I brought my elderly mother to the Avalon location to get prescription glasses. They filled the lenses wrong. When my mother came back alone and told them she could not see, they insisted the glasses were correct. Then they offered to give her another eye exam. For an additional charge. To fix their own mistake. Let me say that again. They made the wrong lenses. Told a 76+ year-old woman she was wrong. Then tried to charge her again. I came to the store to resolve this. I had the original prescription. The lenses did not match. This was not a matter of opinion. It was a verifiable error. Instead of apologizing and issuing a refund, the staff argued, deflected, and eventually called mall security on me. Security came. Security did nothing. Because I was right. They finally issued a full refund. But only after I refused to leave and only after several other customers in the store witnessed the entire thing and walked out. My mother is visiting from overseas. She needed these glasses. She is leaving in days and now has no glasses because this store wasted weeks of her time with a product they made incorrectly and then defended as correct. If you are elderly, if you do not speak perfect English, if you are someone who might not push back, be very careful here. The staff at this location will tell you the problem is your eyes, not their work. And they will try to charge you to fix what they broke. I got my money back. Most people will not read more

I took my glasses in for repair and the person who took them was VERY rude. She wouldn't take me last name and I had to cajole a time out of her. She just said well call you I said today, tomorrow, next week? She said " probably" tomorrow but was irritated I had the nerve to ask. If they can't get your insurance information to come up on their little tablet, they expect you to pay full price and self-submit. Or, you can come back and start the process all over again. Who has time for that?!? But no, they won't do something obvious, like actually try to get the correct insurance information, or simply hold onto your information and try to process it again tomorrow. My experience at LensCrafters was shocking to say the least. I went in for an exam to get some prescription eyeglasses since I was long overdue for an exam. Dr. Norma is a nice doctor & I believe genuinely cares about patients BUT I felt like the process was rushed. I did not receive a complete eye exam that I paid for and was told I have kerotoconus(?)...She basically tried to encourage me to get special contact lenses to help with this eye disease...I do not want contact lenses. She told me that she would email me a referral to an ophthalmologist, it's day 3 and I've yet to receive it. I won't be back! read more

With my chronic use of laptops and phone, I was starting to worry about my eyes. Since it had been a very, very long time since I've had an exam (seriously don't remember one since my cursory visit at DMV when I was 16), I finally decided to get my act together and go see someone. This particular LensCrafters is at the Avalon. I chose this business, because my friend had gone here and seen Sylvia, who diagnosed her glaucoma, when she had seen two other ophthalmologists who had missed this crucial diagnosis. I arrived on time, and was promptly greeted. I had to fill out a quick information sheet about my health, and then was ushered back. I love how punctual they were. The exam was extremely comprehensive. I guess I was overly amazed, because it's been so long since I've had a checkup I didn't even realize there was such a high tech exam available. My eyes were exhausted after the exam, but I was happy to find out I had 20/20 vision still. She did suggest the lowest possible prescription for computer use only, because my eyes start burning after staring at CT reports and lab values on patients, and constant documenting on patients after seeing them. Sylvia was fantastic! She was patient, kind, did an extremely thorough job, and took her time with me. She answered any questions I had, and was very competent. I'm thankful I finally got my eyes checked, and was treated well by the entire staff. Excellent experience, and would recommend to anyone. read more

Terrible service! I had to call the store in order to ask if the defective frames that were to be replaced had arrived to the Avalon, GA store. Initially I was told they did NOT arrive, despite the managers assurance they would arrive by this day of the week. After mentioning this I later received a callback that same day that the frames actually did arrive!! But this entire scenario should have been avoided anyway because my initial eyeglass frame failed after TWO MONTHS of use!! After purchasing them in October 2022 the left temple joint failed in December 2022. During that time I had at least a couple lens swaps. But at 1st the store manager insisted I would need to buy another frame at full cost, despite the above, because I did not pay for the added profit that Luxotica demands with the "insurance" for glasses. Also, upon receiving my latest frame I DID buy this insurance, but the associate that rang me up, Kaitlyn, was not only unable to provide the exact date that this becomes effective, but also told me that the full price of this "insurance" does NOT cover the lenses. So I am charged the full price for this "insurance" that would normally include the lenses AND frames. LensCrafters has screwed up numerous times with my order. The frame was defective, they attempted to charge me full price for a replacement of a defective frame, and the repeated swap outs of the lenses in this frame likely caused the frame to fail. Also, managements ability to rectify the matter is hand-tied by "corporate policy". Furthermore, the associates in the store are not trained to provide necessary and basic info. So, this week I had another eye exam at Peachtree Eye Associates in the back of the store. After getting my new Rx Kaitlyn asked if she could enter that into the system. I imagine this is so they can sell me another pair of glasses. This time I said "I'm going to pass!" I will NOT pay LensCrafters to abuse me again. They may think they have a stranglehold on the industry but they do actually have competition. Don't go to LensCrafters and especially this store. They are arrogant, unhelpful, and overpriced. read more

