I had to call twice to even get the first appointment. They then bumped us to the next day due to emergencies. Fair enough, I understand things happen and we simply needed our gas stove uninstalled to get our floors done. We get rescheduled for first thing the next day, supposed to be for sometime around 9am. Well come noon the next day I had to call them to find out where the plumber was. They apologized, and said they were immediately sending someone. That person arrived at 2pm. Our plumber couldn't have been more unfriendly if he tried. Now we only needed our stove unhooked from the gas line. It took this plumber ten minutes. We were charged $232 for this. Being in a jam of needing the stove unhooked so the work could continue we paid. The only thing good I can say is as soon as we called they said the technician will come back out at no extra charge to us to reinstall the stove. Once again we had an appointment for a plumber to show up between noon and 4pm. Once again I had to call and ask what happened to find out we were bumped again. So now we have to wait yet another day without a stove. I will not be using their services ever again after this is completed. Very poor to reschedule someone without them knowing, and then to charge an outrageous amount. I normally always only write positive reviews but I'd like to save at least one person the same financial and physical headaches. read more

Awful service. I scheduled on Friday for an appointment on Tuesday to fix my sump pump. On Tuesday I received a call that the plumber couldn't make it so I rescheduled for Wednesday. On Wednesday an hour and a half into my appointment window I get a call that they don't have a tech in the area that can do sump pumps. A: The point of scheduling is to make sure somebody is available to do the work. B: You're plumbers, it's a sump pump. Should be standard, I'm not asking for pipes to be run. Call to service a leaking drain a few weeks ago. Was charge $400 for what turns out to be a chicken bone removal but the larger issue was that the pipe continued leaking and despite me reaching out to Len the plumber to get additional service they refused to send someone else without an additional charge, and they refused to fix their work or offer a discount. management was unresponsive. We have since gone with another plumbing company, Michael and sons and more charged far less. read more

Wow. Was looking for a local plumber. I Like their commercials. But, They must be a franchise. They serve a large area. Called for a year old toilet that pops when you sit. Left bolt will not tighten. They took toilet off and found a bad flange. $49 to diagnose. To replace flange and reset toilet was $850 quote!!!! Ridiculous. A year ago, the new Koehler toilet and install was only $650 to begin with. I think they saw my bigger house and tacked on $500. Called my old plumber to fix. Quote was $360. I am so disappointed in Len the plumber. I called on Wednesday and was given a 2-5pm appointment. No one ever showed up and when I called at 5 pm, no one had been assigned to my call. By then, no other plumbers were open/had techs to send out because it was after business hours. The earliest someone from Len could come out was the next day, so I had to take another day off work. The plumber did show up and fixed the problem with my water heater. The dispatch woman, Michelle, was lovely. However, yesterday, the same issue with my water heater began again. I called and got an 8-11 am appointment window. It's 10:30 so I call and yet again, no one has been assigned to my call. I am frustrated and very unhappy. I would not recommend Len the Plumber to anyone simply because they don't show up when they say they will. read more

Had a leaking hot water heater replace a few months ago only to find the new one is leaking with hanging wires. I called to report it and schedule an appt only to hear from the employee "how did that happen"? Seriously? I scheduled the appt for between 8-9am, when nobody showed up I called them to hear "you canceled your appt last night"? Seriously? Why would I do that if I still have a leak from nobody coming?? After 5 calls to them I was told that I cant speak to a manager and someone will call me back? Either this is poor training or the wrong people hired, either way its broken. The technician was great as far as timeliness, appearance, and was very polite and well-spoken. My issue was not with the technician, but is with the business's job pricing practice. We experienced a broken sewer pipe in our basement, and when the technician went to look at the job, he also informed me that the drain pipe from the bathroom sink would need to be replaced, because of the type of metal, which would mean ripping out tile that's not even two years old. said he needed to speak with his manager first, to come back to me with "options." When the technician returned from his truck, he gave me three price points of $5,900, to just replace the sewer pipe and tie all lines back in, $6,900 to replace the sewer line and replace half of the feed lines, and $10,900 to replace every line. We only needed the sewer pipe fixed or replaced. The remaining lines are actually in good condition. I thanked the technician for his time, and said we'd like to get a second opinion, because it's a lot of money and we need to do our due diligence. The technician looked at me, and said, "Tell me what you want. Talk to me." So I told him, we were anticipating paying $2,000, at the most, to which he then said he'd go back out to his truck and see if he could get his manager to come down in price. At this point, I wasn't sure if I was getting plumbing work done, or buying a car. When the technician returned, he related that his manager had dropped each price by $2,000. The technician continued to pressure us into taking the new deal; if we wanted a second opinion and later decided to go with Len the Plumber, the reduced rate would not be offered. We wound up calling another plumber who came by, looked at the problem, verified that the only piping that needed replacing was in fact the sewer pipe, which he temporarily patched, and will be back out to replace JUST the sewer pipe for a fraction of Len the Plumber's lowest reduced price. Not to say I wouldn't recommend this company, but homeowners really need to be aware and don't be pressured into anything you don't feel right about. read more

