Visiting charlotte for a few days and found this hidden gem ! They have nice outdoor seating with TVs Inside they have high tables and chairs /TV . Staff was very nice and friendly got us seated and served pretty quickly and our waitress checked on us frequently . The brewery has fantastic wood fired pizza my fav ! So I was excited when I saw the menu ! To start I ordered the st. Germain spritz with cranberry which was really good ! Cranberries were fresh and tasty ! For our appetizer we tried the pretzel bites and they were AMAZING ! Highly recommend ! Nice and crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside , served with mustard , pimento cheese , and a creamy aioli . Hands down the best pretzel bites I have had ! I can't think of a better combination than wood fired pizza and beer. Usually breweries that serve food are either good at brewing or good at cooking but rarely both. This place is definitely the exception. The pizza was extremely good and the pimento cheese with the pretzel balls was TDF. Not to mention that the beer (which brought me here in the first place) was top notch. The Juicy Jay hit the spot. There was plenty of seating and the service was very attentive. After a pleasant morning of exploring some new parts of Charlotte, I stopped here for a refreshing adult beverage. Legion doesn't have a huge parking lot but they have a huge seating area, both inside and outside. The outside seating has a few televisions so that you can stay tuned in to the sports matches while you're getting your drinks. The wings and the burgers all look great but today was a simple stop for the beer. I enjoyed two of their Penguin Pilsner beers, which I found clean, crisp and hoppy. Delicious while I sat at the bar with my laptop and caught up on some emails. Legion has a comfortable, family-friendly vibe. I enjoyed my time and would return. A lunch visit to the brewery how can you go wrong with some delicious brews and good food? We came in a little before noon and right as we came in we were seated the whole time our service was awesome so you really couldn't go wrong asking their friendly staff anything! We ordered a flight to start with a bit of everything that sounded good and unique of them for me it was all about the Hot Fuzz a jalapeño peach sour and let me say it had a vibe to it while I didn't find it hot I found it quite yummy and super flavorful as I really do love the element of some spice in a good brew as it just adds so much to it! For lunch I just ordered your standard burger and let me say it was yummy cooked perfectly and it was just simple as you could really taste each of the elements in each bite which I do love a simple burger from time to time as it really can go a long way when done right just like they are doing here! The real thing that stood out to me was their homemade pickles those were totally good as they had an awesome and unique flavor to them while still being your standard pickle at the same time definitely don't overlook them and get some extras you'll be happy you did! Brews, pizza, and quality time--yes, yes, and yes! I had lunch at Legion way back in their early Wesley Heights days, but this recent trip reminded me why I need to visit more often. The pizza... y'all, the pizza. Dare I say it's one of my Charlotte favorites? While there's plenty on the menu, I think I'll stick with pizza moving forward--it's just that good. Came here on a Sunday evening and was able to get a table despite it being football season. They didn't have a beer that spoke to me but I want to come back to try the beer another time! For my meal I enjoyed the steak sandwich- it was flavorful with lots of sauce and on a delicious crispy bread. I upgraded to a side of the seasoned fried potatoes and they were great too. Visited this location for an event one of our customers was putting on. There is a large shared courtyard area with tables and fire pits that leads to the entrance, The weather was nice so they had the overhead doors open making the indoor area blend seamlessly with the outdoor courtyard. There is a long bar at the back of the space with some of the brewing equipment behind it. They have about 18-10 beers on tap as well as a few ciders, a kombucha, and soft drinks for those not drinking. The menu appears to be standard pub fare (wings, burgers, flat breads, etc...) I had the Penguin Pilsner, and the Sláinte (Irish Dry Stout). All of the beers were good, and the food was decent as well. The staff was pretty good, though it did take a little time to get your beers as it was a packed house for the event. read more

I was SHOOK! My family flew in from California for a visit. They picked Legion Brewing in our neighborhood and we happily said YES since we had not yet been to eat there. We arrived with 5 adults and 2 kids ready to enjoy the evening; but that's far from our experience. First, they said the air conditioner was not working well inside so we were all encouraged to sit outside where they had fans setup. Our family couldn't fit in the one small table where we were placed so we moved two tables together. The waitress came out and sternly addressed our table saying, "I cannot let you do this because other people will want to do this too. And, moving tables is not allowed." Um, excuse me... we would have sat inside if your business was prepared to receive customers in a properly air conditioned space. How very rude! We were shuttled to another table that was picnic table style under a red umbrella. We then ordered two kids cheese pizzas for the kids and when they came out one of them was so big we asked they put the other in a to-go box due to the size of the first "kids" pizza. We told our waiter (different person from the waitress who accosted our group for moving tables) that we were surprised at how large the "kids" pizza was and he said, "yeh, I sometimes order a kids for myself since they are so big." Well, when we got home... we opened the second pizza to store it for later and realized it was much much smaller than the first pizza that was served to us which immediately made us think they gave us the wrong size pizza but also that the waiter didn't even recognize the error with his statement that he too orders the kid's pizza due to the size. I had the arancini balls which were tasty, and I also ordered the peach caprese salad (basically peach slices on a plate with a few leaves of basil and a dollop of motz). While I appreciate the feel of non-bar food, paired with the seemingly unforgivable table policy and broken AC, I'm not sure that I would chance a return visit. I hope things improve; I really want neighborhood businesses to thrive. read more

