Gentle hands, honesty, and professionalism. These are the words to best describe my experience with Legendary Smile in the last 3 years. To start off, if you are someone that moves often from state to state and city to city, you know how hard it is to find a good dental hygienist, especially if you have a really really severe dental anxiety like i do. This is why I always just get my teeth cleaned at this office. Their dental hygienists are simply so good! I am very lucky to find a dental hygienist like Peyli, who can perform extremely gentle cleaning. Her lovely personality definitely makes the whole nerve wrecking experience even more easy. My teeth were fine but last Friday i felt like my front tooth was becoming loose. My dental anxiety kicked in and my panic mode turned on.. I called Legendary Smile immediately and i was able to make an appointment on following Monday(thumbs up for fast/flexible appointment time!!!!). In the office, they called me in promptly and got the X-ray taken right away. And Dr. Chan soon came over and reviewed my case. He took his time and thoroughly explained my condition including what could be causing loose tooth, my bone density, what can be done now etc. Dr. Theis also came over and offered alternative options i can take in the future with a timeframe of 6 month and 12 months. No pressure to do anything crazy with my teeth but just sincere and honest medical advice! I've been to many dental offices in NY and Boston but none of the dentists offered care like Dr.Chan and Dr. Theis did. The whole time i was speaking to them, i knew i was in good hands and i walked out of the office with complete physical and psychological relief. SCAM: The dentist I saw for Botox had his professional license Revoked in September for repeated DUI. Got the run around for MONTHS about trying to get a refund. Once I posted to yelp and google, information that is public available online, I received a call saying if I deleted my "review" they'd issue me a refund. read more

I've been coming to this office for a few years now, and they are great with my teeth! My teeth are in perfect health thanks to them. Recently, I came to them to have my veneers, which had been applied by another dentist, adjusted. Dr. Theis is a true artist and adjusted the veneers to my specifications. DO NOT GO HERE! Somehow my last review was deleted but this place is terrible! The dentist did a bunch of work on my mouth that he claimed was needed, but per my insurance company was not needed, therefore I am stuck with the bill. As if that is not bad enough, a crown was put in that fell out 3 times in the 1st year and the temporary crown he put in fell out that day. I am having gum surgery next week because of all of his shoddy work and just received a letter from the State that he lost his license. This dentist is a scam! Legnedary Smiles is in my network of dental insurance. At the time of my cleaning on 4/26/18, they asked for me to pay for the amount up front. I paid them $85 for my cleaning that should have been covered by my insurance company, however, didn't think much of it. A few weeks later (after my second appointment described below), I received a statement from my insurance provider saying they paid for $74 towards my bill, leaving me with a refund due of $11 from Legnedary Smiles. At the time of this appointment, they also told me I needed to come back in a few weeks for a deep cleaning on 4th teeth and gave me a quote of $112.50 based on my insurance. When I returned on May 10th for my deep cleaning, they charged me $95. I then again, received a statement from my insurance provider weeks later saying they covered $55 of the total, leaving me with a refund due of $40.25. Across two transactions in late April and early May, they owed me a total of $51.25 back from original payments made for two services. I have called them honestly 8-10 times over the last 5 months, being told multiple stories. One excuse was that the office manager was being replaced, which is why I never received a phone call back from them after contacting and speaking to someone at the front desk. I kept calling to follow-up on this refund and kept getting the same old story. In July, I was told the refund was submitted on 7/9/2018, and that I should see a refund by 7/23/2018. I never got the refund discussed via the phone. The latest phone call I made (of at least 8 calls) was on 9/28/2018, telling the lady that I have called multiple times and that each time, I've discussed that you owed me a refund, which was confirmed months ago when the new officer manager started. I was told on 9/28/2018, someone would call me back from the office. I am now writing this review on 10/4/18, with no phone call back nor refund. I am beyond fed up with this dentist, and actually cancelled my cleaning that was scheduled on 11/15/18, and told them I would no longer be utilizing them as a dentist. My boyfriend has the same exact insurance I have (as we work at the same employer), and when he goes to his dentist, they NEVER ask for payment upfront, as the majority of his cleaning is covered, if not all. The only reason a portion of my cleaning was NOT covered, was due to the fact that they did a complete set of radiographic images, which apparently are only paid for by the insurance 1x every 3 years. Due to the change of dentist, I ended up having a complete set of images done since I had never been there before. Therefore, having to pay for this one service item. Otherwise, my insurance statement shows they could for a full cleaning and topical fluoride-varnish. I would NEVER recommend this dentist to anyone who lives in the area. It is completely unacceptable that I, the customer, have called almost a dozen time and still have yet to receive MY money back that they owe to me. If I could leave 0 stars, I would! The ONLY positive comment that I have is that the lady who cleaned my teeth was extremely friendly and great at her job. Excellent staff and dentist. Explained everything that would happen. Extra clean. Appointment time is honored at the time scheduled. No waiting! Shady billing practices. If you're not sure of your plan coverage you will pay out of pocket for services that should be covered under the plan. Office manager is not nice or helpful either. It's hard to rank them because they have great care but shady billing. Be your own judge, just be aware of what your out of pocket responsibility is. You will get Excellent care here! read more

