Usually I order "breakfast foods" But yesterday I ordered a "lunch" Entree. I had the lobster bisque Soup and 1/2 sandwich ( chicken salad). The soup was delicious but the chicken Salad was unremarkable...nothing But chicken pieces...no flavor, no Celery, no dried cranberries or grapes Etc usually found in delicious Chicken salad. The Lemon Tree seemed like it was the official breakfast spot of Vero Beach. It gives you that Mom and Pop atmosphere (like most places in Vero beach) along with friendly service and good quality food. My girlfriend and I went here for breakfast and ordered the cheesy grits with two poached eggs on top and a side of bacon along with an omelet and home fries. The food took a long time to get. A few people that came in after us received their food well before we did and our server didn't come around much. That was the only downfall to this visit. The grits were good and had the perfect amount of salt and butter. The eggs were poached very nicely. The omelet, which consisted of ham, bacon, and cheddar cheese was good. Tons of meat and it came out nice and warm. Like most places in the area, they only have Pepsi products. Overall it was a nice breakfast place with good price points. It was okay... The food was mediocre. I really think this restaurant could do more to make their food better/more special, but there's not a ton of competition in Vero Beach, and there was a 20 minute wait, so I guess it's going fine for them. We had French toast, grits with poached eggs, home fries, toast. The food was super fast but the potatoes and toast were already cold. The potatoes were also quite dry, over cooked / quite brown on the outside, yet a little too firm on the inside. The poached eggs -- for the first time ever, I'm pretty sure I could taste vinegar in the poached eggs (which is used to make poaching easier). The French toast was very minimal in presentation. Came here on a weekday morning and had the best breakfast of my life. Granted I don't have breakfast very often and I have a terrible memory. I had some kind of egg & grits combo. They were just testing out this new gruyere cheese grits recipe. It was delicious. I must try to make this on my own. They gave my table a pot of coffee to keep the cups nice and full early in the morning. I appreciate that. Also, I was delighted by the cute basket of mini muffins the waitress brought out (for free) towards the end. I sat there forever, sipping on my coffee and waiting for my appetite to return so I could devour the muffins. I love the location (across the street from the ocean), the prices, the food, the other diners, the staff. Five star bathrooms. This is especially important on the beach. Simply awesome. This great breaksfasty spot is filled with 60 plus year old silver haired woman chatting about what kind of "work" they had done to them. We came on a Monday morning around 9 AM, and they were packed. I can only imagine how busy they are on the weekend. We were pleasantly greeted and immediately seated as soon as we got in. Our waitress, who seemed like she has been there since they opened, was super nice and required no pad or paper to take our order. We ordered pretty standard breakfast fare (omelet, croissant and Belgium waffles). The meals came with home fries or hash browns. Also, our coffee was refilled regularly. The waitress also brought out a basket of free mini muffins for the table..great touch. As soon as she placed those down (10 minutes after we ordered), our meals were ready. Wow, that is super fast. All the dishes were huge! I have to say that the croissant and egg sandwich was the largest, so order that if you are really hungry. Food was excellent . I came in with my service dog and was harassed by Amanda. She said his vest was not red. It does not have to be red if she was familiar with service animals. She would not let me give him a little piece of bacon. Will never be back!!!! And I made sure her tip was reflected in the horrible service that she provided!!! She got zero tip which she deserved! We have gone to this restaurant on and off for the last four years. The prices pretty high for the quality of the food. The home fries burned and served cold. My first visit I had the eggs and smokey cheese grits. My poached eggs were perfect and the flavors of the smokey grits were see delicious. My son opted for pancakes which he decided to stuff with bananas and cranberries. Husband opted for the big breakfast which also includes pancakes. Pancakes were fluffy and crisp on the edges with a great flavor not even needing syrup. Corn beef hash was home made and not overly salty. Each meal was finished off with a little complementary basket of the days mini muffins, yum! Service was friendly and prompt and we were recognized as repeat customers on our second visit. They both tasted good, however my husband didn't feel right after having the Crab Benedict, we had a little concern about the freshness, hope the owner can look into it. Eh. This place is very popular and often has a wait for breakfast. I understand the appeal - - it's a great location near the beach and it has the feel of an old fashion luncheonette or diner. But honestly, my experience here is that the food isn't very good. My breakfast sandwich, the "house special" egg and croissant sandwich was really awful. The croissant was soggy and cold, and there was so much cheese, I had to remove most of It, It was disgusting. The coffee was weak. The corn beef hash was arguably the worst I've ever had, and got hit with a $4 upcharge. This place is amateur hour. And like so many other places, they don't toast the toast. They just warm up bread in the toaster. But that's just me -- I like real toast, you know--toasted. Our server / waitress was ok, but kind of formulaic -- artificial pleasantry. But everyone seems to like this place...I just don't get It. I agree with the other one- and two- star ratings. read more

Was in Vero Beach on vacation, just wondering around the downtown area, we decided to stop in and eat. There was a 25 minute wait, which took 15. It's defiantly a local place. Breakfast is served until 11, with a small limited breakfast menu and lunch after that. I and my friend had made our choices when the waiter recomended the daily special quiche ! So that's what we had! RIGHT decision! Choice of salad or fries get the house salad ! Yum yum! And after this great brunch! They brought us a little basket of warm mini muffins ! I couldn't finish my quiche, but I managed to force myself to have a muffin The service is quick the waitstaff is helpful and friendly! We had a very nice Mother's Day breakfast at The Lemon Tree this morning. Across the street from our resort, it was a short walk to breakfast. Inside, cheery decor featuring lemons (what else?) greeted us. I especially liked the terrazzo floors. While I had been planning to order a creamy, cheesy grits dish, when I saw that they had corned beef hash on the menu, I quickly changed my mind. Our server told us that the hash was made on site and since I've never tried it, I went for the order. The plate usually comes with two poached eggs, home potatoes, and toast. I try to eat gluten free when possible so I told them to hold the toast. I was also given the option of selecting sliced tomatoes instead of home fries, so I went for the healthy option. Please see picture. My husband ordered scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. We both had coffee which was very good black. Our server left a coffee pot at the table so that we could help ourselves. I also noticed that several diners had the distinctive Orchid Island orange juice containers on their tables, so the OJ is locally sourced. When our plates quickly arrived, I was happy to see that the tomato slices where large and ripe. They tasted sweet and fresh. My eggs were poached perfectly and the hash was good. They split it onto two plates without us asking, which was a nice touch. The home fries were a little greasy for my taste, but the omelette was delicious. It was fluffy, the veggies were perfectly sautéed, and it wasn't oily. The lemon blueberry pancake, however, was the star of the show: the citrus added a little oomph to the pancake. It was fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the edges. It had so much flavor it really didn't need syrup! read more
