The store reps are very pushy with extra products (e.g., blue lenses to protect from computer light). LensCrafters is out of network for a lot of insurance providers, but are very careful not to explicitly tell you this. They told me they "could not find me in the system" and that "something was wrong with my insurance" when in reality, they were out of network and NOT COVERED by my insurance. I made the mistake of paying them thinking that I will sort out the insurance later. The joke's on me. Having decided to never buy from this store again, I still wanted to get a copy of my prescription from them. I had to call three different times to get them to fax a copy of the prescription. Fax! In 2018! They are doing everything they can to prevent me from getting my own prescription. read more

It's a shame having to see the downfalls of what once was a very well run store. All of the good people have left and as a result there is so much turn over at this location. I went through a nightmare of waiting over a month to receive contact lenses that normally takes 5 business days. I find out the store didn't even place the order with the manufacturer until 3 weeks AFTER originally contacting them. Worse, every time I contacted an associate at this store no one seemed to have any recollection thus requiring to repeat the same request over and over. Finally, after raising my voice to an employee (who would not stop talking) and mentioning to her a regional manager from corporate will be looking into the matter the contacts magically appeared! Couldn't script it if you paid me. What a joke of a store. Entire place is poorly run. Never ever coming back. read more

I had some concerns when reading all the reviews but normally go to the mall & needed contacts fast. The staff was very friendly and there was no wait for my appointment. The doctors are very nice and helpful when picking out new contact lenses. The lenses came really quick (4 days) and overall was a joy to go there. It seems like a lot of the negative reviews are very one off examples of the customer service that you actually receive and would recommend this place! read more

Whew. I wish this place were better but there are just things...like, it seems to always be understaffed. I recently got a new pair of glasses there and on the first visit I wandered around for probably 45 min. before anyone approached to see if I needed help. And there really wasn't anyone to ask. Another time I stood in front of someone typing away on the checkout terminal for a good 3 minutes before they bothered to look up and acknowledge my presence - whatever happened to "Hi - I'll be with you shortly." Another time someone handed me my newly made glasses and said there you go. I had to ask him to wipe the fingerprints off. It took multiple visits to get the prescription right. I'm not going to fault them for that as I am tough to fit, but each time, I noticed a general air of neglect about the place. read more

A couple of things. First they take too long to order glasses, over two weeks is too long in the age of Amazon. BlueIQ, is the new upsell just set yes at the very beginning or everyone will nag you to get it no matter how many times you say no. It was endless. Watch for the bait and switch on the price of frames. The sticker has a low price then after you order your glasses, they come but they are the wrong frames. They say oh sorry we messed up the frame you picked out had a wrong price tag. Let me reorder the right one, oh and by the way the price is more we need $50 more. Total scam, go somewhere else. read more

There is a lencrafters optique in my area, but when I went inside I felt like it was too snobby for me and my wife. We looked up this lencrafters online and made an appointment not knowing what to expect. I also read the other reviews from other lenscrafters and agree that all lenscrafters are not the same. We were very pleasantly surprised at how well we were treated. The optometrist, Dr Losurdo, was very nice, very professional, and very informative. My wife and I agree we would definitely recommend him to all our friends and family. I would give him 5 stars. The person who helped us was great as well. I think her name was Lauren. Also five stars. Never pressured to buy anything and informed us of all our lens options and insurance benefits. Very helpful and nice. We made the appointment for 9AM on a Saturday and the website told us the Lenscrafters didn't open until 10AM so we were concerned because we were meeting up with someone after our appointment and wanted to have enough time to pick out glasses. The optometrist is in the Lenscrafters, not physically next door like the website says which is a little confusing. Website is wrong and needs updating. Hope that helps others. Also what wasn't so clear was the location in the mall. Basically turn right on Kingery Highway like they say and follow the road all the way around the mall, past the Sears Garage and it will be right next to the Bloomingdale Home and Furniture Store. They didn't have a huge selection, but I had no problem finding glasses that I liked. They had to special order a lens for my wife's glasses, so I will pick mine up when they come in. I don't know why they schedule appointments for kids because the technicians and equipment cannot handle kids. I should have learned the first time, but apparently I am a glutton for punishment and tried again. The doctors have been fantastic, but the rest of the store needs a lot of help. While I am not in in the business of writing less than stellar reviews, or any sort of reviews at all, I feel it's important to share my trials and tribulations with LensCrafters in Oak Brook. I have been purchasing my glasses from LensCrafters for at least a solid four-years, and have had positive and negative experiences. The positives include friendly customer service, i.e. I am always greeted upon immediately entering the store. And, they carry a varied frame selection, which is why I originally switched to purchasing my glasses from LensCrafters, because my private eye-doctor did not have a diverse frame inventory in his office. Although, the selection at LensCrafters in the past few years has been less than impressive... Other negative experiences include ordering new lenses, dropping of my frames for the exchange, and in less than 24-hours discovering scratches on my newly ordered lenses. Also, although they measure me with their "AccuFit Digital Measurement system," which they claim is "five times more precise," my glasses have NEVER fit me properly. They claim it is because I have a strong prescription that alters the original measurement and flexibility of the frames. However, in all the years I ordered my glasses from my private eye-dcotor's office, my glasses were ALWAYS measured correctly and fit perfectly on my face, even after wearing them for a period, and also having a very strong prescription... I am in my mid-twenties and have been wearing glasses since I was around the age of 9-years old, so I know how to properly take care of my glasses. For example, what to clean them with--i.e. the cleaning spray they sell in stores. And, what sort of material is safe for the lenses--i.e. the cloth they give to you with your glasses. In all of the fifteen-years I have been wearing glasses, I've never had as many scratches on my lenses and damages to my frames since purchasing my glasses at LensCrafters. While they are friendly and try very hard to please their customers, LensCrafters is unreliable, over-priced, and crafts a low-quality product immeasurable to the merchandise produced by other manufacturers. My recommendation? Eek! Methinks not indeed, LensCrafters! read more

