Abel helping my son bag up and label his mini figure
Erika L.

We just love this store! My husband and son discovered it recently when looking for a fun weekend date for the two of them. After visiting a few times, my husband found out that they host parties there. We've been looking for an alternative to the "bouncy house" birthdays and this seemed perfect. Here are some highlights for anyone considering a party here: *Very resonable price - currently $195 for Saturdays and $160 for a M-F party of 12 kids *Large room for the party with Lego paintings/photo ops *Host for the party is PROVIDED! Ours was Abel, and he was fantastic! Great with the kids, kept track of the time, and handled transitions (and even my younger son's tantrum) with poise. *Fun and engaging activities--the kids get to build and race Lego vehicles for around 45 minutes. They all seemed to love this! *At the end, each child got to make their own mini figure and my son got to pick a special mini figure as a birthday gift from the store. *Staff is super nice, relaxed, and helpful. (Also love that no peanuts are allowed here since my younger son has a peanut allergy!) All in all, we were very impressed, we will be back for sure, likely doing next year's party here too! Highly recommend!!

Hands down best and easiest 5th Birthday experience on record to date! Bricks & Minifigs Staff have this birthday party stuff down to a fine art! They provide invitations for the event, set-up, decorate, entertain, and then clean up! All we had to do was show up, invite the children and bring the cake! We had a Minecraft Themed party and brought some extra decorations which our dedicated host, Abel, was amazing and wonderful at helping us set up, kid the kids busy during the party and then clean up. We listened to the owner's direction and did not worry about decorating the tables as the kids had legos all over them and it just would have gotten in the way. Instead, we brought some light snacks, juice boxes, cupcakes and balloons. They ask that you don't tape anything to the walls, but you can use a thumb tack to pin a sign to the wall. The owners were so sweet, knowing our theme they put together some Minecraft minifigs for the children to place in the lego race cars. Once the little party goers started showing up our dedicated host wasted no time in bringing out two huge buckets filled with Legos and provided the children with bases to build their race cars. We're not sure who enjoyed building the lego racing cars more, the kids or the parents! We caught some of the dads building and racing their own cars and competing against each other, while some of the dads ducked out to look at some of old school lego collectibles in the store, - ti was really cute. Great fun quality time. After everyone finished building their car to their liking, they took their car to our host who lined them up three at a time and then released them off the ramp where each car's lane was timed to see who's was the fastest and what place it received (1st, 2nd or 3rd). The competition among 12 five year olds was friendly and fun and the parents all had helpful advice on streamlining design. The room rental for 1.5 hours was $200 on the weekend for up to 12 children (there's an additional charge for each additional child - but we had 12 exactly). We were able to get a 11am booking and were allowed to come in at 10.30am to start setting up. Each child was able to take home their own minifig that they were able to build and personalize. Wonderful family owned and operated business and a pure joy to work with. They are closed on Sundays which I completely respect and appreciate. So if you are considering booking a party book early, and support this locally owned business owner!

Went to a great birthday party for a 6 year old today. About 12 kids. Most in kindergarten with some younger siblings. The room and activities worked well though towards the end of the time, the kids were getting hyper and there really wasn't room for running around. This was my first time in the store. Lovely family - run atmosphere. Every thing is displayed well to show off the collection. Well lit. Immaculately clean bathroom. Some used sets though I'm not sure they were priced competitively. Maybe these were for collectors? Overall a successful birthday party and fun place to visit.

Local shop selling used and new Lego's. You can sell your old Lego's for store credit. The used selection offers both completed sets and buckets of random pieces. They have bags with preset prices, but we found a larger container that included random pieces as part of the price that was better than just the bag, so do look around for the best option. They do parties here as well. It's open and can handle a lot of traffic. Folks were super friendly. My son enjoyed picking out pieces to fill a container he bought. Thankfully there are a few benches to sit on while you wait on your kids to spend way too much time here. Plenty of parking. I'm sure my boy will want to come back.

Great store, great people and good times! We spent 2 hours filling a bag with random Lego bricks! We felt like kids again!

Calico Toy Shoppe

We managed to hurry past it on the way to lunch, but I knew there was no way we were getting back to the ferry without going inside. Not with a two-year-old, a five-year-old, and my mother in our crew. To our kids' credit, I wanted to get them a souvenir, or at least allow their grandma to buy them something small with my supervision (she can't be trusted on her own). The store was colorful and appealing, and I couldn't deny my boys the pleasure of a quick, moderate visit. Calico was well stocked with toys and games, and my two-year-old immediately went for a giant cement mixer set that would board the ferry out over my dead body. I told the kids and my mom that they could buy one toy each, and that it would have to be something we could easily take home. There was a large selection of stuffies at the front of the shop, and I strongly encouraged them to find something in that area. Our older son obligingly picked an adorable baby turtle, but his brother refused every little stuffie I offered. Instead, he found a cheap disposable pinwheel that cost $3.99. He's been obsessed with fans for about half of his life and apparently, the pinwheel counted. My brother and sister-in-law got a couple baby toys for their babies and we went on our way, all the kids happy with their loot. We've been home for over a week and the baby turtle, now named Baby Turtle, has a place of honor in our five-year-old's bed. The pinwheel pops up in random spots in our house, sometimes waved with aggression in front of our faces. I liked Calico Toy Shoppe and would definitely shop there if I lived on Bainbridge Island. I'd recommend stopping in if you're visiting with kids. It's a great place to pick up a little souvenir.
