I'd be seen next. A white man showed up shortly after me and he was told that he's be seen after me since I had an appointment before him. After 20 minutes of waiting around the doctor with the headscarf on her head (staff wouldn't tell me what her name was they said she goes by "Dr. Upal" and refused to give me her name) called on the man who came after me and refused to see me for my appointment time. I was also asked for my medical insurance information before I was even seen, which leads me to believe there is an fraudulent billing practices going on with this group. Why would they need medical insurance before even seeing me for a routine eye exam if the plan wasn't to make up a fake medical diagnosis to line their pockets with more money? Worst costumer service ever and to top it off the doctor had the a very NASTY attitude. I wasn't confident in her competence and didn't trust her anywhere near my eyes, as she didn't understand how appointments work, so I left. This place is horrible. The staff is rude, never pick up the phone and they never call when the glasses are ready. I always have to wait even with an appointment. Too bad too, Dr Omar is good but the staff is awful so I won't be going back. Save the trouble and don't go here for your optical needs. read more

They are always under staffed and everytime we go there we are rushed out. We had to pick up bifocals and because they are always rushing, they put the line in the wrong place. We had them redo it 3 times before we asked for a refund. Since that was not our first bad experience, we will not be back. read more

Waiting an hour to be seen, while i watched the staffs and doc complaint about previous patients!!!! Then they measured me wrong, which they told me "oh the lab made them wrong". I got text messages when the order was ready, i showed up of course it WAS NOT even sent out for correction yet. I was also told my glasses will be RUSHED order, and it's the same thing as regular order as I'm told. Please do not ever go there. read more

Don't do it to yourself - they give you a hard time when you ask for your PD # because they hate the idea of buying prescription glasses online. If you do happen to go there for an eye exam and need to file a complaint, good luck. You'll be going through lots of run-arounds from the 800 number to the distract managers. It took the distract managers weeks to follow up simply because they were moving...right. We regret going there so bad. read more

SUPER HAPPY-Excellent service at Watchung Target Optical. This particular Target, inside the regular Target, by the pharmacy, gave me shockingly great customer service when I got my new glasses. I had purchased the Target insurance (totally worth the $30 if you have kids or are rough on glasses) when I got a new pair about a year ago in another state and when I went to get them replaced in Watchung, they replaced them without hesitation and let me choose a different frame *of any price* bc they no longer carried the one I had originally gotten. The people there spent a lot of time with me, never made me feel rushed and when I went back, on a Sunday, an hour after they had *closed*, the manager woman still took my order! She was there late working after hours and saw me and let me in and let me browse since she had to work to do any way. They run this optical shop like an old-fashioned family-owned optician. I will definitely go back for my sunglasses. Then, to top it off, she upgraded my lenses to a high def lens at no extra charge bc she wanted me to be happy and satisfied with the new pair! It just goes to show that it is the *people* who operate each individual store that make it awesome. The woman, who, I think, manages the optical store in Watchung, sets a tone there and the guy and other woman who work there all focus on customer service, too. I completely recommend those hi def lenses(you will be shocked at the difference in clarity), the insurance and especially this branch of Target optical. My original pair, which were terrible progressive bifocals, were purchased out of state at a Target in CT and they never fit right and the rx seemed like it was off center. This woman remeasured me, twice and I am super happy with the result. Best part? The new glasses only cost me the $25 copay for progressives! read more
