I had one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever encountered at this location. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Rokosz for an eye exam and new glasses. Due to nearby construction, I arrived 13 minutes late and was told I needed to reschedule--which I completely understood. My appointment was moved to the next day. When I returned early the next day and politely asked the front desk if I could be seen sooner, the receptionist was dismissive and rude. I suggested that a more courteous response would have been appreciated. Instead of resolving the matter, she became argumentative. I left the store to wait for my scheduled time, only to receive a text 40 minutes before the appointment that it had been canceled. When I returned to ask why, I was told they were refusing to serve me due to being "disrespectful" and was even falsely accused of using profanity. The store manager then refused to provide her name, and when I said I would file a complaint with corporate, she threatened to file a complaint on me with the FTC--which was both absurd and unprofessional. As a customer needing vision services before an international trip, this was incredibly stressful. I later checked Yelp and saw similar complaints from others, so it appears this isn't an isolated incident. I strongly urge management to review the behavior of the staff at this location. I told the associatte even my prescription is trifocal i want computer and near and i spent 8+ a day on the computer and needed lenses designed for close and intermediate vision. Despite that, i was given distance-focus lenses that are completely wrong for my daily needs. This was not just a minor mistake, I struggled with blurry vision , headcheas and eye strain , I feel like they did not lsiten to me at all. I paid for custom lenses that dont meet my needs, and now im asking for either a proper replacement or a refynd and they rejected. Saul is amazing here. I walked in on a Friday evening and the first young lady with black long hair didn't even greet me and started with me but quickly passed me off to Saul. While he was trying to help me another young lady (employee) with glasses walked up to ask for a signature even though she saw he was having issues finding my account. The manager walked up to have him check her purse and then talked about correcting her hours for having to come back. Saul kept a cool and professional demeanor but I was frustrated for him. If he isn't the manager he should be. His ability to multitask and remain professional is rare nowadays. Even while helping me he managed to keep greeting people walking in, and let them know they would be helped soon. I had a really disappointing experience at LensCrafters recently, and it's a shame because it had nothing to do with the doctor, who was great. After checking in for my appointment, I waited for a whopping 40 minutes. To make matters worse, when I finished the exam, they demanded $60 from me. This was a shock, as when I initially booked my appointment over the phone, an employee assured me that my insurance would cover everything and I wouldn't have to pay a dime. The manager's response to this was less than satisfactory, claiming it wasn't true. Sadly, I ended up paying, and I won't be returning to this LensCrafters or any other in the future. Wow, could this appointment have gone any worse. First off, I was seen by a different doctor than I had booked the appointment with. Second, the doctor ordered me to do additional testing, and when the results came in, they didn't review them until after they gave a new patient their whole check-up. Completely disregarded me and saw a new patient. Third, the ordering system was completely down. I sat for 35 minutes waiting for them to try to reset the system, but no luck. They had to call me the day after to place a phone order. This whole experience took almost 2 hours. Not worth the pain for the convenient location. Go somewhere else. read more

The staff was really rude both in person and when I called to get my glasses. When I am buying any product I expect to be treated fairly and politely which I would assume are just general manners. This should hold true especially when buying expensive products like the $500+ glasses I ordered but that just wasn't true at this store. Will never visit this place again. read more

