This is a lovely restaurant with an amazing upstairs. The twinkle lights everywhere reminded me of a movie scene. The atmosphere is just amazing and the background music was just right. Downstairs is the bar area and the atmosphere is a bit more lively. Our server was very friendly and attentive and the food was amazing. Not too busy on a Tuesday evening.

Atmosphere is. On point!!! Drinks are perfect food is good enough. Amazing energy the service and staff Are so welcoming ... not a place for liquor pours are small but the draft beers definitely worth it. Ellana was so friendly and made us feel like we are at home.

One of the many burgers to choose from.

Service was good. Food was delicious. The environment was good for families as our kids both enjoyed their burgers too.

Sunday Roast! The best meal that I've had on this side of the pond!!! If you're ever in Southampton, The Dancing Man is an absolute MUST!!! The Staff, the food, the beer, the music!!!

Amazing place to visit when in Southampton. After a long night of flying from the U.S I was determined to make it here before some sleep and I am so glad we did. Great British style beer with an amazing view.

Delicious food made in full sight in an open kitchen. The beer was fantastic too, and the waitress made an excellent suggestion to pair with the food ordered. In the location is unbelievable with beautiful exposed architecture.

    Nice wood work.

Walked in the rain from our hotel for dinner, but they were out of food by 4:30 pm a Sunday night .

Awesome place, phenomenal service!…read more We spend a couple of days here before getting on a cruise ship, so the tavern and inn need to be reviewed separately. The tavern was a quaint English pub style place with eclectic decor and an amazing atmosphere. We had dinner there one night and breakfast there each day (since we were staying at the Inn). All of the food was outstanding but the fish and chips were the best I've ever had! The servers were friendly and knew their menu well and we enjoyed each meal. The Inn is upstairs and can be accessed via the tavern during business hours or a private outside entrance all of the time. Our room on the second floor was a beautiful corner room with a big bay window and full bathroom. We really loved staying there. Fully stocked fridge that we were free to enjoy too. The only slight downside (and it's not the White Star's fault, so no reduced score for them) is that the bar across the corner got a new sound system and plays it loud until 0200. Every. Bloody. Night. The manager said that the police were going to be checking noise levels after many complaints, so hopefully it's been resolved! But again, that's not White Star's fault and we heard that other rooms didn't have that issue. Regardless, if you're in Southampton, you need to drop in for a pint, a meal or spend the night!

The inn feels like an old ocean liner from the early 1900s without the opulence found later. Some of the rooms are named after former ocean liners, and thus named the White Star now for England's most famous line, owners of the Titanic and many others, now called Cunard. We had a delightful dinner. It has a pub atmosphere but a bit more upscale as a restaurant or tavern. To celebrate we got a bottle of the sparkling wine from Kent. It was quite good and went well with the meal I ordered a pheasant croquette on a bed of peas and Brussels sprouts. It was excellent My main was the chicken dish which was very well prepared and delicious. The sauce was good and the preparation better than expected for this type of establishment. The portions are substantial and I was quite full and unable to have a dessert. The waitstaff are cordial and really hustle when the crowd appears. A bit on the pricier end, especially with the wine selection, but the quality is good.

Not only is it the last known address of the last body pulled from the wreck of the Titanic (James McGrady), it is also where Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) won his ticket on the ill-fated voyage and is featured on the movie. I entered through the rear door and it was dimly lit, with a small hallway to the main pub and a staircase to the upper level where the kitchen and toilets were located. There were two rooms of the pub, each with a bar and tables/booths. There was one bartender working, named Roo. He was so fun to talk to!! He told us about the history of the bar, the area, and gave us recommendations of places to sight-see during our brief trip to Southampton. He also had amazing beer/drink recommendations. We ended up talking to one of the regular patrons, who highly recommended the fish & chips. He was not lying, it really was *THE BEST* fish & chips I had during the entire trip. Really fresh fish and chips, really delicious!! It was the best I've had, ever I believe. The space is dimly lit, full of fun trinkets and memorabilia, and has a lot of character. I lost my mind for a moment when I found newspaper articles dated April 2012 from when the Titanic set sail and when it sank. THE newspaper articles. Adhered to the wall with scotch tape (!!). I asked Roo about the lack of preservation/security of these notable pieces of history and his response was, "nobody is going to take that, this is England!" Overall, a really fun experience and amazing fish & chips. I recommend and would 100% return if I was in Southampton again.

It was a lovely day, so we decided to dine outdoors. They had a large drink menu full of wines, cocktails, mocktails, and smoothies. Prices seemed very reasonable. My husband ordered a pint of Peroni and I ordered an Aperol Spritz. The drinks came out quickly and since we asked for water; our server also brought us an entire pitcher of lemon water at no charge. For our lunch my husband ordered the Blue Cheese and Truffle Burger, and I ordered the BFC chicken sandwich. They were priced at £17.50-18.50 and both came with a large side of fries. The BFC sandwich consisted of super crispy fried chicken and a hash brown patty that was topped with a delicious special sauce. It was a little messy; but so worth it! I ate the whole thing! My husband said his Blue Cheese Truffle Burger was perfect, and that the portobello mushroom was delicious! We did not have a reservation; but there was no problem getting a table at about 3:00 on a Saturday. They had plenty of servers working and the service was exceptional. I would highly recommend a trip to Banana Wharf for a meal or even just drinks if you're visiting Southampton!
