This place was...OK. I'm going to caveat this by saying that I was there pretty late (10pm) on a weeknight so maybe I was getting the B-Team in terms of food etc. Overall the decor was nice; really nice if you think that this is the host restaurant for a Sheraton. The service was a bit slow to begin with, but the waitress was pleasant enough. I started out with the arugula salad and finished off with a strip steak. The salad...oh what could have been. The arugula was absolutely incredible fresh and minimally dressed with only salt, oil and lemon juice. What should have been incredible was...errr...umm...ok I guess. They waaaaay over salted. Why ruin it like that? You can always add more! The strip steak I ordered rare with a side of haricotes vertes. This is where it gets weird. The steak I got was indeed rare (good!) but it was also really tough. The steak knife they provided was also totally useless. I ended up trying to saw my way through like of the Croods to get a manageable piece of steak. It had good flavor...but was super chewy. The green beans were OK, but a bit burned. As a result the light balsamic they put over them had and off flavor. Again, maybe I hit them on an off night...but I'm not dying to go back. --otis read more

Update Nov 2016, My original review is below. I upgraded them to 4 stars (from 3). Wine is still expensive, but at least there are a couple reasonable options now. I've also been there for a couple wine dinners and the food has been excellent. I've never had anything here that wasn't good. I especially like the pastas. Original review July 2015, Went here on short notice Saturday night. Got in without reservations no problem. This place is attached to the Sheridan Hotel. It was newly renovated and very nice inside. Service was generally good with friendly staff - no complaints. The food was very good. We had a couple appetizers and a couple entrees - all very good. With all that, you'd think it would be a no brainer to come back to Lela. That's where there's a catch. Food prices aren't low, but they are totally acceptable. The wine prices however are insanely high. So high, I started looking them up. They seemed to average about 3x retail. For restaurants, it's reasonable to expect 3x wholesale, not 3x retail. This example is consistent with the 7-8 I looked up and the many others for which I was familiar with the retail pricing: Justin Cab Paso Robles 2012 on the menu for $76 - this wine is $23-$29 retail. I routinely see this on wine lists at other nice restaurants for about $50. For us, the wine prices were just too high to make us feel good about ordering wine, and when that's the case, we'd just as soon pass. Their wine menu is on their web site. I'd recommend checking it out. As mentioned, this is attached to the Sheridan. If Lela's goal is to just service hotel patrons, they are probably ok. If they want to get good traffic from locals, I think their wine prices will be an obstacle for many potential diners. With reasonably priced wine, I would have given it 4-4.5 stars. read more

A restaurant in a hotel doesn't sound glamorous, but the atmosphere and plates served at Lela sure are doing their best to buck the trend. We ate here with a party of four and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The atmosphere in this space is refreshing, and they put a big emphasis on space. Windows are huge letting in a lot of natural light, none of the tables feel cramped, and even though the interior is large, it never felt hollow inside the restaurant. The decor looks great and the booth we sat in was very comfortable. Onto the real winner here: food. Delicious. Delightful. Daring. I first thought, OK, portions are on the small side but that is countered by how flavorful things are. When you taste the plates you will walk away satisfied. They made a drink for me with pineapple and ginger and that too was a unique flavor. Enjoyed it very much. Now onto the real surprise ... Affordable. You may think in this atmosphere with 4 people the bill would come to a hefty sum, on the contrary. Their prices are comparable to TGI Friday's and the experience is leaps and bounds better at Lela. Shockingly poor. Went there tonight. Nice folks but food was quite poor. We ordered Margherita flatbread. It was flat alright. Zero flavor. Sad tomato chunks, allegedly pecorino cheese, none present, poor mozzarella and tasteless crust. Three of use didn't bother to finish it. The fries were good. The lobster deviled were ok, but not good. The potstickers were flat out poor. The burger, ordered to replace the inedible flat bread, was no winner either. I would avoid this place. read more

Excellent food! Great service! The small plates were fantastic to share with the table. We were encouraged to get the meatball. So glad we did! It is amazing! All pasta is made in house. I had the steak salad and it was delicious! My husband had the New York strip which was good but did not come out very warm. My uncle had the pork chops but they came out well done. He still enjoyed them but unusual for a pork chop. Lastly we had two fantastic deserts. Would definitely go back for a special occasion as it is speedy. Decor is very nice :) read more

Food and menu selection was great. I also liked the service. It's four stars only because the prices are unjustifiably high. Wine list is nice, but again..., overpriced. The place is quiet. I was NOT pleased. The bread was ok and the drinks were extremely expensive! I had the Onion Bisque. It was not a bisgue! It was lumpy and did not have any onion in the soup like a Shrimp or Lobster Bisque. It would have been a good bisque if it were smooth and had small chopped carmelized onion floating in the soup. Fresh food, good service. But when we asked to sit by the window the attendant lady seemed to be unhappy and not willing to give us the seat. And we noticed later on she took a group of two to fill in that seat that we wanted. Not to mention that we are a group of three and made reservation well in advance, and the table we wanted is a four-person table. We didn't want to ruin our morning in an argument, but I just want to let whoever that are planning to go there, make sure you can tolerate such an unwillness from the attendant, or you won't be happy with your meal. read more

More, more, more! Everything I have tried here has been the best. The meatball is the most tender, flavorful I've had. The Mac and cheese is a hidden gem. Fresh pastas, crudo (raw fish) it's not the hotel restaurant you expect. Beautiful open floor plan with big windows, eating here is an escape. The wine dinner series are such a treat. Stayed at the Sheraton waiting for a flight out the next morning, so ate at Lela. Surprised by the Excellent food and service. Tomato soup w some nice chili seasoning. Had the steak bit pasta w/ Gorgonzola sauce. Great desert---- all in all a taste adventure. Highly recommend. read more

