Just moved into the area and needed some more paint, which I had already purchase in another Ace location in Arlington Heights. My trip to this Ace was very different from the one in Arlington heights. The men who was working the paint department was extremely helpful. He explained to me all there is to know about paint, and even made some recommendations which have been very helpful. He also introduced me to Wooster products to paint with and OMG it sure made a difference. The people here were friendly and I will definitely keep coming back for all my new home projects! read more

Hands down, the worst experience I have ever had in my life. I dropped off a Craftsman lawn mower for a tune-up and blade sharpening on 4/28 and was told it would be roughly 2-3 weeks. 3 weeks came by and no phone call so on 5/22 I called and was told by Brian that the part they had been waiting for had not come in however it should arrive early next week. No phone call (again) from Ace the following week so I called and spoke with Rick (store manager) and he claimed he would look into it. He said a cable had been ordered and their supplier kept sending them the wrong one. He suggested I call back the following Monday (I did) and I was told it had not come in. I then told them to just make sure the lawn mower ran and when the cable came in, to call me and I would pick it up myself and hook it up. I received a phone call from Brian on 6/03 saying my lawn mower was ready to be picked up. So I show up on Saturday (6/06), pick it up, bring it home and lo and behold, it does not start - the cable which was on order was a key part for starting the engine! So NOTHING had been done to it - no tune up, no blade sharpening, NOTHING! So Len's Ace Hardware had my lawn mower for 38 days and did absolutely nothing to it other than remove the mystery cable that was supposedly on back order. I called back and unfortunately Rick was not in and would not be available until the next day which was too bad because I wanted to share with him the wonderful experience I had. I then took the mower and dropped it off at Northwest Lawn & Power in Itasca and they had it done and delivered it to my house 3 days later - obviously they were able to solve the delay of the mystery cable in a much shorter time span. In short, all I can say is that I am in sales and if I treated my customers in this fashion, I would be out of a job. I will make it a point to promote Northwest Lawn & Power in the future and tell everyone about the wonderful experience and pack of lies I was given by the employees of Len's Ace Hardware - all I can think of is the old Ace commercial with John Madden where he says "Ace is the place for me" - he must have been senile when he said that or else he broke into a fit of laughter once the cameras stopped rolling. Len's Ace in ROSELLE is the best, I have been in Roselle for 25 years now and I consider this to be one of my regular stops, its a block from the house so I am in the "old section" when houses were built to last so now and then upgrades and repairs are needed. they usually have what I am looking for , and i'm pretty handy so ill do my own repairs if I can. So my dead bolt that I got when I moved in stopped working. it was a schlage brand I got 25 years of service out of it time to replace it right... so I went to Len's Ace in Roselle, looked at what they had replacement dead bolt double keyed 50 bucks and the helpful hardware man CHRIS H. (FIRE they call him) says I can service the cylinders for 12.50 each one. I said you can do that? CHRIS said yep i'll do it while you wait , you think anyone at lowes or home depot going to do that NOPE. He saved me $25 bucks right back in my wallet THANKS FIRE.. CHRIS H. And another repair I had to make was my MOEN faucet was leaking. also purchased when I moved in 25 years ago at Len's in Roselle so I found the cartridge I needed and wasn't sure which was leaking hot or cold so at 35.00 bucks each I did consider a whole new faucet. But the helpful hardware women ANN ,said if you go on line they will send you FREE replacement parts!! So she saved me $ 70 bucks right back in my wallet !!! THANKS ANN ( happy Tuesday... her standard greeting as you enter or leave) And finally the Lens in bloomingdale my man DAVE S. my old neighbor helped me out on a craftsman tool box for $99 bucks which I couldn't beat. This is my local hardware store and where I get all of my hardware needs for my house. There is always someone available and ready to answer your questions. I've also found that they carry items that the local big-box stores don't have...surprising! Last summer I painted my place and I bought all of my paint and brushes/rollers/etc. here. They are currently running a promo that every Saturday in March you can get a free quart of paint with a coupon (I saw some laying on a table by the paint section that you can fill out, or you can get one on facebook. Mine coupon was emailed to me since I am part of the rewards program). Speaking of rewards program, be sure to sign up. I am a senior lady who TRIES to be a handiman. I do not personally know anyone who works at this store; however, the workers there have always been wonderful. They go way beyond what would normally be expected!!! I will tell you about only two incidents although there have been others. A few years ago I was given an estimate of more than $1100 from Precision Plumbing to fix a situation I had created by trying to fix my shower. It would not turn off! I am so glad I did not have them fix it on the spot (which was so tempting). I said I would get back to them. I let the shower continue to run and went to Len's Ace Hardware to get their opinion. After listening to my problem at length, they felt that it was ONLY the faucet. They took time to explain (and even diagram) instructions on how to fix it. They also wrote down the name of an unusial piece that I needed for this and directed me to a nearby specialty store to get it. Long story short, I fixed the faucet easily and it cost me only $22 for the piece!!!!! Another time I went in to Len's Ace Hardware because during a painting project I lost a piece of a hinge from one of my cabinets. After studying an unbroken one that I also brought in, they looked the hinges up in a catalogue and found that they were no longer made. Unfortunately, today's hinges do not use the particular piece so there was no chance of taking it from another hinge. I thought I was going to have to replace all of the hinges on my cabinets if I wanted them to match. This was going to require a LOT ..... measuring, drilling all new holes, etc....to say nothing of the cost of the hardware. The man with whom I was working studied the hinge and said he could TRY to make something that would work. He said to come back in a few hours so that he could work on it between customers. When I returned, he had cut, bent, drilled, filed, etc. a rather heavy piece of metal that he had found. It was not an easy job! When I asked what I owed him he said, "Nothing. I am glad to help.. I just hope it works for you!" Unbelievable!!!!! He gave me all of his time, expertise and effort and did not charge me!!!!! I went home and the piece worked great!! I could give other examples and so could many of my friends. I do not even live in Addison but it is always worth going the extra distance. It is an outstanding store with WONERFUL people!!!!! read more