My vision has changed and I need an eye exam and new pairs of glasses. My two eyes have different prescription and in the past several eye exam didn't give me the right prescription. I am very pleased that Dr. Zuniga gave me perfect prescriptions, one for driving and one for reading. Lena crafter has a lot of selections for glasses and I got my favorite sun glasses this time. It actually made me feel good. For the reading glasses, it turns out the frame was not a right choice as my eye lashes would touch the lens and make it blurry. The store let me pick a different frame as it is within 30 days satisfaction guarantee. To sum up, great doctor, lots of selections for frames, and superior customer service. Disappointing customer service and attitude. Went to Avalon to have the nose pad replaced on my glasses and was told I would have to come back to get it repaired as it would take time to find the right size. No one was in the store so I asked if they could please check now. She turned around found the right size within minutes, replacing the missing one. The optometrist, Dr Norma was fantastic. However, when I went out to the lobby to pick frames and get my lenses it was not as great of an experience. They had to remake my lenses twice, and I actually had to return om tow of the frames I picked because the associate said the other associate should have told me they were not appropriate for someone wearing progressives. It took several weeks to get my glasses. In the end, it all worked out, but it was hard to get it all straightened out. read more

The only positive thing is they have amazing frames; however, prices are egregious even with an insurance. Contacts costs 60% more than Sam's Club or Costco. Needless to mention the terrible optometrists, both of them. They gave me a prescription that was a - 4.75 instead of -5.75. Horrible experience at this location. They insisted I had to have an appointment when I already had an eye exam and prescription in hand. Turns out, I was right - I didn't need an exam but just needed to discuss my prescription, yet they didn't give me the $70 back. When I did talk to the doctor was horribly rude, condescending, and aggressive - and the store manager never followed up even though I requested a follow up call to discuss the offensive behavior. There are far too many competent and professional places in Atlanta to get a decent customer experience - save yourself the headache of dealing with these people. read more

Wow! I had the best eye appointment ever! The entire check in process is electronic. You don't have to worry about touching pens or anything like that. Before you are seen, you are directed to a sink with an auto soap dispenser. All of the exam equipment is in 1 room and separated by plastic curtains. Everything is wiped down before and after each use. All staff members are polite and knowledgeable. Dr. Suji was prompt and very nice as well. He has helped me get rid of my 5 pairs of reading glasses with an amazing contact lens prescription! I am testing out a sample pair but I am 100% sure that I will be placing an order! I called to get details about what they cover as part of a comprehensive eye exam. Susie told me that she needed to create a record for me before she could share anything. She initially said that she needed my name, email and phone. After getting that, she said that she wanted DOB, address, and other details. How data hungry and cheap do you have to be to collect whatever data you can about people? If I have a data security issue, they will certainly be on my watch list. read more