To follow up, I was contacted late the same day by a dispatcher who arranged to have a different plumber come to my home to fix the problem. She made sure if I would be comfortable seeing the same plumber in my home again or not. I said no to sending the same plumber. To their credit, they sent someone the next day who was very professional. He stated that his approach to doing his job it to treat every job as if it were being performed in his own home. Complete opposite of the guys that came before him who were in a hurry to collect the payment so they could leave despite my concern and dissatisfaction with the completed work. The comment was I could get it fixed for up to a year because of the warranty. After filing a scathing report to the PA Attorney General's office, two different managers representing Len the Plumber contacted me to address my concerns. The first call came from the local office that dispatched a plumber to provide my service. The second call was from an out of state regional manager who I have not yest spoken with. The local manger was very apologetic and willing to listen to every word I said about my experience. By the time he called me the installation had already been corrected, but he seemed unaware of that fact. His main concern was that there was an active unresolved complaint registered with the PA Attorney General's office which included n egativ e remarks about the safety of the work. Businesses really pay attention when a complaint comes to them through that office. I vented completely, rehashing what happened and he listened to every word without interrupting. He offered to refund of $200 for the job and asked me to recant or close out the complaint I filed with the Atty General;'s office, which I intend to do. But before I do that, I want to conduct a little more research into plumbing costs, to see if their quote was reasonable or inflated. I checked to see what average hourly rates are and the national ranges vary widely between $180 and $475 depending on the job and required certifications. Apparently not all plumbers are qualified to do the kind of flexible gas lines I had installed. So, assuming my two plumbers were providing service at the highest rates in the nation, and they worked about 2.5 hours each, I would have paid a total of $2375 for labor, and then add material to that. There were a couple of fittings and about 8 feet of flexible gas line which would have to have cost me about $625. I found a 50' length of that material for $275 with a google search, so I would estimate the material cost for my installation wqs about $60 for hose plus some fittings. I'll say the fittings were another $50, so around $110 for material. Assuming they apply a markup for material maybe it would have cost me $200. I don't know how the $3000 estimate was created but it feels like those plumbers were trained to set pricing as high as they possibly can. I feel like they size you up like a used car salesman does so they can extract as much money as possible. Their proposals should give a clear breakdown for labor and material, but they don't. Customers need to be prepared to demand that information up front because we can't expect to be treted with honesty or integrity. It's a gouge game where they seek to extract as much profit as they can. Nothing fair or honest about it. I appreciate they followed up but I don't think a $200 refund brings the price into a fair range at all. I think getting the total bill down to the highest national average range for the labor would have my bill at $2500 and according to my research, that rate would represent the highest rate in the nation for any plumbing services. Most of the time when people call a plumber, they need help inmmediately which puts customers at a huge disadvantage and the plumbing industry has siezed on that fact to gouge people. Do not use this company they are complete hacks! They completed a plumbing overhaul at my mothers home in late summer. They had to come back in January because the original work was not done properly and not properly insulated resulting in frozen pipes. They gave my mother quite the run around and failed to show up for two scheduled appointments. Then after the work was completed they failed to switch the hot water heater back on resulting in no hot water for two days. They definitely take advantage of seniors so find yourself a more reliable service with more integrity than Len the plumber. read more

I woke up to a leaking hot water heater and a mess in the basement. In the past I have professionally installed water heaters, so I started to find one and see who could help me change it. A neighbor said they had used Len's and were very happy with the service. So I called, they dispatched Leo Martelli. He called and told me he was on his way and arrived when he said he would. He provided and estimate, which was fair and proceeded to go and get what he needed to do the job. Leo and his brother came back and got started. They used non slip mats on my hardwood floors and within a couple of hours had my old heater out and my new heater in. Like I said, I used to do this professionally, these guys were super professional. The work was very well done, the piping and valves were plumb and level and the work was clean. The cleaned up and the only trace was that I had a new heater where the old one had been. I would recommend Len's to anyone, they are great. But I would really like to say that Leo and Sal (?) were some of the best contractors I have ever had do work for me. read more

