My mom made me drive her at the crack of dawn to Lenchitas. I noticed the parking lot was quite full, but I managed to find a parking space at the very end. Mom asked ME to get off and get her 4lbs of masa. As I made my way towards the entrance I noticed that the line was out the door...oh hell no! I walked right back to my car and fled the oh so bumpy parking lot. Mom asked what happened and I told her I was NOT waiting in line with strangers. At around 1 pm my mom asked me to try again, so I did... again the line was long, but not as long. I waited in line for like 20 minutes watching the waitresses with their big hair in nets, lots of make-up (more than me) and mini black skirts go by taking dishes and orders to tables. Now I know what all the fuss is about... the paisas getting their taco de ojo! Doñas don't mess around here, they have torteadoras making the tortillas, with NOOOO tortilla press.. they round those babies up by hand! WTF? Good menudo is hard to find. I've been from San Diego, ELA, San Francisco, Sacramento and even Napa in search of really good menudo. Lenchita's has good menudo. Tortillas are really good. If you use pepper then I'd suggest you take your own. They serve other dishes in cafeteria style trays which includes beans, rice and tortillas. The prices are very cheap with underdressed waitresses that wear lots of make up. They are fun and polite. This place gets crowded and sometimes parking is hard to find. Ay Caramba Lenchitas has been open for more than 20 years, it is a very small place. but the food is amazing, It's really cheap AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD-if you want something new and different, you must eat there! My father took me here for the first time to have breakfast and order some tamales for Christmas dinner, and I love Mexican food and there food took me back it tasted almost as good as my grandma's cooking. Just to worn you they speak mainly Spanish and for me being a Mexican that doesn't speak Spanish but can understand very little, let's just say thank God my dad speaks Spanish. A few friends recommended this place, so I went and ordered what my friends recommended, only to find out that they only accept cash. Luckily there was a gas station across the street and they had an ATM. I ordered the #2, #6 and #9 - I forgot the names. I brought it home for the family taste test. They all gave a 4 stars. Owners should consider adding someone to aser you or more waitresses but yet again what great place doesn't have a waiting list when it's this good. Lenchitas is good on the wallet, decent portions and good tortillas(as long as they're warm). To those without a true Mexican tongue, that is, if your mom or abuelita wasn't around to cook real food, you're going to think this place is the best. If you're hungry then the food is OK, not great. It's fair for the price. Not much flavor to it, but then again, it's mostly Norteño style food, so it naturally lacks taste. I will admit the Caldos are pretty good, for the most part. Now for the real reason I'm writing this. The service SUCKS!! The only reason this place still exists, is because it's been around so long and it feels like a comforting family tradition that most folks even go there. If you're not personal buds with one of the ill dressed, over made-up, impatient waitresses, you'll be lucky to be paid any attention within the first 30 minutes of your visit. I have lived in Pacoima(just about my whole life), and we have driven by Lenchita's and always thought that we should try it. We were doing our taxes nearby and knew their was going to be a wait, so we decided it was time to try. We made the mistake and went into the go line. No signage or directions anywhere. The lady taking our order was courteous and informative. We waited about 30 minutes for two taco combo and a burrito. We finally had to inquire about our food and after five minutes we found out the ticket was lost. Experience in dining or ease of getting food is a big deal to me. And this experience could not get much worst. My burrito was ok.. tortilla was the best part. My wife really liked the tacos dorados but complained about the rice. The tacos were good and that's why we give two stars. Would not go out of the way to visit but understand if people have been going there since they were kid that it would have a special place to them. read more

If you come here you're basically eating hand made tortillas. Their huge and thick. The service is awful, there was no variety of meats. It was literally asada (which is dry AF) and chicken that taste like supermarket rotisserie chicken. Ive enjoyed Lenchitas food in the past but when I tried calling in an order of menudo today I spent the better part of an hour trying to reach someone at the restaurant. Driven by this place a few times living in the area. On the weekends, there is always a line! There is ample parking in their lot. Open 7am-7pm during Covid times... We ordered albondigas, carne asada taco and sope, and chile con carne plate. The albondigas was the best I've had other than homemade. The asada is so-so but the fresh tortilla makes it. The accoutrements were fresh and needed since the taco is just meat and tortilla. The sope was tasty and not greasy. And the chile con carne plate will be ordered again! Overall, this place is a great find for good authentic Mexican food. Only downside is you have to have cash, thus a 4/5 stars! The gas station across the station allows for $20 cashback. If you are in Paicoma, this spot is worth a stop. The burritos are really good and cheap. They are a little smaller than your run-of-the-mill burrito, which I prefer because I am going to eat the whole thing regardless of its size. It appears all the tortillas are being made on site by a crew of multiple people. We also had some tamales which were pretty good. The service was super friendly despite us being there during the lunch rush. The hot sauce was very good, and presumably homemade. The "pico de gallo" was also very good. Lenchita's is a place my uncle use to bring me when I was little. I remember the authenticity of biting into real Mexico meal. Their handmade tortillas are thick and warm. The service takes your order quickly and are attentive to your needs, however, they heat up your tortillas so may have to step away for a minute or two but that is why they are so warm. I have gone on a busy day so service may take longer than expected. Their biria, posole, carne asada, costillas, tacos, and quesadillas are very good. Overall, my experiences as an adult are similar when I was younger. If you are craving homemade Mexican food this is where to go. read more
