There are so many knick-knacks that probably have so many neat stories to go along with them displayed throughout. It reminds me of those seek and find books that I loved looking through as a kid. This is the place that your father's grandfather went to grab a beer after busting his butt at the docks all day to provide for his family. No fuss and no frills, you get good service and good burgers while surrounded by nautical flair. You know this place is good because it gets busy fast. It's not the largest place but there is a patio outside for overflow seating. They don't take cards for payment, so make sure you bring cash. The burger menu offers classics as well as some unique twists such as green olive and cream cheese (as seen on TV) or jalapeno popper. The menu isn't large but offers the usual dar food fair. So grab a seat at the bar, get a good beer in-hand and strike up a nice conversation with the person next to you while enjoying a tasty hot, hot burger.

I persuaded my wife to go for an early dinner. I told her my perception was a "dive bar". She wasn't too pleased and I told her maybe an "eclectic bar" would be a better description. Yes...an eclectic bar. Cash only with an ATM at the ready with only a $2.50 service fee (my bank refunds all ATM service fees). We got the last two seats at the bar. There were two people working the bar and they were extremely welcoming, friendly, and attentive. We are from Texas and as soon as I open my mouth, you can see the "look" on their face. We both were very glad we went. My wife ordered the California burger and I ordered the mushroom and swiss cheese with the addition of sauteed onions and bacon. My burger was absolutely delicious. My wife really enjoyed hers, but mentioned she wished she had ordered it medium. The fries were obviously hand-cut and I assume on the premises...hot and delicious. Don't worry about plenty of ketchup. The bar had several, very large bottles of Heinz ketchup within easy reach. Plenty of rolls of paper towels. We ordered two Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy drafts; nice and cold. They use a very unique pint glass with a hole and magnet in the bottom. The glass is placed on the machine and it is enters through the bottom. Never have seen this before. Ambiance? Very eclectic with a nautical theme. I loved this place! Again, both servers at the bar were very attentive. Never walked by without asking is everything OK, or if there was anything we needed. This is a must when in Superior or Duluth. Would return again and I highly recommend.

It was definitely on the savory side with lots of A1-ish salty flavor and a nice homemade tasting pickle. It could have a little more pickle juice and hot sauce for my tastes but it wasn't bad at all! I ordered the standard sized (1/4 lb) Juicy Lucy made California style (with lettuce, tomato, and mayo) and really liked it! The burger was cooked just right and was served hot with minimal grease and JUST a little less hot molten cheese oozing out than I would have liked. I was thrilled to learn that their onion ring a and fried are convection baked instead of fried and pleased with how delishly crunchy they were! Overall a good experience and fantastic service.