These guys did a great job of getting my son his glasses quickly when he broke his old glasses and needed a prescription (Peachtree Eye Associates, also in this location, was phenomenal), and also sold me a pair of prescription sunglasses as well. They sold me on the insurance for the glasses for my son, and based on his past history with glasses and the fact that he's an active eight-year-old boy, I'll likely end up using the insurance at some point. If the insurance is as easy as they made it sound, I may bump this a star. My only real con is the same con that I have for many other places that sell glasses. They all want to charge an exorbitant amount for anti-glare coating on glasses. I get that it's part of the Luxottica glasses monopoly, but it's nonsense. Even after the VSP insurance that I pay for every month, I spend more on anti-glare coating after insurance than I do for a full pair of frames over at Zenni that come with anti-glare coating. With exception of the anti-glare pricing, my complaints are very minor, and I would definitely recommend this place as being far better than the other glasses chains I've had recent experiences with. The only prescription glasses store I've had a better experience with was a locally owned place when I lived in New York, and I would definitely recommend this place for people in/around Alpharetta over the alternatives I've had experience with here. EDIT: I called up to get the pupillary distance used for my son's glasses, the glasses I paid LensCrafters for, and Nicole would not give it to me. She told me it was company policy to not release Pupilary Distance due to the proprietary camera system they use to figure out PD. (Their system pegged me at 63.9, when I'm used to the old school systems pegging me at 64) She told me I could visit with my son, and that they would use the traditional method to give me his PD, but they couldn't give out their AccuFit measurement for me to order online with. (I'm ordering a dirt cheap pair of Zenni glasses to function as an emergency backup so that if ever leveraging their insurance policy to fix my son's glasses, he has glasses to wear while his current glasses are repaired.) I find it insulting and dishonest to tell someone that you will not reveal the pupilary distance of the glasses they have purchased. If my son were to have headaches with these new glasses, and I took him to an eye doctor and they asked what the PD was, would LensCrafter have the gall to say that they don't reveal that information? I'm only marking this review down one-star (as opposed to more) because when I called back and spoke with someone else, they did share the PD used. That is one data point, and I'll continue to use a metric ruler to reconfirm PD. No, I'm not going to hold LensCrafter accountable for whatever backup glasses I order, and I hope if anyone from LensCrafter reads this that they reprimand Nicole for her poor customer service, and not the person who was decent enough to tell me what I'd purchased from them. read more

I just went here to get some glasses, after getting a prescription across the street. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised. Although I was probably a pretty easy customer...I walked around and found some cool frames, knew what my insurance paid for, and had correct expectations. The lady I worked with was very nice, helpful and low pressure on the extras. I will update the review based on getting and trying my glasses next week...but so far so good! read more

I'm not sure which eye doctor and/or optician the other reviewer saw, but I had a perfectly fine experience with both the eye doctor (Dr. Zuniga of Peachtree Eye Associates, which is independent of Lens Crafter's). Dr. Zuniga was thorough in testing my vision and I am seeing much better than I was with my previous glasses. I also like the option to skip dilation as it gives me a headache. She offered to let me try new contacts that would be more suitable for how I wear them (occasionally). I appreciated that and the 10 day trial supply seems pretty generous. My experience with the opticians at Lens Crafter's was fine. They respected my budget and helped me find frames that fit it and my style. My glasses fit well and seem durable. I expect that they will push extras to drive the cost up (I know they don't make much on frames or lenses) and so I said no. It was simple and convenient and my glasses were ready in less than a week after I ordered them (they didn't stock my lenses). read more

I have a story to tell. My eye doctor canceled my appointment, because they had too many emergencies come in to handle a quick 15 minute yep your prescription is the same. Then I made another appointment locally at another doctor. They called and said the same thing, sorry too many emergencies come in next week? Review - Optometrist So I say fine let's see if lenscrafters has an appointment they're not going to reschedule. Sure enough they could get me in at 5:40. So around 5:55 I'm struggling to find parking at Avalon on a Friday evening. I call and they offer to wait for me, which was awesome. I get there shortly after that and they had my insurance info already, paperwork done, and was in and out within 15 minutes with my prescription. They snag my insurance, act super professionally, and got me one of the best deals I've had out there even though I was out of network. We got through the entire process in half an hour and I got exactly what I want. If the store and the Optometrist values their team working there now, then this should be a great place to go for eye exams and frames. I can't promise the experience I had will be as hype a year from now, but as of right now I was blown out of the water at how well they worked for me and my interests even though they're a lenscrafters. Had a fit issue with the glasses. Digging into my bony nose. Pablo fixed me up quickly and comfortably.

