As malls go vacant, Alderwood Mall seems to reinvent itself with densification with housing, new shops, and dining sites. The LEGO store is coming up on nine years at Alderwood Mall. Outlived even American Girl.and Mrs Fields cookies! Headed to the LEGO store with the Homie (4/30/21) after picking him up from his high school. Goodness knows how how much cumulatively I've spent toy dollars here. How many lines we've patiently waited in to get a free exclusive model, all preCovid of course! Today, we were there to buy a gift for his cousin, and of course, a combo birthday/graduation item for the Homie too. Helpful staff, great selection. All of us masked and socially distanced. While we didn't have a chance to go INTO the store and our first visit being during COVID-19, we stood in line and an employee walking out to greet everyone was able to help us without delaying our wait! We were there for about ten minutes and got what we needed quickly with efficiency and safety measures in place. Looking forward to going back when it's safer to do so. read more

The Lego store...where everything is awesome! I strolled in sans kids for a mere trip down memory lane. The Lego guy asks me, "Do you like Legos?" My response, "Doesn't everybody?" He then proceeded to remind me why we still love them. Legos, they're not just for kids. Lego has a Creator series where you can build very complex replicas of world monuments like London, England's Tower Bridge and Sydney, Australia's iconic Opera House. These kits have thousands of pieces and cost several hundred dollars, but if you are looking for a challenging puzzle to complete on a cold, rainy Seattle weekend, these kits are for you. The ferris wheel even has a motor so you can take it for a spin. If your "kid" (applies to friends/family trapped in an adult body) can't put down the game console, Lego is willing to join them in the virtual world. They have integrated some of their creations into game pieces that work in conjunction with apps on your Wii and Xbox. Then there are of course the fun collector pieces that capitalize on the latest movie or television show franchises. The Simpsons, Ghostbusters and Scooby Doo come to mind. Superhero kits like batman come with a batmobile, plane, motorbike and the bat cave to store it all. Legomaniacs will have hours of fun building and enjoying the completed project. Lego has also expanded into some fun niche market items. They sell Lego alarm clocks, Lego salt & pepper shakers, Lego keychains and even a notebook that has Lego locks on its cover. You can "write" messages with legos on the cover. How cool! Thankfully this store is over an hour's drive away from me; otherwise, my living room floor would turn into the midnight Lego landmine field and my wallet would be empty. Very nice employees at this location who love Lego. Although they are expensive, Lego is the only toy from when I was a kid that lasted 40 years for me to pass down to my son to play with, so I think they are worth it. The promos they do often have nice freebies for purchasing a certain amount. Not as chaotic as the Bellevue location. read more

A fun store to either bring kids, shop for kids or shop for the kid in us all. This store looked a bit small at first look from a distance but inside the shelves are packed with all the latest Lego models and sets. It's a bit overwhelming to look for a certain set but then one finds that they are organized by set category and the shelves make more sense. the staff member Jeff was knowledgeable on what sets were soon retiring. "We're not getting anymore of these". Many enclosed clear displays have completed sets to show how they look finished, The Taj Mahal was particularly impressive! This is the only place to see all the current sets on the Shelf. The department stores don't carry close to all the available Lego sets today. Be sure and check the store calendar for special events for ages 6 to 14. For example mini model builds and minifigure swaps. Also on the store calendars special giveaways for buying over 50 or $99 usually holiday oriented type Limited run sets. read more

A brightly lit room filled with red, yellow, green and more! My kiddo never seems to tire of Legos. The store is filled with kits from top to bottom and even stocks Duplos for toddlers. What I love most is picking up pieces a la carte - a wall filled with bins of Legos of different sizes, shapes, and colors. You can even find stems and flowers to put on the tops. You pick a small bin for $7.99 or large bin for $14.99 and you fill it with as much as it can handle. If it's a little over, the folks there are nice and will bring out some handy tape to make sure you don't lose any of your precious cargo. In the center of the room, you'll find a bargain bin. The star of the show is build your own Lego figures. Heads, legs, accessories and more. I'm a sucker for cute Lego people. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. My kiddo was looking for a particular piece and they knew right away whether it was in stock. The only downside is I wish some of the prices were more reasonable. read more

