"5 Stars says it all... Angel & Blue Pig a must."…read more We got to Lymlington in time for an evening meal and searching the high street for a suitable place and we found 'The Angel & Blue Big'. We had a quick look inside and was warmly greeted with energy by Manager. We hadn't booked and despite this he found us a very nice cosy corner. The decor is fresh, clean and depending where you want to site can be cosy and relaxing. Waitresses were very attentive, positive, and engaging. Food: we had the specials, soup of the day followed by one order for a delicious Honey Roast Ham Hock and one Roast Chicken. Both dishes were superb, and I would recommend anyone to try the Ham Hock while it's on the specials, really was lovely. Drink: we stuck with Ale and had some local Ringwood Blonde, they did have a good choice to select from. Good to see pubs/restaurants stocking local brews. 5 stars says it all for this venue, warm, welcoming, friendly and fantastic cuisine, couldn't recommend it enough. I couldn't see how a previous reviewer say this venue is more pub than restaurant... It's so not. Its a restaurant with a bar. Also someone said about it being over priced, well compared to their local Harvester is might be but to us, it perfect valve for this food and service. See my Tuesday review for over priced restaurant... The Angel & Blue Pig was half price of my previous review but had better service, atmosphere and food.

Traditional Pub with Tons of History…read more Really love this place. Quirky, eccentric, authentic. A visit to Platform is almost like a trip to a maritime museum. Not only is it the last known address of the last body pulled from the wreck of the Titanic (James McGrady), it is also where Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) won his ticket on the ill-fated voyage and is featured on the movie. Great selection of all the old pub favorites offered up by a jovial proprietor.

I entered through the rear door and it was dimly lit, with a small hallway to the main pub and a staircase to the upper level where the kitchen and toilets were located. There were two rooms of the pub, each with a bar and tables/booths. There was one bartender working, named Roo. He was so fun to talk to!! He told us about the history of the bar, the area, and gave us recommendations of places to sight-see during our brief trip to Southampton. He also had amazing beer/drink recommendations. We ended up talking to one of the regular patrons, who highly recommended the fish & chips. He was not lying, it really was *THE BEST* fish & chips I had during the entire trip. Really fresh fish and chips, really delicious!! It was the best I've had, ever I believe. The space is dimly lit, full of fun trinkets and memorabilia, and has a lot of character. I lost my mind for a moment when I found newspaper articles dated April 2012 from when the Titanic set sail and when it sank. THE newspaper articles. Adhered to the wall with scotch tape (!!). I asked Roo about the lack of preservation/security of these notable pieces of history and his response was, "nobody is going to take that, this is England!" Overall, a really fun experience and amazing fish & chips. I recommend and would 100% return if I was in Southampton again.

I got the last space, but I couldn't see if overflow parking was available. The appetisers were very good and beautifully presented. The duck that my friend had looked wonderful. Our main courses were very good. The cod was lovely and the steaks were nice. My steak was a little fatty and I found the gristle very chewy on the end piece. I also like my triple cooked chips a little more crispy, but that's just my taste. The desserts were lovely and again beautifully presented. The ginger cake with chocolate mousse and the ganache plate were particularly good. The table next to us has the beef wellington and I would definitely order that if I went again. It looked phenomenal! Overall a lovely experience.

This restaurant excels at everything it seems..what a delight!…read more - Beautiful indoor and outdoor seating - Perfect service, attentive but not too much - Small thoughtful extras - Excellent food - Very well priced Came in for lunch. Had the 3 course lunch menu for £38 (what a steal!). Lamb belly for starter was delicious, well seasoned and put together dish. Mains I tried the pork collar which was very good but the house made black pudding was phenomenal, best I have ever had..inventively spiced, wish I could buy a kilo to take home. Dessert was fig leaf panna cotta, light and flavoursome. Had a coffee with dessert which was also excellent. Its very clear that they try to do everything to the best standard possible. Wish I lived closer.
