This place caters to non-Asians. I had a good time but it is super unauthentic. Any place where you have to ask for chopsticks and has a long wine list is a huge tell! Pros: -ambiance was nice -portions were reasonable -server was friendly -wait time for food was reasonable -I liked that water and to-go containers were brought out to us without having to be asked for. That kind of anticipatory service is appreciated! -plenty of parking and a nice hike nearby -the house red chili oil was great! Cons: -prices were higher for non-authentic dishes -veggies were giant, chunky, not cut and very typical of non-Asian palates e.g. broccoli, cauliflower, white button mushroom, carrots instead of shitake/enoki mushroom, bean sprouts, wood ear, water chestnut, etc. -sauces all contain lots of corn starch and sugar (very typical of most take-out places) -chicken they used is breast meat only, very dry, overcooked and in giant chunks -the mango sticky rice dessert had undercooked, hard pieces of rice that were not cooked properly! The sticky rice is supposed to be melt in your mouth, not hard to chew and digest!

Amazing food, specially in this area. Didn't expect to find something this good. The service was excellent and place was super clean as well. Plenty of seating, perfect for a chill date, family/friends gathering. I did get vegetable pad Thai, which had cauliflower and broccoli which was a little unsusual.

Yum! I ordered take out and it was prepped and delivered pretty quickly. I was also able to call n and get my Drunken Noodles (Spicy) made extra spicy. Everything was tasty! The amount of noodles was crazy. But I love having left overs. Worth the price for the portion served. I will def be coming back!

My wife and I love this place so much that it's become our favorite stop for Asian food! We've enjoyed the service and ambience, but the food is absolutely delicious! Our favorite dishes are the Drunken Noodles and the Panang Curry. I would highly recommend the Thai Dumplings for an appetizer--their homemade sesame garlic soy sauce has a bit of sweetness to it and is a perfect compliment. The service we've received has been excellent--always friendly and attentive. Additionally, we've found the restaurant to be clean and different from many other Asian establishments we've visited. It has a more modern feel; typical kitsch and color schemes won't be found here. So easy to enjoy a good meal here!

My boyfriend spotted this restaurant, and we decided to give it a try. We made reservations, and when we arrived the place was full, and when we mentioned our reservations, they got a little panicked look on their face. Luckily, a table was getting ready to leave, so we only had to wait five minutes or so. The staff was super friendly, and there are lots of options on the menu. I got an appetizer called Blanket Shrimp, which I've never seen before, but it sounded good and I wanted to give it a try. It was delicious! To me, it was like crab Rangoon, except with shrimp. I love Pad Thai, which I always order without a protein. When I said I didn't want protein, again, the panicked look. She asked me if I wanted it served vegetarian, I said, no, just prepare the Pad Thai without a protein. Still the panicked look. She offered me a list of veggies that could be added, so I picked a couple so that everybody could be happy. After she left the table, I realized that she hadn't asked any of us how spicy we wanted our meal. The Thai restaurant we usually frequent always offers us an option of spice level. My son pointed out that on the menu there were little spice notations next to each menu option, so it is a predetermined spice level on all the dishes. Our food arrived quickly and piping hot! The portions are large, and we all had to take home at least half of our entrée. Despite being a full restaurant, the sound level was good and permitted us to be able to have a nice conversation. We will definitely return!

The food is great and the restaurant feeling is fresh and bright. Outdoor seating available.

This spacious and quiet classic Thai restaurant satisfies my craving for summer rolls (delicate and refreshing! A perfect light lunch) and fried tofu (crispy with a pillow-y center.) My husband David was dragged kicking and screaming through the door (he's a little bit "meat and potatoes") but he loved his pad seew (wide rice noodle with vegetables and protein choice: chicken, ordered from the lunch menu.) He got the Clean Plate Award. My meal was GF (gluten-free) and Grace, our awesome server, was kind enough to check with the kitchen and discover many more GF options (fried rice!) available by request. The air quality inside is lovely-- the ceiling is high and the sound dampening masks the echoes that would be expected in a cavernous space. The booths are are cocooning as the original dining set at the Oak Park, Illinois Frank Lloyd Wright Home and studio. The overall effect is to create a quiet place appropriate for business or personal conversations over delightful food. Do not overlook the appetizer wings. They are GF and cravable in their own right. Just an hour away from them now, I already feel them whispering to me --from a thought bubble above my head that displays the location on a map with smiles rising as if they are Facebook responses on a live video stream! Food will bring one in to a try a restaurant, but service is what brings one back. Grace was our server. I want to stress that her impeccable timing and considerate service significantly contributed to the pleasantness of the meal. This one is an easy five stars.

Are the owners actually Thai? I placed an order and was a bit perplexed that a fortune cookie (Chinese custom) was included with my meal. Of all the Thai restaurants I've been to, none of them gave fortune cookies.

Meng Pung was born and raised in Battambang, Cambodia which borders Thailand, so Thai cuisine is no stranger to him.

