Southern fried flavor since 1943! Lela’s Chicken Lu-Cher-Doe Style serves up legendary hand-battered chicken, seafood, and soulful sides straight from our family recipe. History

Established in 1943.

Our Story - A Legacy Of Love, Flavor, And Family!! Lela’s Chicken Lu-Cher-Doe Style is more than a food trailer—it’s the living heartbeat of a family legacy that began in 1943 with our beloved grandparents, Lela and Steve Millender. Back then, in a little corner of Mississippi, they opened a place the whole world still talks about: Lela’s Place. From early mornings to late nights after football games, people would line up to taste Lela’s legendary cooking. It wasn’t just food—it was soul, love, and community served hot with every plate. Folks knew that even if the doors were closed, Granny Lela would open them just for you if you were hungry. Inside the diner, music flowed from an old jukebox and the spirit of the South lived in every bite. Lela’s Place wasn’t just famous in Mississippi—it made waves far beyond. Granny Lela told us. “Never sell the recipe,” It was sacred—meant to be passed down through generations, not sold.

The area is clean and easy entrance and exists near the food truck. I was pleasantly greeted and walked through the menu. When I ordered the wings were dropped into hot oil and you could hear the amazing sizzle starting. We ordered Honey Hold and Honey Hot versions with a side of fried okra. I was handed a pager and told that when it buzzed that good food would be ready. So I got to sit in my nice, comfy, air conditioned car instead of having to stand around waiting in a group of people for the food. In today's quarantined climate that's really nice. Cash and cards are accepted as payment. The food was fantastic. My Honey Hot wings were crispy, hot and juicy. The sauce was perfectly spicy and sweet and perfectly coated the wings. The okra was quite tasty too. We'll definitely go back and get wings again. Just delicious. And nice folks too.

But today I didn't need neither. This sandwich was so tender so flavorful in that bread. OMG yeah that bread was like the best part so soft, almost melt in your mouth with the meat. Don't get me on the barbecue sauce because the barbecue sauce will have you slapin your mama. It is so good. The only thing that I would add is a little bit more spiciness to it but that's just me I like spicy but it was absolutely perfect. Me and my whole group absolutely enjoyed our sandwich and we were highly disappointed that when the parade was over they was done because we wanted some more. The service was great. They were fast and I believe that they were very clean family and African-American operated. They have been seen on the Food Network.. I was told by the owner that they smoke everything themselves and make everything themselves. We loved it. I wish they were in Atlanta. I'll leave here probably once a week.

About 10 minutes of waiting wings were right before my eyes. First things noticed upon arrival were yes wings were definitely small! The garlic parm wings had freshly minced garlic butter tossed in which gave a awesome flavor while the hot wings just tasted like typical hot wings but wernt that spicy but not bad.
