The pizza is sold at the Tahlequah Drug Co. because it is "Dope!"
Included with this review is a picture of the best pizza in Tahlequah, maybe even northeastern Oklahoma. My wife picked it, The Meathead. An amazing 14" pie loaded with Italian meaty goodness: meatballs, sausage, prosciutto, pepperoni and salami, beautifully arranged on a layer of marinara sauce and mozzarella. But wait there is more. Look closely at the picture, fresh basil. The crust, a work of artistic perfection. Thin crisp immaculate. This is a pizza made with pride. Just when we thought it couldn't get any tastier the owner brought out a small cup of his mild Calabrian pepper chili sauce. Ask for it. A must. Use it to dip or spread on the pizza.
So, the ambiance is a little different. Kind of like an old timey drug store diner feel. Great service. Super friendly owner. More than pizza. Pictures of the big Italian menu are with this review. The Menu is also on line.
The restaurant is easy to find. Don't look for Lena's Italian Kitchen, look for the Tahlequah Drug Co. red brick building on the south of Hwy 62, right next to the McDonald's. Park, go in, you are there.
We used to eat pizza at the joint downtown. But, No More. You know the one; its name rhymes with salmonella. read more
