Friendly and knowledgeable staff here at this board shop. We got top notch customer service by the young man there. That's rare these days, but alive and well here! When we are ready for the more customized board I will for sure be coming back. We got a great recommendation for new wheels and bearings for my son's first skateboard to feel a bit more pro. I had decided to take up skateboarding while I wait for 4 months for my roller skates and I'm so glad I came here. I had gone to Furnace Skateshop earlier and they weren't as friendly and as helpful as the service I got here. Shout out to Jose for being patient and knowledgeable in helping me build my first skate. He also didn't make me feel intimidated or stupid for asking questions (as a girl, I always feel intimidated going into a skate shop). The 2016 YELP 500, Review #137: Like most great experiences, this gets my highest first visit rating of four stars, with five on my next visit. A word to the wise from an old school skater... This is a fully stocked shop. I am talking you could literally come in here with nothing on and skate out the door with the latest clothing (socks? They got 'em! Underwear? Yep, they got your @$$ covered!), boards, wheels, trucks, stickers, grip tape, shoes, accessories, jewelry (watches, ear rings...), or kick it old school with some back in the day fashions. You can pick up clothes for the skate park or for going out at night. Long pants, shorts... doesn't matter they got it. I'm telling you this is the shop that other Iong to emulate. If you are reading this but, don't live in Downey, no problem they have shops in other locations. Google them, call them, whatever. Just come check this place out. Slamming the cash register, getting in his employees face, and using various obscenities. And kept up this behavior even after his employee offered to pay for the money lost. I'm trying to learn how to skate so I stopped by this skate shop to get a skateboard. I met Zack by the wall of skateboard decks near the back and told him I didn't know much about skateboards but I wanted one for commute and to do some tricks with. He helped me pick out the parts I needed like the deck, the grip tape, the trucks, the bearings, and the wheels all while considering my budget which was super cool. He put it together for me and I liked how awesome it turned out. Now I can start skating and with enough practice, I'll be able to Ollie over a Coke can in 10 years lol. I've been here a handful of times throughout the years, and I've always had a very pleasant experience. I went in yesterday and bought a pair of shoes and a few shirts. Two employees greeted me at the door, and they even sparked up a conversation with me. Nowadays, I walk into a high end skate shop and the employees expect me to treat them as if I owe them something. I can't say the same about this place. Artie was very helpful and answered all of my questions. The two employees were very knowledgeable about all the products I was choosing. The selection is pretty great as well. I finally found this Mark Gonzales shirt I've been looking for. They had a great variety of brands that can cater to many. Shortys, new deal, frog, butter goods, Powell,etc... they even have a decent sale section! I will definitely be coming back soon! Thank you Legends for the excellent customer service. read more

This shop is crazy they have literally everything you could want. This is probably the best skate shop product wise in the la area. They have a bunch of upcoming brands like Former, Quasi, and Butter Goods that are super hard to find and all the core skate brands as well. Crazy sale section too lots of rare older shoes that are hard to find. Employees were friendly and were even willing to listen to my old guy skate talk and didn't vibe me out. These kinds of shops are dying out and it's nice to find one that's close and can keep product in stock. read more

Came here for a skateboard for my son as he was starting Skatedogs camp. The two guys who were here when I came in were extremely helpful, they helped my son customize and put together his skateboard. All I had to do was tell them I was looking for a decent (not cheap) board, but not too expensive because I didn't know if my son would like skateboarding or not. 7/22/17 Update: my son loved Skatedogs camp and it was quite interesting to see that several of the first timers had the wrong skateboards ( long/short boards). My son had the perfect board it was even complemented several times. read more

Some of the worst customer service my husband and I have received. My husband and I walked into the store no one greeted us or even acknowledged that we had walked into the store. During our time inside of the store my husband asked one of the people behind the counter which he says might of been the owner if he could use the restroom. He didn't even look up at him so he asked again assuming he hadn't heard him the first time. Again he didn't look up and just said "No, you can use the one inside the Fresh N Easy." I know after that we should of just left, but we like to give people second chances. So we started to look at the shoes (only reason we were there), and found that nothing had a price! Again, my husband went up to someone to ask about the prices. This gentleman was nicer than who might again been the owner. We we're a little curious as to why they didn't have prices on the shoes. At first I thought i assumed they did this to allow them to interact with your customers and find out what they were looking for. Like an ice breaker, but the response we received was not what we were expecting at all.His response was: "Well we already know the prices I do this all day. Plus, if we sale a shoe we would have to take the tag off of that one and re-tag it." Yes I am not lying he said that!! Take your business else where. As small business owners ourselves we rather support small businesses rather than going to an outlet mall, but this time we made the wrong choice. read more

I'd seen the shop for a few years now, never had the nerve to stop in. My son saw the skaters in the Olympics, he fell in love with skating. ALL the guys are super helpful, we told them it was his first "board", they took to him right away. Perfecto and the rest of the guys are down to earth and just super cool guys. We're going to come back for a board for my daughter, only after she sort of learns on her brother's board. We will be back though. They also have the coolest gear. read more

I was completely surprised how big this place was when I walked in. I used to live down the street for years and always thought it was an odd place to put a skateboard shop. As soon as I came in, the staff were super friendly and helped me find what I needed for my holiday gifts. Cool selection of boards clothes and shoes and employees however the owner or main dude there couldn't be any less helpful. Went in and spent a few hundred dollars buying all kinds of things (multiple decks, bushings, shoes) & was helped out by a knowledgeable young man who also put my trucks on the new decks and added the grip tapes. Returned the next day to buy a complete and ask about the bushings I had purchased the day before. The owner seemed annoyed, blew it off saying it all comes down to preference, had no idea what differences I was talking about, and kept interrupting to offer to put them on my board for me with a smirk on his face (as if I hadn't tried that right). Very impatient washed up dude would probably be of more use to his shop if he'd stay home and let his employees take care of the customers. read more

I give this place a 5 star rating because overall their customer service was above and beyond I'm sure people become agitated because the place has a laid back feeling to it. I walked in and I didn't get greeted which was no big deal to me I didn't actually walk into the shop to buy anything I was looking to get information on a Nixon watch I bought somewhere else that had recently fallen apart. First and foremost Im a retail manager I completely understand the expectations. Retail is often very mechanical and people can be polite and greet you and acknowledge you but it's not that want to help you it simply is the way they're told to do things and most will never get out of their way to help you. With that being said, I walked up to the counter and asked Anthony and Josh if they did any Nixon watch repairs seeing as how they carry Nixon watches. Anthony inspected my watch and overall pointed me in the right direction as far as their policy as well as nixon's policy. I thanked him and he showed me the selection of their Nixon watches and let me patiently try out the watches that seemed to interest me. He gave me his honest opinion on the watches and even offered alternatives. I ended up buying a watch from Anthony and Josh not because I fell into a selling scheme it wasn't even because of their selection,in fact there is a zumiez in the mall down the street with a bigger selection but the way these 2 guys took care of me was beyond customer service. They developed a real connection with me and I will definitely keep going back to shop there again. read more