I went into this store on a Friday afternoon to look at glasses knowing if I found any I liked, I would make an eye appointment. All staff were helping someone else and one worker in particular handed me a tray and told me she would meet me back at a specific table to assist soon. Fast forward to me trying on glasses, nearing it down to three, and sitting and waiting... she had proceed to assist two other customers, both which came in after me. I got up and left. 1. Got a call to from a live person to pick up my glasses on a certain day. Got there that day and office was closed for renovation. 2. They never answer the phone, forcing me to go there in person to see if glasses are ready (they weren't). 3. Took 2 months for glasses to arrive. They got lost at some point (again, had to take time off work to go in to their office in person to find out they were lost). 4. Asked for prescription info over the phone. Was told they could only give it to me by fax, not verbally or by text or email. I don't (usually at least) carry a fax machine in my pocket. This would be understandable if it is LensCrafter policy. Eye exam went well, ok. Told on two separate occasions with my companion as a witness that my prescription eyeglasses would be ready in "4-5 working days" ok. Almost two weeks later I call and was told by Anna (mgr) that my glasses were Shipping today! When I objected to being misled/lied to. I was told that I was misinformed. When I got a little heated, Anna hung up on me! Very professional! Needless to say LensCrafters will not be on my Recommend list. Update: the business owner replied that I would get my eyeglasses "earlier than promised" this is of coarse almost one entire week AFTER the promised date I was told! This place has gone down the toilet... The staff are slow and very rude. My family and I have been going here for years. Over the years, the service has just gone down. They have new staff almost every single year, I don't even recognize anyone every time I come in. The managers seems rude and unprofessional. Second, the selection is limited and over priced. They don't have a lot of sunglasses options and most of the regular glasses they have are over priced. The only reason they get even one star is because the doctors are still amazing. When I went in for an eye exam, they tried to charge me $40 for a glaucoma test that I didn't get. I thought it was an innocent mistake. When I brought my kid in for her eye exam a month later, they tried to charge me for a contact lens exam that she didn't get. They also gave us a quote for glasses for my 12 year old that included $200 anti-reflective lenses which the guy told me were good for... NIGHTTIME DRIVING - lol! To Whom It May Concern: My father (who has been a Healthcare employee for 37 years and recently turned 65) recently informed me that he received unsatisfactory service during a routine exam on June 12, 2022. My father, myself, and my sister have frequented the Old Orchard location on several occasions for eye exams and to purchase eyewear. On this particular occasion, my father needed to use the restroom prior to his exam and asked a female associate where the nearest restroom was. My father was given directions to a restroom outside of Lens Crafters. Unfortunately, he was unable to locate the restroom and returned to Lens Crafters and asked a male associate if there was a restroom that he could use inside of Lens Crafters as he had to urgently use the restroom and the male associate showed my father where the restroom inside of Lens Crafters was. Needless to say, after my father's exam he opted not to purchase eyewear and lenses from Lens Crafters and has opted not to frequent Lens Crafters again and my sister and I will follow suit. The lack of empathy and respect that my father was shown is appalling. My father works on his feet with multiple patients daily and never disregards them. This scenario needs to be addressed and remedied immediately. We've been going to this location for years and up until now would have given it 4 or 5 stars, but the current staffing is pitiful. My husband got new glasses there recently and when he went to pick them up, the young woman had no idea how to adjust them - SHE WORKS IN AN OPTICAL STORE!! Yesterday, we went back to have them adjusted and again, another young woman's response was "they look fine to me", explained to us that eyebrows are "more like cousins than brothers and sisters" (say what????), and took the frames, bent the temple slightly and handed them back. Whoever is in charge of this place needs to start training their staff on fitting people with their glasses and keeping their opinions to themselves unless the customer asks them for it. Really bad. Confidence inspiring! My recent visit to LensCrafters could not have been more of a contrast than my last one at another leading national chain. I was warmly greeted immediately by Alex who checked me in and did the preliminary examinations. The equipment was new and unlike my last experience Alex competently used it. At the other national chain the equipment looked old and outdated, and certainly was not being used by somebody who knew what they were doing. I met with Dr. Pete who was extremely thorough and gave me a very detailed examination. Again this was a huge contrast to the other national chain. I recently developed an eye floater and he calmed all my concerns about it. It was also time to renew my prescription and I was shown an extensive range of frames. When I expressed the price range I was interested in I was shown only those in my budget and there was no pressure to upsell me. Again this was in very stark contrast to my last experience at the other national chain. Once I made my selection a young woman called Rao spent a significant time with a piece of equipment ensuring that my pupillary distance was properly measured. At the other national chain I never saw such a device. I just picked up my glasses and they work so much better than my previously prescribed glasses. I made an appointment for an eye exam over the phone and asked them if they take my insurance, they said they can only check when I'm there (MAKES NO SENSE!!!) when I went in they couldn't find me on the appointment list, anyway they eventually found me. After sitting there and waiting for over 20 minutes, one of the workers came over and told me that they don't take my insurance, this was a complete waste of my time! I was scheduled to see Dr. Pete for the first time. When I arrived for my appointment, I looked in the window and saw two female employees sitting less than 6 feet apart and talking but not wearing masks. They saw me looking at them and then got up and moved away from each other and put masks on. I called from outside the store to cancel my appointment. The woman I spoke to said she was the manager and confirmed she was the one I had seen but said she wasn't wearing a mask because the store was not open yet. This was 2 minutes before my appointment. Illinois does not provide exceptions to mask wearing in this circumstance. I will not be returning to LensCrafters due to the blatant disregard for COVID safety precautions. read more

I visited Lenscrafters in Old Orchard yesterday for my mother to have an eye exam . Everybody there was very nice and helpful. From the first person that greeted us to registration, eye exam. The dr. was very nice and understanding of my mom's eye issues. For picking up the frames we were helped by Roa who was delightful. Very nice and polite. She even adjusted my glasses that I did not purchase there. Also, we were assured if the glasses do not work for my mother we can return them. I would recommend this store to anybody. read more