I recently went into LensCrafters and from the moment I walked in I felt super uncomfortable. The person who spoke to me as soon as I walked in seemed like she was forcing herself to be polite. The person who measured my glasses and was checking me out kept saying I would look crazy if I didn't get a certain type of lens and would get frustrated after I said no at least 5 times or more. Finally after spending 10 unnecessary hours at the Lens Crafters in Oak Brook, I went to ta different one where they discovered my RX was incorrect, fixed it, and now I can see. I would advise EVERYONE out there to steer clear of the Lens Crafters in Oak Brook. Was sold knock off ray ban prescription sunglasses.. There ray ban products are knock off be careful of this place. FYI raybans are made in Italy not China.. I noticed because I have Ray-Ban sunglasses that I purchased at sunglass hut in Macy's located at the Oakbrook mall, the prescription glasses from LensCrafters just felt so cheap and like they were made as cheaply as possible. read more

I got my glasses from this location in May but they weren't fitting as well as I'd like. Today I came in at around 2:30 and a young man (I want to say his name was Tyler, he had blonde hair) was extremely helpful and kind. Even though I didn't make an appointment he didn't rush and he made sure my glasses fit just right! Amazing customer service! read more

The service in the beginning was great. Everyone was nice and the eye exam was quick and easy. Even the difficult task of choosing an appropriate glass frame with the help of their staff was effortless. It took less than a week for the glasses to be made. Come back in a few days later to find my new glasses and staff their to help adjust them properly in a few minutes. Come back home and look in the mirror to find that the Ray-Bans were tilted. Took them off to see the problem to find that the hinges were bent, causing the left temple to be much higher. Also found that one of the lenses were not even placed in the frame correctly so I had to pop them in myself. Would at least expect a company like this to have the lenses placed properly in the frame. Time to go back to get these fixed. read more

I have been going to this particular LensCrafters for years. Yesterday (Sunday) I spent 4.5 hours in the store. I am giving them 2 stars instead of one because the doctors are great, eyeglass selection is decent and their do work hard to get you the "best" pricing (tho their pricing is really confusing). I did the full package, doctor appointment, new prescription and purchased 3 pairs of glasses. I would expect all of that to take about 2 hours. I made an appointment on-line but arrived at the mall early, so I thought why not see if they can take me early. They sure did take me early. It took no time for me to pick out my glasses. They quickly sent me to the pre-doctor exam, which took no time, that technician did a great job. Then they left me in the wait area for the doctor. That's where I sat, and sat, and sat. They sent 3 or4 patents to the doctors before me that were not even in my waiting room (no one was waiting). There are no magazines in the waiting room. Naturally I complained about the wait and they told me I was on schedule for my normal appointment!! So why did they take me early? But then after they told me that, I waited another 30 minutes. All told I waited an hour to see the doctor from the time they finished my pre-exam. Then I waited for one of the technicians to fit my glasses and price it all out. I had to stand for the initial meeting with the technician as no desks were available. I don't think it's her fault but I wanted the sunglasses to have the exact tint that the pair I picked out had, but there was no way for her to figure out what those were. The fitting took another hour. Not sure if was their technology or the technician. I think she had to go to the back room every time after finishing fixing on pair so that she can proof her work. I agree she should proof her work, but perhaps there's a more efficient way to do that. My prescription isn't very high but they did not have my lenses in stock. So after spending my entire Sunday afternoon at LensCrafters, at least I was in the OakBrook Mall were I could go to Wildfire and get a few glasses of wine. read more

I have been having eye exams every year for pretty much my entire life, and I was impressed by the thoroughness of the exam. They were very detailed and the doctor didn't stop until he and I were both completely satisfied with my prescription. They were very patient and knowledgeable and I would definitely return. With my insurance, rebates and sales, I ended up spending around $150 for the exam and one year of contacts. The only area of concern for me is their frame selection. The room was filled with all designer brands, and I didn't see a single frame for under $160. I don't really feel comfortable paying big bucks for a pair of glasses that I wear 10 minutes a day, but hopefully they will work with me to use my current frames. If you need contacts and a comprehensive exam, this is a great place to visit. Also, they allow you to register and make appointments online so it is very easy to get started! read more

I was surprised to see a few negative comments about the Oak Brook center location. My experience was great! I did not have my exam here, but did bring in my prescription to be filled. I just picked up my new glasses yesterday and love them! Just as important was the service received both when I placed the initial order and when I picked them up. On both occasions I was assisted by Rehman. Super Star! He was incredibly diligent with all the required measurements and my new glasses are certainly evidence of that. Best service I have ever had at an eye doctor. Very nice employees and the doctor was great! I had to wait 5 minutes to be called in. I will definatly continue to go here for future eye exams. And the best part was I had my glasses ready to go in less than an hour. I never leave reviews but I felt I had to because of the quality service I recieved. Yes my glasses were pricey even with insurance but I opted for some higher end glasses and the works. I love my glasses and I can see clearly now :D read more

I recently purchased a pair of frames and progressive lenses from the LensCrafters in the Oak Brook Mall and was extremely pleased with the service and attention to detail. I worked with Brad and he was the best. I'm sure I was one of his more difficult clients as I never wore progressive lenses before and started with a competitor that went bad. Brad made sure the frames fit correct and were comfortable and that the progression on the lenses were perfect. I bought my sons glasses from here. I already had a prescription so we were just choosing frames. They had a good variety to choose from which is not always the case with children's frames.
