My experience was great. The man found what I wanted. Explained everything perfectly. My glasses came in earlier than expected. He remembered me from the order day. I told him I would walk around the mall and see if the glasses needed and adjustment before I left and he said come back will be here all day if you need anything. This place has more Oakley glasses for sale than the Oakley store and more choices. The Oakley store only offers their glasses certain ways and it doesn't matter what the customer wants. LensCrafters offers all the same glasses and more any way you want to have them made. It's not even worth going to see their choices because LensCrafters has more to look at. They just must sell more glasses than even the Oakley store. But if you want to be extra cool and be seen buying your glasses in the Oakley store that's definitely the place for you. read more

My best friends glasses broke all the sudden one day and he is pretty much blind without glasses so he needed them asap. We called around everywhere and got the run around from most glass stores. Lenscrafters in madison heights was no help so we made an appointment for westland and we got his prescription and glasses he wanted without insurance. It was pricey. At the end the lady said it would take 7-10 days until he would get them. Mad we weren't going to get them right away we went to the twelve oaks mall where we were greeted nicely and within minutes took care of us. I've been going here for a few years. Two years ago they said I had a little cataract starting. Nothing to worry about. The following year a different doctor told me when I told him my glasses weren't good that until I had cataract surgery that's the best he could do. I went to a specialist that said my glasses were very off and not close to my script. And I didn't need the surgery for at least 3-4 years. Won't go back. Last year I had an eye exam at LensCrafters and the optometrist told me that the prescription he was giving me wasn't perfect, but it was the best he could do. I should have taken that as a bad sign and went somewhere else, but instead I spent over $300 on a frame and lens set. The prescription doesn't match perfectly with my eyes' needs and because of this they're not comfortable to wear. So, over a year later I decided to make a new appointment and purchase a new set of glasses. I arrived on time and was told by the person at the desk to check out frames while she filled out my paperwork. I went to the frame section and started trying on frames. Soon after, a young woman (probably in her late twenties) in a lab coat, whom I'm assuming was a tech, started trying on frames. She was clearly on the clock and just trying to pass time. She would try on a frame and ask her coworkers how they looked on her. In minutes she took over the section I was looking at, as well as the only mirror, as she tried on many frames and then finally gave up and decided to chit chat with the other employees. I felt that this was invasive and unnecessary. She was an employee of the store and was literally pushing a paying customer out of the way, ultimately loosing her store at least $350. I left the store before my eye exam and will not be returning. I did see a frame I liked at the store for $190 and found it on Amazon as a demo (which is what LC gives you anyway) for $85. I will be purchasing those frames and getting an eye exam and lenses from a better quality optical store. read more

Dr. Rose is the best! She is so knowledgeable, kind, easy to talk to, outgoing, and funny. You can tell she really loves her job. The exam was so thorough, she answered all my questions, the location is clean and up to date, and the staff are all positive and helpful. So OVERPRICED! I went there with a pair of glasses where the frames were in good shape, I just needed to lenses. They told me that they couldn't do that. (I'm not sure if they were just telling me that to get me to buy a new pair of glasses) So I decided to look and see how much new glasses would cost. They were having a half off lenses sale. I picked out a frame that was 140 dollars and asked how much it would cost to have lenses put in. Nothing fancy, like transitions lenses or anything, just normal lenses. They wanted 700 dollars! And that's WITH the sale price of half off lenses. No thanks... Got a brand new pair of glasses at Costco the next day for 170 dollars out the door. read more

Horrible place.no appreciation to the product. I went in to make a pair of lens that will fit with my lens. I choose Barton Perreira that I got from my NY trip. It is one of the most detailed and meticulous frame maker. I placed my frame at LensCrafters which whole entire process just horribly managed and needed to wait until manager discount thingy that has nothing to do with me if they know what they are doing. I waited for a day and went back to pick up my frame the next day. I was freaking out but how it changes shape. I gave them a chance for 3 times. And I gave up just because they have bad eye. Pretty fancy LensCrafters with the recent renovations, it's the only chain that carries Ray Ban frames which I love. The place gets pretty busy on the weekends and they have some trouble keeping up at times so it's best to show up earlier when no one is there. I was able to get a Sunday eye exam appt pretty easily and the exam went well. They have the latest electronics including a machine that almost automatically tells you your prescription. I declined the retinal scan which would have cost an extra $30 on top of the standard eye exam but that meant getting dilated the old school way. Glasses were done is under an hour and they fitted them well. All the staff members were super friendly and helpful. Overall happy that I came here and would gladly come back. read more

They are the worst. Please don't go here ever. They are lying to customer to disguise their irresponsibility. I went and had an exam with them, told them I want this Prada sunglasses which comes into two colors only: Brow and Black. They didn't have the black one so I have to order online and come back to pick up later. Note: I paid for the sunglasses in full on that day . Then after more than a week, I did not hear anything which is rare because it should not take them that long. They told me that they received the wrong color PINK !!! wth I don't think that glasses come in pink, so obviously I have to wait again. I told them why dont you call me and tell me that Oh we are actually about to call you. Oh okay ! That's a lie. 2 weeks after, I called them again ! I think their prices are a bit much when you don't have insurance. However, they usually have some great promotions going on to help cut some of the cost down. I got prescription glasses for my kid. The quality of lens was not good. Even after taking good care of glasses, the lens-coating came off in couple of months. I got it repaired three time. But, the problem with lens-coating came off after 3-4 months every time. Before coming to Lenscrafters, I got glasses from Walmart, Costco. I never had this issue earlier. Every time, they blame us for problem with lens-coating. In my family, three members have glasses for many years. We take care of glasses very well. I have gone to Lenscrafters for 2 years with my teenage kids. I did not like the pushing towards the higher priced frames which should have told me something. When my local Wixom Meijer opened a Meijer Optical store, I decided to give them a try. Dr Gordon was wonderful, much better exam than Lenscrafters, and she told me 1. that my glasses I was wearing had not been properly placed in the frame, and 2, told my daughter that lenscrafters had placed her into the most expensive contact lenses. Meijers gave choices that were honest, and we couldn't be happier. I'm writing this to let you know that there are places out there that are not all about selling you something, and more about what you need. I have Eyemed insurance which covers quite a bit, but still have to pay out of pocket , so why would I go back to Lenscrafters? I won't! read more

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a business. My wife and I both had eye exams which we scheduled a week in advance. We showed up for it and were told we are not on the schedule by the person who scheduled us. My wife spent over $1000 on 2 pair of glasses. I ordered 1. We went back 6 consecutive Sundays and they still couldn't get her glasses right. In fairness, mine were OK on the 1st try. We got her money back. We went to Visionworks where they had to re-do the eye exam. They came up with totally different results and had it right on the 1st try. The Eye Doctors at Lenscrafters were not competent and Clayton screwed up just about everything he touched. Wish I could give a better review, but they wasted a lot of my valuable time, gas, and patience. And my insurance did not cover a second exam. read more

The place is understaffed. The staff are very enthusiastic to get you come in for exam and buy a pair of glasses. However, once you are there, they will have you wait for a long time to get the glasses. If you have any problems with your insurance, then you really are out of luck.