I trekked to Alderwood for American Girl for my ten year old and decided to stop in at the Lego store for mysel... I mean, for my other kid. This store is way more fun for me than American Girl but that's probably just personal bias. As mentioned in other reviews, the build-your-own-minifig station is amazing - we went home with nine minifigs including a lady-pirate, two motorcycle riders (one lady-type, one gentleman-type,) a chef, a king - all complete with appropriate hats or hair. You can choose any combination of 15 pieces to make your set of "three minifigures" - get all heads if you want but you have to buy 15 pieces. The idea is for you to get a head, a torso, legs, a hat/hair, and an accessory. We skipped accessories and got extra hats and hair. The store employees were making the rounds and making sure that everything was going smoothly for everyone. The clerks at the cashwrap were very helpful and loaded us up with extras - a free minifig, then a set of free minifigs based on the amount we spent. The wall-of-bricks is awesome and lets you get more of whatever color you're always running out of. I was less than impressed with the "girls" station of computers and "girl-themed" Legos that seemed to be sectioned off from the other stuff. Hey, Lego, one of the great things about your product is that it's for everyone - knock it off with the 'softer side of Legos' or whatever you're trying to do. (This is the missing star.) We were in on a weekday mid-day and it was already a little crowded, I'd imagine it's a bit overrun on weekends, holidays, and summer vacation. Plan accordingly. read more

I love the lego store because they have great prices, they have really nice employees who always greet everyone who comes in and try to talk to the kids. What a bright and colorful, not to mention fun, place. When we went, it was right before the holidays, and the place was super busy. The walls are lined with Lego boxes, and lots of kits. Probably any type of Lego you are looking for is here. They also advertised a special kit comes out weekly. For kids, there are small areas to play. I thought the coolest thing was the "build your own Lego man" area. You can choose unique hats, faces, torsos, and all the other things that Lego people need to make your own unique person. Legos are rad. My son loves them and always asks to come to this store whenever we go to Alderwood. Every time I walk in, there is some one to greet and assist you if needed. They have every kit you could every want in this place. They also have a little build your own guy station and then a wall of different legos that you can get in a tub. Today I visited the Lego Store at Alderwood Mall for the first time. My boyfriend is an enthusiast; to the point that he has purchased not one, but two Millennium Falcons. Upon purchasing the second one, the box didn't come with the handle and wheels and he was told that he could pick them up at any store later. At 4pm today I was treated rudely by the girl that was ringing up customers after waiting in line just to ask a question (I figured that that would be the place to ask a complicated question like that). I was promptly dismissed with attitude and an eye roll from said girl. With this being said, I did not make a nearly $400 Lego purchase for myself (my first set) as well as a $350 purchase for my boyfriend of one of the creator series he has asked for for Christmas. I will not be purchasing from this store or visiting it again. I live and work closer to this location, but will be driving to Bellevue to be further assisted for any future purchase. I work as a Customer Relations Manager and head the Social Media for my company, if she treated a client at my work, the owner would have let her go on the spot for the attitude. read more

They carry a lot of inventory and are rarely out of any if the must haves du jour. the staff here is way better than at Bellevue square. These people know it all and are friendly and very helpful. I called in the night before to see if they had the pieces I needed in their wall. They told me they had them in the three colors I needed in a all different sizes. So when I came in to buy a bunch. They didn't have any except in the random bin and they only had about a handful. Not enough to fill a small cup when I was coming in to buy 10 or more large cups full!!! I'm pissed they lied. We driven up first thing in the morning for this through traffic!!! Plus the 2 of the worker were rude one of the male workers was rude and snappy with my boyfriend and the female one was glaring at me and my daughter the whole time.