We had Len the plumber come out to our house to fix a leaky shut off valve which was up against the block wall and the public water had to be shut off. My son lives there but it's my rental house. I told my son to have them replace the seals inside the valve, not replace the whole valve. Len told him that the whole valve needs to be replaced (which is BS) and another shut off should be installed. He tried calling but couldn't get ahold of me so he ok'ed the job. Len was there 5 hours for 2 shut offs and 6 feet of copper pipe??? And over $2,000.00 WTF, What a scam 5 hours which should have been under a hour, would have been under 15 minutes if len repaired the original valve. DO NOT USE LEN THE PLUMBER. We called to get a quote and the appointment was set. Upon arrival, the tech was concerned about his shoes, so he put on his shoe covers and went to look at our still functioning water heater on it's 17th year. I also showed him a pipe leak needing repair. He went to his truck and when he returned the price of the replacement Bradford White 50 gallon water heater was only $1500, we told him great and he had one on his truck. The entire work was completed in about 2 hours or so. Great work at a great price and value. I wish they also offered HVAC services but alas they do not. read more

He was unable to do the work in the time I needed so I called Len the Plumber, Jason came out and gave me an estimate 5x's that of the original plumber, When i questioned this his response was, " Well that's MY price, you should have hired the other guy". Shower handle needed replacement because delta handle would not turn off dripping shower head. This was a total disaster with Len the plumber and Cyrus Prince the technician. He broke the Delta shower handle and then said he had a Moen replacement shower handle on the truck. So the bill went from $300 to $1200 but he was able to give a "discount" so the bill was now $900. I went back to my office to let him do the work and when I came out to check he had cut a nine inch square hole in the plasterboard from the bedroom side of the wall. I was shocked that he dis that without asking or confirming that it was ok to cut a hole in the wall, he didn't ask or confirm this. So I called Len the Plumber four times to complain about the work and they never called be back. I will have to contest the charge on my credit card as he actually did more damage than the work to fix the shower handle. What a nightmare!!! read more

When they got here, it turned out it was to be a $289.00 charge to show up and provide diagnosis. The tech said he would talk to his supervisor about the charge. Went out to his truck and LEFT. They are so rude and also do terrible work. Unfortunatly I had them fix some toilets on a house I moved into and they botched it up and used bad parts. They charged an outrageous rate and two toilets broke a month later and we ended up having to shut the water off to the entire house to stop the issue while we waited for them. I had to call them back bc it was supposed to be under warranty. They got annoyed that I called too many times and blocked my call while knowing me and my family had not water. Beware!!! This company charges $45. for a service call even if no work was performed! The service person wrote up a $800 estimate for a leaking outside faucet! Instead of finding a less expense way to fix the problem, he went straight to the worst case scenario to replace the entire pipe and faucet! I know something wasn't right when he asked me how much I was expecting to pay after I refused to get the work done. Today, another company came out and charged me only $20. bucks, because all that was needed was a little tighten. In less that a min, the job was completed. Do not recommend. Had a leak from my wall in my utility closet. They told me they needed to open a hole in the wall and it would cost 300 dollars as a diagnostic fee. They put big holes in the wall, broke my access panel to my tub, heard them laughing about it. Eventually determined it was the hot water heater. Told me they would waive the fee if I let them install a new water heater. Consulted another plumber who told me they overcharged me on the "diagnostic fee" and the hot water heater. Cancelled the install and went with the other plumber. Next day Len company sent an invoice for 300 dollars. Did hundreds of dollars worth of damage in my house and then charged me for it? I had 1/2 " piece of pipe that had a drip. They came out and first hung around truck for 10 minutes. Then another truck comes and another 10 minutes of them outside. Come in, look at tiny piece of pipe and then has to go back to truck to give estimate. They come back with 3 numbers in a copy book. So professional. Not. Give me 3 outrageous estimates. One for almost $900 for a job that would take 20 minutes. Then trying to upsell me by giving estimate on replacing all copper piping for over $4,000. Nothing wrong with the pipes. Paid the service call and all but threw them out. It's a total scam. They make $50 for NOTHING. Multiply that by number of people who call ....well, you do the math. Had they told me that this was their pricing when I booked the service, I would never have set up the appointment. Just had Len the Plumber out to give price on new sump pump. Wanted a certain brand and when googled, they came up as certified for that brand. Customer service called and said, they will be at our home between 10am-12pm. Around 11:30, they called again and said, they would be out by 1230. He finally got here at 1pm. He gave us a ridiculous price of over $750! When I questioned him, I asked about specific brand which they don't carry. I also questioned the estimate. I told him no way and I would not pay for the $49 visit because of the arrival change plus still being late. There was no issue. He left. I called another plumber used in the neighborhood, and for the exact same pump "Len" was going to install, Palmerio's price was $380! Told him exactly what we wanted. He went out in the truck to give us a quote. All we needed was to turn a gas valve off behind the stove and cap it. That was it. Simple, simple. Pros: My technician (Jay Hills) was prompt (once my initial appointment was rescheduled), helpful, and professional. The service side was very good. Cons: My initial appointment was rescheduled at the last minute leaving me with no water for an additional day and causing me to waste time waiting for them. I was charged $250 for a 15 minute job (cutting a thin copper water line and putting a new fitting on it for my refrigerator). I was later told by other plumbers this should have not cost more than $100 max. I even had my own stainless steel line so the only "parts" were the small fixture. For smaller jobs I would not recommend this company as they significantly overcharged me. read more