Random day and the family wanted to try a different restaurant in the area that we hadn't tried…read morebefore. We had a yearning for some spice so we elected for Bangkok Thai. The menu is very extensive but if you have an idea of what you are looking for, it is not that intimidating. Our waiter laid out that they have five spice levels on many of their dishes. I went with the yellow curry, medium spice with chicken. Wow. The flavor is plentiful. The portion is a great size. I got two full meals out of it. My mom got Pad Thai with chicken. That's her go to. She said it's the same, but different as other Pad Thai dishes she has had elsewhere. Still enjoyed it! My dad got his usual Szechuan bowl with chicken. He enjoyed it too. It was his idea to start with house salads those were very whole and real. The peanut sauce dressing fit perfectly! I got some green tea to drink. The teapot and cup made the experience that much more inclusive. Boxing up our leftovers, I took that opportunity to ask our waiter if I could get the curry spicier next time. He turns to me and said, "Of course we can! We can make it not as spicy as you want (while squatting down) and make it as spicy as you want (while reaching up to the ceiling)". I loved the enthusiasm!! Upon leaving my mom and I inquired about gluten free desserts. The gentleman at the counter said, let me ask the kitchen for sure, and he said yes, they said the sticky rice is ready for your next time in! Amazing food. Friendly service. We will definitely be back. Do try Bangkok Thai Restaurant if you enjoy Thai food.

So my food experience was probably more of a 1 but if you get to stop by their market, I was happy with the goodies and groceries I found. Like a couple of people said, this place was haphazardly run for sure. There was only one worker for the market and the restaurant. Even though there was only 1 other table of people plus my party (4 people), it seemed to be too much to handle for the 1 worker. Service was super slow, he couldn't really answer any questions and nothing really met expectations. The menu was the worst one I had ever seen in terms of misspellings and wrong pictures and inaccuracies and I'm comparing it to other Asian menus that tend to get some typos every once in a while. This menu never had one complete line without a couple of typos...which, you know, if the description and picture were accurate enough, it still wouldn't have mattered. There were multiple pictures of their pad thai dish that looked like a thin eggy crepe on top of stir fried noodles--extremely appetizing. Server said off the bat that nope, the dish does not look like that at all. Okay...fine but then please get a different picture. I ordered the Egg Noodles soup that clearly listed: Egg noodles with scallion, carrot, cilantro, mushroom, ground chicken, ground pork and ground beef. Literally none of those items were in my dish except for a few strips of carrot. The "egg noodles" were the cheap vermicelli clear noodles, no ground beef but really stringy, tough pieces of leftover beef and only celery pieces instead of mushrooms, cilantro, scallions. It was completely different. Server offered no explanation to the differences nor a discount or anything... Someone ordered the baso (basil) fried rice and it looked amazing. The other 2 in my party ordered chicken pad thai which looked really corn starchy and pink instead of the more natural brown sauce I'm used to at better Thai restaurants. Nope, not coming back here!

Horrible experience overall…read more We went in about 2pm on a Sunday when a lot of other restaurants were closed and there were 2 other tables in there. That's it. It looked half closed inside and was a bit in disarray. We honestly should have just left. Took forever to get a drink order placed and once we did took even longer to get it. I noticed that everyone around us got everything they ordered really haphazardly. Tables got nothing together. One person would get a drink. One person would get an appetizer. Once person would get a set of utensils. Nothing was organized. Again. Should have left. We placed our orders for 2 entrees and a sushi roll to be eaten as an appetizer along with egg rolls. Quite some time later one entree came out. No utensils, no soy sauce, no eggs rolls, no sushi. Then 5 minutes later another entree. Same issue. Then 5 minutes later the eggs rolls. Still no sushi (which was asked to be an appetizer). Finally the sushi. Still no chopsticks and no soy sauce for the sushi. Husband took ONE BITE of the sushi and realized it was bad. He sent it back. I mean, it was really bad. Rancid. They said they'd remake it. We said no. It was supposed to be an appetizer anyways and we had lost all desire to eat there now and we also didn't trust their kitchen after rancid sushi, so please refund it. They agreed. They gave us the wrong check. A cheaper one for a different table. I was trying to be honest so I told them. They got mad at me. The owner started yelling at me. Literally yelling at me. What the heck?!? For being honest?!? When she finally gave me the correct receipt she refused to take off the sushi. I reminded her we sent it back because it was absolutely rancid. She started yelling louder. Screaming so loud someone who was there placing a to go order said "if you're going to treat your customers like this I'm leaving" and he left without his order. Then, this woman, the owner, has the audacity to say to me that she did not want to "serve (my) kind" (someone disabled) at her restaurant. She said disabled people were not welcome at her restaurant. (I have a service dog so it's obvious I have a disability!) I just about lost my mind when she said this. I was totally shocked by this comment. She still wanted to charge me for the rancid sushi we sent back. I refused to do so and told her that if she was going to discriminate against me I'm going to have no choice but to dispute it with my credit card because I will NOT be accused of stealing, or dine and dash, from someone who is so discriminatory, and I will NOT be charged for food that was rancid which we sent back after one bite. I stood my ground. Finally she took off the charge that she told me she'd take off always. She's a horrible business owner. She's a rude and disrespectful person and the food is disgusting. Don't go here.