We were LIED TO and an associate's text message was more important than taking care of issues. Partner and I purchased a pair of glasses for her. Andrea was nice throughout. When the lenses weren't to our liking in the frames, we were told it was the placement of her eyes in the frames, but completely ignored and talked over when we asked about thinner lenses. Finally, we were just lied to by having a gentleman say "it wouldn't matter anyway but no we don't offer thinner lenses." Interesting...we then just drove to another LensCrafters. They looked at my partner's prescription and asked why we chose the lenses we did. We said these were the thinnest available. The associate smiled and said, well, no. You were offered 1.6 lenses. LensCrafters offers a 1. 67 and a 1.74. The 1.74 lenses are the thinnest ones. All in all, we were lied to by this location time and time again. Text messages were even being answered via an apple watch while we were being assisted. Unbelievable approach toward customer service. I get it's the NorthShore and people make unbelievable demands. We just wanted thinner lenses and they are offered by LensCrafters. What was so hard about this? read more

Horrible horrible service and very rude employees. I have been going to this facility for a long time, too long for a lack of effort on my part to find some place more respectful, and the place keeps getting worse. The employees here get a training on being rude and inefficient. They do not answer their phone. If they do, they keep you on hold and if you talk to a live person, they are useless. You have to go in person and then they are rude again. Actual conversation. "Hi, I spoke to someone and I am here to pick up my prescription". (Rudely) "You need to be 18 to pick up a prescription". "I am 18". (Rudely) " Well, then you have to wait. I am very busy. I have to attend to that customer and that customer". "I spoke and they said it would be ready, but I will wait". Tries to sit on a chair. (Rudely & Loudly) "No no no, you cannot sit here. You need to wait outside the store since you have no business here". "I have business. Picking up my prescription". (Rudely) "No. You need to leave and come back as you are a distraction". Went on and on. Waited outside the store for 40 minutes and eventually got my prescription. Sigh! Need to get off my ass and find a better provider. read more

Beware of the extra procedures performed prior to your actual eye exam. If you have insurance, be sure to always ask: "is this covered by my insurance?" During the eye exam, the fast talking tech will just tell you to sit here and there and walk over to different rooms with different machines. I have EyeMed coverage which does NOT cover the OptoMap service. In place of dilation, they perform this extra service. Unfortunately, they do not explain insurance does not cover this $49 procedure. My lenses came in over three weeks late. And I had to do the follow up myself. Apparently there was a mix up somewhere so my lenses were never ordered. The location managers (lab & store) contacted me to apologize. I came in to have the lenses installed in my existing frames. I had to send my glasses back to the lab THREE times! 1. Incomplete work - I paid for the roll & polish. That was never done. I have a high grade prescription and I always opt to pay for the additional service. The employee then verifies my receipt to make sure I did pay for it. He walks away for several minutes. 2. Lab refuses to complete the work - He returns and says that the lab cannot roll & polish my lenses. Something about the light would reflect back to my eyes, blah blah. I cut him off right away and tell him that my old lenses had the roll & polish applied. He looks at the lens and confirms it was indeed possible. Then asks me if the lenses are plastic. That was the WTF moment for me that this guy did not really know what he was talking about. 3. Lab botches the lens install. Confirmed the roll & polish was completed. However, a wire was sticking out from the top of the frame. I have semi-rimless frames. So it's the wire which keeps the lens in place. While my frames are being worked on - now by the lab manager, a guy in a coat approaches me. At first, I thought he was another customer. He proceeds to tell me I need to clean my glasses better. "The wires in your glasses are full of dirt!" I then tell him I don't know what he's talking about and ask who he is. He says that he's the guy who initially worked on my frames. I tell him I always clean my lenses with an eyeglass cleaner and a microfiber cloth. He then tells me not to spray directly at the lenses to clean them. I asked him if he's saying it is now my fault for him not being able to install my lenses properly. He pretends not to hear me and continues on the "proper cleaning procedure." I guess it was his way to explain why he screwed up the work on my lenses and frames. Save your time and find another location or go with a competitor. read more

I had a great experience here recently. I happened to be at the mall on a weekday afternoon, had extra time, needed new glasses, and so I stopped in. They weren't busy and took me in for an eye exam without a wait. They even found my file from a few years ago. The doctor was pleasant and professional. I worked with Anna to choose frames and she was patient and helpful. It took a while for me to choose but when I was ready she willingly priced out the various lens options so I could make an informed decision. I didn't feel any pressure to choose expensive add-ons. I had simple progressive lenses made and they were ready within an hour. I put them on and they were great. No adjustment period even though I hadn't been wearing glasses for quite a while. (Lost the previous pair.) I think it was because she was very careful about taking measurements before the lenses were made. Today I happened to be at the mall and so I stopped by because my frames were a little bit crooked. They fixed them immediately, no questions asked. I'm very happy with my experience at this store and I'd go back. read more