I recently had Len the Plumber come out to assess a leak in a pipe connected to our well water pump. The two guys they sent told me they would run some diagnostics then give me some options. I also mentioned we were having issues with our hot water staying hot for more than 5 minutes, so I asked them to take a look at our hot water heater too. That is literally all they did... They looked at it. They didn't attempt to assess what was wrong with it. We sat down to talk cost and even though we called them out for a leaky pipe they told my husband and I we needed to replace our well cap, our water pump and tank, and our water heater. They said it would cost $6000. Why does our tank need to be replaced when it's 4 years old and works fine? Why does our water heater need to be replaced when it's 6 years old and only needs a new heating element? Why does our pump need to be replaced when it works fine? When we asked what it would cost to just fix the issue we called about, they quoted us $1200. (!!!) I told them we couldn't afford that, so they instantly dropped the quote to $750. I told them that seemed awfully high to fix a leaky pipe and they assured us no other plumber would give us a lower quote. We decided to take our chances and not to go with Len because the quotes seemed really high to us. That night we called in a favor to a friend who ended up fixing the leaky pipe in 45 minutes using $106 in parts from Home Depot. That's a difference of about $1100 from Len's quote which means they were charging $1100 in labor for 45 minutes of work. Insane! As for the water heater they suggested we replace, we had another company come out and charge us $195 (labor and parts) to replace it's broken heating element. They even showed us how to replace the element ourselves if it ever breaks again. Len doesn't seem interested in service. They unfortunately seem interested in sales and overcharging the customer. read more

Had a boiler pipe leak in January, no heat since we had to turn water off. Len wanted to charge me 700.00 to repair pipe. Called their manager and they said the mechanic negotiates prices. We had him install a couple of other valves before we would pay new price of 550.00. RUN FAR DO NOT CALL THEM. Horizon is better. read more

Had problem with bathroom sink draining into the tub. Toilet flushed fine. The tech informed me there was a $500 charge to use the big snake for main drain and would have to remove the toilet to use the big snake. Toilet removal / replacement was $250. He snaked the main drain, it was open. Then used a smaller snake and it clearedto the blockage between the sink and tub. He should have started there and there was no reason to snake the main drain but he did so they could get maximum billing. Even I knew the problem was not in the main. Had he snaked the obvious drain first it would have saved me hundreds of dollars and he would have been out the door in 30 mins. I am writing to the company and asking for a partial refund. An experienced plumber would have know to snake the small drain first. Cost me $650. read more

in 2017 Len the Plumber came out to fix a few things and they convinced me to replace my water pressure valve, charged me $400. Just the other day, I called them because I kept hearing a humming sound and guess what? It was my water pressure valve of only one year that was causing the issue! So they replace that and than charged me $500!! After calling and talking to the manager, they were willing to refund me $50 since I was a repeat customer. Water pressure valves should only be replaced 3 to 5 years if that. They really should last over 10+ years. I am so disappointed that they would not stand by their work. I was informed that both the part and service only had a one year warranty...even if they screwed up the installation! So so disappointed!! Do NOT use Len the Plumber, otherwise you may end up paying for the service........ twice!! read more