The manager is very rude, racist and offensive. I've been shopping here for a very long time and to be honest most have been very nice except for the older guys in the back behind the service counter, they wont leave that counter if there life depended on it and are very slow and unprofessional. when you ask them for help they act like you are bothering them. The younger staff is more attentive and quicker to respond but After spending so much money there I will never go back because of the insult done to me by one of the persons there. I experienced racism there for the first time in many years, I've never noticed this before my experience there but all of the staff is white except for a very few Latinos. read more

All the people who work there from Peter to Tom to Anthony to Dee and Angie and Rick, just to name a few, all extremely knowledgeable in there own perspective areas and beyond. Its awesome to walk in there and within seconds someone is there asking you what you need help with finding. I was buying Frog tape 1.41X60 YDS. Ace sells for $8.99. I showed them that the Walmart sells the same item for $7.67. I ask them to price match.They called the manager about price match . The manager sad that they don't match the price on phone . They told me that i have to show them the add. I told them not all the items which Walmart or other stores sell on ADD. Basically they did not price match if you show them the other store is selling cheaper than they are selling something. They are price always more expansive than other stores. Before they were price matching if you show them on your phone that other store is selling cheaper. Maybe they have a new manager that doesn't know that everything is operated by technology today is days. No more shop at Addison 60101 now on!!!! Grown man sold me the wrong paint, I instantly realised it, and he told me that it was what I asked for. It was not even close, he f'd up bad. I simply pointed it out, and was told it was what I asked for, and would not remake it without charging me for both. I asked him to look me in the eyes and as a gentleman that he was not lying. He just looked at the floor and denied it as he started shaking and getting fluttered in his voice. I then was able to find and explain to the owner what happend. "what do you want, some kinda problem?" in a sarcastic voice and grin on his face. He defended the employee, saying " He's been here for years, you think you're so smart, why dont you fill out an application for me to throw in the trash.". Im a patient and calm guy, but I left shaking with anger. Please, please..there are other close Ace's or hardware close by. Dont give this piece of work a dollar. Oh, and the girl at the register said he is creepy and only hires young highschool girls for front store. read more

I rarely write reviews, but when someone goes beyond my expectations, it needs to be said. So, here it is. My mother and I went into Len's to purchase a new Toro lawnmower. The associates put the new lawnmower together for us, filled it with gas and showed us how it worked. (Our previous Toro was a little different as it was 18 years old or so.) Not even a week later I cut the grass in the back yard. So as to not run out of gas while I cut the front lawn, I then filled the tank (which still had some gas in it). Well, after I shut the lawnmower off to put the gas in it, it wouldn't start again. I called Len's and they said to bring it in. When I told then I couldn't lift it by myself into my truck, they sent a guy out to pick it up. They said they'd look at it and it would be a few days. I explained that wouldn't work for me because I was going out of town in 2 days for 2 weeks and needed to get the grass cut. Long story short, they got it fixed THAT DAY and brought it back to me! It turned out that the gas I put in was old (however, it worked in our snow blower this past winter and it wasn't new then either). In any case, they cleaned out the carb and put fresh gas in it once again and the lawnmower has been great since. I can't say enough about the lever of customer satisfaction and service I received at Len's Ace! THANKS, LEN AND CREW FOR CARING SO MUCH ABOUT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION!! read more
