The classic breakfast is a staple: the pancakes were delicious, the salmon benedict had really nice flavor and the veggie omelette was cooked nicely. You can't go wrong with what you get. The first time we were seated immediately but the second time took a little longer because they are definitely limited on the seating options (but they try to make sure you aren't waiting long).

We opted for breakfast and both had a custom omelette. We actually prefer ours with no browning of the egg and even those these had that cooked hot and fast hallmark, they were delicious. The hash browns were amazing. May seem funny to get excited about browns but all too often you end up tasting the oil they were cooked in. Not here. They were buttery and potato-y. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Perfect. You have the option of toast or a pancake. I went the pancake route. Delicious. We're looking forward to stopping back in to try the chicken dumpling soup and a sandwich. Everything looked yummers.

Our waitress was attentive and patient and helped us find the right choices. We decided on an egg breakfast croissant sandwich and breakfast hash brown bowl with eggs and side of pancakes. The portions were very fair for the price and overall it was a great meal just as the snow flurries started to fall. Very energized vibe of contented conversing diners. My cup of beef mushroom soup exceeded expectations - flavorful consome packed to the gills with beef and mushrooms. No corners were cut there. Such a cute spot near downtown West Bend for brunch, lunch or coffee!…read more I loved the inviting and warm atmosphere with lots of live plants! We stopped in on a Saturday for brunch and had a wonderful experience. You order/pay at the counter and staff brings you your food/beverages. I spilt the French toast and the crab cake Benedict with my husband and both were delicious! We had bloody Mary's, which are very vegetable forward with their own pickled veggies. There was an error on my meal and the staff were super quick to correct and offer a bakery item on the house, which was so nice and refreshing to see great hospitality without prompt. We ended up ordering dessert afterwards and WOW you must get the crème brûlée with raspberry! I've never had anything like it. SO SO good! They have a variety of seating options inside and some dining tables outside as well. Note as of this post they are not open on Sundays.

We really enjoy dining at this restaurant with our family and young children. Unfortunately, during…read moreour last few visits, we've experienced a recurring issue with other guests allowing their children to watch videos or play games on devices at a very loud volume. This isn't a criticism of the children themselves, but rather a reminder that parents should be mindful of those around them. The excessive noise can be disruptive and takes away from what is otherwise a great dining experience. A little consideration and courtesy would go a long way in helping everyone enjoy their meal. My suggestion would be to sit nowhere near the counter.

Now on to the food. The menu features a fish fry on Fridays, customary in Wisconsin. Perch was offered, and I wish I'd tried it, but I got the battered cod at the recommendation of our lighthearted and smiley server. The fish itself was flakey white cod. The batter was---well, festooned with garlic, and it was that garlic powder that I cannot stand. I know many people love garlic, but I wish restaurants would learn that there are other flavor profiles. At first bite: dang, GARLIC POWDER. The French fries were crispy, and the rye bread was standard fare. The Cole slaw, served in a plastic ramekin, was also decent. 3 pieces, $22. My partner had a pulled pork sandwich and it was "okay." Here is one thing we found odd. If you sub out one side on the menu for another, it's a $5 upcharge. Right! That surprised us also. So if you want a vegetable instead of a potato or vice-versa, it's $5. Want a different kind of potato than what comes with your dish, also $5. Any change to the sides is $5, no matter how lateral the exchange is. For these reasons, it gets three stars, but not any more. Good (enough) food, friendly service, nice enough bar atmosphere with outdoor seating. Change the breading on the fish (and leave out garlic and onion powder!), make sure the soda has enough carbonation, and also allow for more flexibility on sides, and you'd have a five-star spot.

They also offer a special Saturday night menu featuring barbecued baby back ribs and prime rib, which we're already planning to come back and try. The atmosphere is laid-back and lively, with a variety of slot machines and pull tabs adding to the entertainment. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this place is worth a stop.