So, for the last 10 years I've gone to a private optometrist who uses a custom lab that is supposedly better for my degree of astigmatism. But when traveling in Chicago I busted my delicate $1200 glasses 6 hours before flying on to New York. It's Sunday afternoon, and I had no choice but to go to the chain store with supposedly less precise mass-produced lenses. Lens Crafters was the only thing open. Well, am am going no place else from now on. This particular Lens Crafters was FANTASTIC, due largely to the unusually expeditious, careful, and courteous service provided by one exceptional chap named Nick! My glasses--which typically cost $1200 --cost $400. And Nick was able to get insurance to knock off $120. I told Nick about my predicament, and he had them made in an hour. And he texted me when they were done so I could shop and have coffee to kill the time. When I got the glasses, I was surprised to find the optical quality every bit as good as my usual $1200 glasses. And the selection of frames was a veritable cornucopia of Burberry, Armani, Gucci, Oakley, etc This place exemplifies how American businesses should be run. read more

I came to upgrade a pair of glasses. I was treated very rude by man behind the counter. Tall heavy set guy with a beard. he said that they didn't have appointments. I told him that I didn't need an exam. He snapped at me and said do you have a prescription. I replied not with me. he said it again. I said no. he gave me a card and told me to get it. I've done this before and they always call the place and have it faxed. Not the way to do business. This upgrade was going to cost $800. Don't come here. they don't want your business. This review is for Dr. Pamela Marzec. I ordered a pair of bifocals from the shop recently, and Dr Marzec gave me the eye exam. I told her I had issues with the bifocals I purchased in the past years from JC Penny optical, Sears Optical and the LensCrafters store in Golf Mill. Those pairs never worked well for me, either I couldn't see the distance clearly or had trouble reading books. I was always told that it was the way the bifocals supposed to work and they couldn't fix them. Dr. Marzec was amazing. She found that were problems with the previous prescriptions and the focus point measurement. She examed my vision thoroughly and gave detailed instructions to the store associate who took the measurements for me. A few hours later, I picked up the glasses and that was the first time I'm fully satisfied with my bifocals. Dr. Marzec was nice, profession and very knowledgeable, I believe she's one of the best optical doctors in this area. If I need to order new glasses, I will definitely look for her! And will definitely refer to my friends. read more

I put off getting an eye exam for a really long time. When I was finally motivated enough to go, I was happy to be able to get a same-day appointment with Dr. Pete. I was a little late for the appointment, but I was seen right away and exam did not take very long. The optometrist was very nice and patient with my questions. After my exam, I decided to buy new glasses and sunglasses because there was an end-of-year sale. The technician who helped me was okay - friendly enough, but not particularly straightforward about the pricing. My glasses were ready in about an hour. When I came back, she didn't have me try the glasses on and I didn't think much of it and left. When I got home, I noticed that the glasses kept sliding down my nose and the polarized sunglasses made me a little dizzy. I tried to get used to both pairs of glasses for two weeks, but to no avail. I was pretty irritated since I spent a small fortune on the exam, glasses, and sunglasses. I returned to the store yesterday and spoke with another technician, maybe Brad, who was very friendly and immediately adjusted the regular glasses so that they don't slide as much. He adjusted the sunglasses a bit, but I'll need to give it a few days to see if he fixed the problem. I was very happy with his quick response to my problems. Overall, I'm disappointed that neither pair of glasses was made right the first time around, but I am glad that I was able to get some help yesterday. read more

Bought a pair of Persol glasses (prescription, not cheap). IMMEDIATELY after I bought them the coating or something was coming off the lenses so that I was unable to see through them. Went back and I was told (preposterous) that it was the way I was cleaning them, which I explained was with the chamois they provided. Nothing was done for me (and the young lady was decidedly rude). As I was leaving for a period of time I went elsewhere to have another pair made . Back now, need new glasses and stumbled upon these. Dawned on me I never bitched about this. Made the mistake of going to this location with my daughter to get glasses on March 14, 2020 only to have the most horrible appalling insulting and outrageous experience due to the management and staff incompetence we both had separate orders of glasses yet they ordered the duplicate same frame and lens causing us to have multiple trips during the COVID-19 lockdown. As a former Employee it allowed me to see their lack of customer service an discriminative manner. Tanya /Jackie refused to acknowledge nor take ownership of the obvious error instead shifted blame became sarcastic & juvenile instead of resolving the issue with tact , Decorum and professionalism. I asked for their Regional Manager I reported them to their hotline awaiting a response. I also shared it with VSP insurance which they don't list them in network Thank God! I urge customers to reconsider patronizing this location Luxotica Eyewear needs to overhaul this store immediately.