Legion Brewery on West Moorhead st is a slept on gem. I will put their thin crust pizza up against any in thin crust in Charlotte and it's wood fired. We have had almost everything on the menu and nothing has disappointed. Just a few of the stars are their duck fat chicken wings, Soulvlaki kabobs, not really Caesar salad and pan roasted street corn. Came here with friends the other night and had a great time!! The beers were great and the food was awesome. I got the carne asada skewers which came with elote and corn tortillas. I didn't end up using the tortillas and the elote was great! It's a thin cut of meat, so definitely recommend ordering it medium rare. Very flavorful! We also got the buffalo chicken pizza which was delicious - the dough was really good and super tasty. The service was average, a little clunky. We sat outside to start, the space is quite large. All three are definitely worth visiting and serve the same craft brews (for the latest taplist checkout their respective listings on #untappd). This is their newest location and it is way more industrial chic w/a huge outdoor patio space. Ample prkg around the building and area. They also serve delicious dishes! Legion West Morehead is for the most part a pretty good brewery. The physical space is great and the beers are always pretty good. Where they are lacking is in the service department. Ever since Cameron was moved to a different location the service here has gone downhill. The bartenders are no longer friendly or attentive. There is usually either no one behind the bar or when there is they are at one of the ends chatting with their coworkers (I'm not against having fun at work but you are losing out on business when customers are waiting to order another beer and you are oblivious). It used to be a fun place to come grab a drink and feel welcome but unfortunately recently it has lost that vibe. read more

This is one of the new Legion Brewing locations in CLT and it's really nice! It has a nice combination of inside and outside seating, with a good amount of it available. A decent size bar area with taps, plenty of high tables and a few regular tables inside, along with picnic tables w/ umbrellas outside on the patio area. They also have live music on some days. The food/menu has a variety of options and is somewhat different from the other locations. However, this is a difference across all locations and provides variety. The beer is still great as well, with numerous options to choose from. Staff is friendly, attentive to your needs and helpful in making food selections! For a newer location, they've got it figured out! It's located on W. Morehead St in the Wesley Heights area, outside of Uptown. There is a parking lot and some street parking available if needed. I can't wait to go back! We went on the Saturday after opening. It was such a lovely day. There's lots of outdoor seating however, we ate inside to avoid having to wait. I am not a beer person so I was looking forward to a glass of wine but they didn't have wine available yet. Not to worry, I was a good sport & decided to give beer another go. The waitress was very friendly & knowledgeable. She asked what type of wine I'd normally drink & found a beer that wasn't too far off... let's just say I'd drink beer again! Great outdoor patio with the beer and food to match. This is our second time to visit and came on a Monday night. Fortunately, we were able to get a table outside (this place can get packed). We love the open setting and atmosphere at this new Legion location - and I always enjoy their IPA's. It was great to see a new brewery open with food and a varied menu. I went with the Doner Kabob ($9) and it was tasty and a great value. My bride went with the Margherita pizza ($14) without the sauce. The order didn't come out as planned, but they made it right - which was great to see. They've struggled with the pizza on each of the last two visits - so I think they are still working out the kinks in this new location. I really like the new Legion Brewing location! The inside has almost a date place vibe. The outside patio is chill. Oh--and plenty of parking!! Juicy Jay is my go-to Charlotte beer so it was a no brainer for my drink order. The food was really good and came out pretty quickly after ordering. We tried the carne asada kabobs, Mexican street corn, and wood fired potato fingerlings. Everything had good flavor but the street corn was way spicier than I expected. I can't wait to go back and try the pizza! They have a couple of corn hole games next to the patio area. They should probably work on improving the hostess stand situation or put 'reserved' signs on the outside tables so people walking up know they can't just grab an open table without being seated by the hostess. It's good to be back! Came in for the first time recently as part of a Yelp event, so I decided to return. This time I knew exactly what I wanted. A sparkle flight and lunar daze, plus the brisket pizza. The flight was tasty, I love that they give you the option to add various syrups to Carolina Sparkle Party, which is a Berliner Weisse. Flavors are strawberry basil, blueberry lemon, peach mint and blackberry sage. Yum! The brisket pizza was so good! It was really cheesy, nice flavor and nice portion of brisket. Actually I was quiet surprise this place was tuck back in a neighborhood I grew up in as child. I was thinking a quick little walk for a lot people who live near by plus close to the downtown stadium. First, I must stay there is lots of parking space that you don't have to pay to enjoy some brew, wine, food and the company of good people. Zack was our server and they knew what to recommend from the menu. I'm not a big fan of beers since it probably was my third time drinking one. I went with the sparkle beer with a strawberry basil added syrup to knock a little sweet taste. I also had the chicken salad wrap which was good and a lot. I did order a side of potato salad not a fan at all. My husband had the Morehead Monster burger and it was a beast filled lots of meat and flavor. My parents dish was fantastic too. Everything was good for our first time going they even was having a corn hole tournament two weeks later which we went too as well. We typically sit at the bar and the service is great, but we've also sat outside on nice evenings and had great servers. CLT is a craft brewery hot spot for a good reason and Legion is out here understanding the WHOLE assignment! Big parking lot - check. Wood-fire oven smells tempting you inside - check! Staff and service - check, check! Food - mmmm, check! Beer - next level check! For years I have been a big Juicy Jay fan (IPA drinkers knowwwww). Tonight I tried so many more Legion brews thanks to the flight offerings. It was hard to choose the best ones but for me the Slainte shined - dry Irish Stout 5.1% and soooo good. The Next Chapter & Lunar Daze were great too! My least fave was the Dos Amigos but ironically it was my sister in law's favorite so - just goes to show that Legion has a unique favorite waiting for everyone! Isaiah was our server Thursday night at prime time - 6:45 and he was one of the best servers, we all agreed. He was attentive, happy to accommodate, friendly, fun, and just relaxed! Lemme also say: this menu is creative and NEW for our area - the Mediterranean spit kabob always gets my mouth watering and I can't wait to see how they rotate the different meats in the future. Also, I can't recall ever seeing a list of 15+ dipping sauces to accompany a pizza. Very creative!