Long and short: Communication was awful. Price is absurd I had to return 3 times to the store to get my new glasses prescription, and it takes me 30 minutes to get there plus 10 minutes every time to park at the Avalon. Employees don't care. First time I came in, all they had "in stock" was the most expensive, most advanced glasses technology for something like 700. Well, it turns out they have to order them anyway... so why she was trying to sell me that is beyond me. It was an extra 200 dollars to get them in 2 days... no thank you! I ordered the most basic pair of lens I could find with my existing frame. The cost? $300! I was called when glasses came in, I came in to get them put in my frames, they told me "their person" wasn't in to cut them( there's no cutting to do, just fit them to the frames). "They'll be ready tomorrow." Ooooooookay. Even tho they said nothing about not being able to do it past a certain time. If that is the case, you have GOT to communicate that!!!!! So I go back home... another 30 minutes. I get a text 15 minutes after I sit down at home "Ready set get your glasses are ready" I call the store, rather irate and ask why I was sent home "oh I don't know but we're sorry" I come back to get the glasses, they don't apologize until I press them for answers. Literally my worst LensCrafters experience in the 20 years we've been using them for glasses. Stay away from this location. read more

My husband decided to try a new eye Dr so we went to LensCrafters on his last visit. He had his eye exam with Peachtree who was onsite. A few months later he felt like his prescription wasn't quite right and even though his exam was less than 3 months old, they wanted to charge him for another exam. We have had nothing but wonderful service and fitting since this location opened. Today, we were looking for glasses for my almost-DIL before a changed in insurance, and everything went incredible smoothly despite the lack of an appointment for an eye exam. This was the third or fourth pair of glasses that my family has purchased from this location, and they do a better job of helping with the correct selection of frames, and then fitting those frames than any other optometrist or ophthalmologist we have ever used. While waiting to talk to the doctor the 3 employees behind their front desk were gathered around gossiping. It was a young guy and 2 ladies. I'd like to make mention that one of the ladies was NOT the young girl that was in all black clothing. She was busy helping people. The young guy continually spoke about a past employee and what I think is a current employee. Stating the latter was mean and when he saw her with family, he was shocked she acted human. Then when he spoke about the former employee (who just had a baby) he continued to state things he felt wrong about her. Including how she made a "racist" comment when she spoke about her own Afro. I'm sorry, but you gossiping about staff and former staff at your place of employment IN FRONT of customers is no better. You have no idea who I am - you don't know if I'm friends with or a family member of the person you just chose to gossip about in front of your customers. Learn some professionalism. read more

I went to Sunglass Hut to try to get a stripped screw out of my Ray van aviators and they couldn't do it so they sent me over here. The staff were all so friendly and they not only removed but also replaced my stripped screw, and then did me the favor of switching out the lenses of my two Ray Ban aviators for me. Had to walk out of this LensCrafters after a rude employee approached me and my mom while browsing for eyeglasses. No one was in the store except us for the majority of the visit until one mother and son came in and we weren't even near them the whole time. They have a ridiculous mask requirement policy but how are you supposed to try on glasses when you can't see your face? So we kept pulling down our masks every time we put on a pair. Finally to the point where we just weren't even wearing it because we weren't near anyone and having to pull up and down a mask that much is just spreading more germs around. An employee approached us with an attitude and asked us if we had masks so we put our back on and then I see her talking about us from across the store so I decided to leave. I told her they were losing business and we walked out. Will never go here again. I will fully support any patriotic business and this is not one of them. read more

I'm still pretty upset with my last experience at the Avalon location. New manager there horrible. HORRIBLE. Been wearing glasses all my life and using Precision Lens Crafters as long as they have been in business. Yes I said Precision Lens Crafters like I said all my life and that's been awhile. ALWAYS pay for the extra deal for new lenses within the year if scratched etc. I am a nurse that needs to see very clearly so when I went into the Avalon location to order replacement lenses the manager said I didn't pay the extra coverage and it would be $500! She explained the past employees were gone, didn't do their jobs correctly, and I did not have the extra coverage. My husband has also been a big customer but no more. He is shopping elsewhere and I have an appointment for LASIK. Lens Crafters lost serious $ losing us. Serious money. Every year ordering up to 6 pairs for my husband and I. My prescription Tiffany sunglasses, Tory Burch and Prada every-days just this year will be put into the glass jar at Joffee. For the $30 dollars over the extra coverage it sure cost them $3,000 a year easy. Honestly had the new manager charged me the $30 after dealing with her I still would not have stayed. I went in there to check it out because we just moved here and I went to Avalon to buy a gift. They treated me like I had the plague. The girl didn't even want to put my info into her iPad!!
