We found ourselves in that vague space between "not really being hungry" and "knowing it would be…read morehours before we had a chance to eat again," so we decided to grab a quick burger before our evening event. We'd seen a sign at our hotel for Back Door Burger (BDB) and thought we'd give it a shot. BDB runs out of a small room on the back side of a lovely restaurant called Merrill's on the Waterfront. We discerned pretty quickly that BDB also shared their kitchen. Finding our way around the building was a bit more challenging than I expected. There was little signage and NO discernible entrance until you got completely around the building to the rear, but our persistence paid off and we finally found it. On entry we were surprised to see not a single person in the dining room. In fact, the young lady at the counter seemed surprised when we said we were going to dine in. (I suspect most of their business runs through DoorDash or Uber Eats as there were a couple of to go pick ups while we were there.) We each ordered a Build Your Own Burger and an order of onion rings to share. The food arrived quickly, and looked beautiful, but in the end, my patty, which was ordered medium, arrived well done, and the egg I ordered ended up on my wife's burger, which was ordered well done and served that way. The components were all high in quality; the beef fresh, the veggies crisp, etc. Food quality=WIN. Order accuracy= LOSE. When not taking our order, the employee was zoned in on the television across the room, which was set to The SpongeBob Movie with the audio coming through the ceiling speakers throughout the room. She responded attentively each time we asked a question, but otherwise wasn't engaging. Then again, there wasn't really much for her to do, so I can see her developing a TV habit during work hours. I wanted to love this place-- really, I did, but the pros were outweighed by the cons, resulting in my three-star rating, which was based solely on the quality of the food items themselves. One final thing: When the SpongeBob Movie ended we were treated to the first 10-15 minutes of the Dora the Explorer Movie.

First time ordering from them, figured we'd try them out. Well, it was good & bad. First we'll…read morecover the bad stuff : Small menu, not much to pick from. But then again it's supposed to mainly be "burgers" so I can't complain too much about that, I guess. But we was also told that our food would be ready in 20 minutes. We waited at least 45 minutes! (Not good.) At no time did the girl at the counter apologize or keep us updated on our order, just left us sitting there. And all we seen was "young kids" running it. At one time a young guy came in, I think he was a waiter working the outdoor seating for the other side of the restaurant, I guess it was the "Merrill on the Waterfront" side ... I'm guessing that Back Door Burgers and Merrills on the Waterfront at joined together ... anyway, he came inside twice being all loud and one time literally threw an almost full water bottle on the counter, which then fell over on the floor. Very unprofessional. Well, so at almost an hour later our take-out food was ready, we pay for it (which I found it quite expensive). We got 2 burgers, a side of chicken wings, and a side of mozzarella sticks ... our bill was $46.00! We go home, open everything up and both burgers seemed a bit over cooked. The toasted buns was a little dark and the burgers could've been cooked a few minutes less too. I didn't think of it till hubby said it to me, but they never asked how we wanted them cooked (rare, medium rare, well done, etc.). From what it looked like we both got well done. Pretty much the only thing I was impressed with was the packaging. The boxes that the food was in was better than just styrofoam containers. Kinda sad when the only real good thing is the packaging the food came in. Wasn't the worst food we ever had but I will say that we will probably not order from them again.
