The ambiance changes throughout the day depending on the people and this place makes a great people-watching location. The bartenders have always been friendly and kind and the service is very good. They do or use to have shows and events in another room that's connected to it and these are fun and can get kinda wild. Lots of the people who come here are here for conversation and watching the game and I have found mostly everyone very easy to talk to. If you have not been here I recommend coming on a Friday or Saturday evening. This is a good spot to pregame or to finish the night.

Seating originally was full house but luckily after a lap around, we were able to find a seat. Service was timely given the packed crowd and the staff was very accommodating and kind. They never made us feel rushed and was kind to give us some information about the history of the building. There was apparently another bar on the upper floor but when we visited it wasn't open. The drink list had a lot of options so it was easy to find a few options to try. There was even artwork (many were Duluth focused) from what I'm assuming is from local artists that were for sale which I thought was a nice touch!

Had me twirling like I was auditioning for RuPaul's Drag Race. The energy? So high I nearly ascended. But then--cue dramatic music--came the bartender. Best part is because he's so cool, all the people he hires to work for him are cool, thus the people that frequent there are cool, so by going there YOU are COOL by association. It's like one big cool club and everyone's invited. The amount of romances and babies that have resulted from ACES ON FIRST is probably what keeps the population of Duluth above the 2.1 children-per-woman needed to prevent a society's extinction. The Viola Lee Aviarion featured locally distilled Vikre Spruce Gin and was pleasantly balanced. We loved all of the assorted vintage glassware too. We've always ordered their Old Fashioned, so tonight was no exception. I wasn't too fond of the bourbon used but the drink was well made and was on a nice big ice cube. The vibe here is "speakeasy" in my opinion. Each time we've been here, there's only one person working and he stays busy. But he is very efficient, so we've never waited long for our drinks. One room here has a small stage and PA setup. We've never been here when they had entertainment. But they always have music on in the background for ambiance.