We went for brunch last Sunday after reading the reviews. We were initially impressed with the variety offered however the food did not quite deliver. The paella was...seriously lacking. There was so many things wrong with it starting with the type of rice used. The rice in the paella felt like instant rice so it had a mush texture. The seasoning was lacking and the seafood in it was dry. The hash had a crunch, in my opinion it could have been cooked a little longer. The scrambled eggs and chorizo was mediocre, the sausages dry, though the flank steak was cooked to perfection and had a pretty good seasoning to it. Food wise, the hot dishes were subpar. The only thing worthwhile is the sweets (though the Danish were dry and not flakey at all) and the orange juice. read more

Went on a rainy Monday evening with a group of work colleagues. The place is large and has an upscale feel, but you get the impression that the next renovation is a bit overdue. The service was glacially slow, impersonal and inaccurate. The food was miniscule and decorative to the point of being a cliché. Usually this can be tolerated if the food is exceptionally good, but that was not the case with Lela's fare from an understaffed kitchen. Examples: roasted Brussels sprouts (tough and underdone), king salmon (overcooked and dry), beet and arugula salad (no arugula to be found). Prices were ridiculous ($16 mediocre martinis). The manager stayed completely absent through the 2-1/2 hour ordeal despite the waiter's numerous mistakes. Steer clear. read more

First of all this place is beautiful. Very clean, Love that we can see the chefs cooking. We were greeted right away, the waiter was very nice. The restaurant is pretty empty maybe four tables. We put our order in and it's taken 45 minutes to get our food and we ordered soup, with a pork chop. They have 5 chefs and it's taking 45 minutes? When we did receive our food, mine was cold in the middle and not that great. :( I would have chosen Applebee's before this one. .... But sometimes people are off their night so I always give the benefit of the doubt. Our drinks (Jack and Coke) were 10.00 a drink. But made very well so we don't mind paying for that. read more

Went here for Mother's Day lunch and all they had was a brunch buffet, with no menu of apps or small plates. $40 buffet, that's it, which was fine for me, but my parents are older and don't each much at all, so I asked if they could share a buffet plate, they said no. As a self-proclaimed brunch enthusiast, I was excited to visit Lela based on the online reviews and photos. However, I was disappointed that my experience did not live up to my expectations. When you drive up to the restaurant, it is important to note that Lela is located inside of the Sheraton Hotel; this was not called out when I made reservations on OpenTable. However, when you pull up, there is ample parking and a dedicated entrance. When you walk in into the space, it has a simple elegance to it. But the one other thing that really surprised me was...my five person party were the only guests in the restaurant. When we sat at our table, our server remained attentive throughout the service. She shared that the Eggs Benedict was the most ordered and her favorite menu item; my two friends who ordered it commented that the taste was average. My friend who ordered the pancakes said they were middle of the road and my other friend who ordered a shrimp pasta dish said she thought her dish was average. I wanted to a menu item that was more unique, so I ordered the donut sliders. I love a sweet savory/salty dish, so I thought this would satisfy my taste buds. Though the presentation was ok, the taste was subpar. The slider was not well proportioned to the donut bun; the donut bun was far more dense than I anticipated; the flavors did not blend well together. I also ordered a side salad and I enjoyed that more even though it was just greens with dressing. Though the price was right, the taste was not. Therefore, I would not recommend this establishment for brunch. Perhaps, it is best to just visit during dinner for steak, but I will likely never discover if this is true. read more

Why is this place not more busy for brunch? Hands down this is the best brunch buffet I've visited. Huge variety with things you rarely see such as paella, big shrimp, salmon croquettes, heirloom carrots that were delicious and super tender skirt steak. They have potatoes, eggs, bacon and all the other standard stuff that also were cooked well. Enormous variety of small desserts like creme brulee, croissant, tarts, and fruits. We also had lovely cocktails and our server, Summer, was attentive and friendly. This was great food, a great value, and I'm amazed the dining room was so empty. The service was extremely slow; the waiter checked on us a half hour later after I got my food and had forgot our drinks. The pasta was terrible. Met some friends here as a new dining experience. We made reservations since it was a Saturday night but there was plenty of seating. We ordered wine which we ended up getting charged a dollar more per glass than was on the menu but it wasn't worth complaining about. Our party ordered the meatball which was pretty good size for an appetizer and was pretty tasty. The whipped potatoes were cold. The crab cake was okay but odd food in the "bed" of veggies it was on. Broccoli cheese soup was nice and hot but a bit salty for me. The ravioli dish has 5 small ravioli- costing $21. It was so ridiculous even the waitress said it was such a small portion hat she brought a free Mac and cheese - which might have been the best part of the meal. The atmosphere was very nice and we had a very nice waitress but for the cost I will go elsewhere. read more

I like this place for their pasta because they make it in-house and the texture and tastes is great. However, I would shy away from the steak though. Ordered medium rare skirt steak, first time it came out burnt/overdone so I sent it back and the manager came to apologize. Second time, the steak still came out well done instead of medium rare so I just gave up and ordered pasta instead (which I should've done in the first place since that's what they're good at). But the waitress offered no apologies nor did the manager the second time which IMO if something came out wrong twice after the customer has been waiting 45mins+ that deserves an acknowledgement of some sort...usually when restaurants mess up this badly they would offer some sort of compensation but they didn't even offer any discounts to my meal or drinks for the inconveniences...won't be going back due to lack of customer service. read more