Customer service 5/5 - I called several dentistry's in the area and of all of them Legendary Smiles was the most capable of answering my questions, efficient in conversation and direct with pricing. Staff at Legendary Smiles changed my original appointment to better accommodate my schedule. They were understanding during the actual visit and made me feel like a long-time customer even though I'd never been there before. Pricing 5/5 - Legendary Smiles has some incredible deals for making those teeth pearly white and keeping them that way. I'm sure prices are always changing but a new-patient appraisal, two standard teeth cleanings with any additional teeth work discounted made Legendary Smiles by far the cheapest choice. Every other dentist I called in the area was charging an equivalent amount for a SINGLE TEETH CLEANING. Expertise 5/5 - I always have questions, questions on questions and then questions within those questions. Dr. Theis was patient, understanding and willing to walk me through everything I asked him. By verbalizing the procedures performed Dr. Theis created a very open and comfortable environment to be within. All in all Dr. Theis is a great dentist and individual. Since moving from Portland, OR a few years previous I've been looking for a dentist who can handle all tooth needs. I've found Dr. Theis and staff to be more than capable and expect, no count on becoming a long-term patron! read more

Located in a tiny stand-alone office building across from the Havertown Superfresh shopping center. The tech who did my cleaning and took my x-rays (a temp from nj though) was a total sweetheart, great conversationalist and the doc here was knowledgable, professional and seemed genuine. He took the time to really explain things to me and had a warm demeanor. Normally I hate going to the dentist but this wasn't so bad! They even have their own insurance plan there for those who are uninsured. Looking forwards to returning. EDIT: However some of the front desk receptionists borderline harassed me to make a cleaning appointment, like really unprofessionally asked for my availability, called me to chastise me for missing an apt even though I had called to cancel it and seemed annoyed when I couldn't commit to making an appointment bc their hours are limited and they're closed a couple days a week and I'm not rearranging my work and vacay schedule to accommodate their limited summer hours. Today received bills for service provided 1.5 years ago. Last year, our family decided to change practices because of rude staff, inappropriate referrals to their affiliated practice in Media, inconsistent billing practices, and unprofessional conversations between dentists. I now have a black tooth, huge hole in the back of my front tooth and NOW have to have the tooth extracted. I would not recommend this dentist to anyone! read more

I was seeing another dentist for quite some time..better part of 15 years. He closed down his practice so I gave Legendary Smiles a chance. From the initial visit I thought something was off with the billing. My previous dentist never charged me above the regular cleaning deductible and performed a even a deep cleaning. In any case I paid the additional charges that were asked for. They also charge additional fees for non-mercury fillings which I understand, but I now find out that other dentists do not charge extra for it, so be sure to ask. I had a few fillings done, one that wasn't done properly and I had pain. I went back to Dr Theis twice to get it resolved and I am still in pain. I will need to get another set of eyes to look at this. I never had any issues with any fillings for over 20+ years...I understand this sometimes happens but then getting an additional bill for over $300 is absurd. Their accounting of what they tell you and you pay in the office is completely different from what they send you in the mail. I am not happy now and will have to pay out of pocket to get this tooth filled again. Please be aware of the accounting gotchas. read more

Some background on me since I think some folks may relate. I'm in no way a dental hygiene nut. I'm not experienced enough to compare the nuances of dental offices, conditions of waiting rooms at one place vs another, etc. In fact, quite the opposite is true. Since having had quite a few bad childhood experiences with dentists and orthodontists, I developed what some could consider to be a convenient phobia through adolescence and my adult life. Nothing that would be comparable to a grown woman crying when confronted by a clown on 'Maury'...more like I'd come up with excuses to avoid getting the treatment I needed. A busy work schedule and lack of insurance were ways I rationalized not coming in, even for a quick checkup. Truthfully though, I was afraid of being judged for my poor oral health and the pain that would soon follow as punishment. This went on for about 10 years until a dental emergency combined with the fact that I haven't felt free to laugh or smile for the past two years due to my cracked/decayed front teeth, forced me to face my fear of the dentist and go. I wasn't going to get rid of my phobia overnight. I decided I'd slowly start pushing myself over the edge by extinguishing all of the excuses I've used in the past. With the new year coming up, I budgeted time away from work to go to the dentist and I picked up a Careington discount plan so I could get reasonable savings. I then compared all of the Careington providers in my area against online reviews and found Legendary Smiles to be the highest rated. They did not disappoint! Prior to the actual exam, I was asked how long it had been since I had been to the dentist. I reluctantly admitted that it had been 10 years and awaited the scolding. Lucy, who was getting ready to do my X-rays, genuinely replied "Good for you!"...that was it! I thought....surely my cracked and mangled front teeth will horrify her....NOPE! She was very professional and simply went about her work. This helped me to feel like I wasn't the only one that's been in this situation. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Theis performed a very thorough examination and worked with me to develop a treatment plan. He was very positive and forward thinking. He focused on solutions and at no point did I receive the lecture I had played out in my head a thousand times. I left my first appointment excited about the possibility of living pain free and being able to smile and laugh without having to be embarrassed about my teeth. Now a month later, I've gone through scaling/root planing, root canals, extractions and fillings. Having taken responsibility for my prior neglect, I understand that all of these scary sounding procedures were necessary for me to recover. All of these visits were relatively pain free and not what I had imagined them to be. That chair, that I initially imagined to be the one from the Green Mile, is now growing on me. That's right- I now like going to the dentist! The staff is very pleasant and knowledgeable and can carry a great conversation to take your mind off things. Before you know it, you're walking out of there and it's almost like the actual procedure was just something that happened during your visit! However, today was an extra special day! I got the cracks in my front teeth fixed and I can barely tell where the cracks and decay used to be, even when looking closely. I almost got into a car accident on the way home- I couldn't stop looking at my teeth in the rear view mirror! If the older gentleman driving the red dodge is reading this...sorry for almost giving you heart attack. I probably looked demented- smiling and swerving on the road- but I felt like a million bucks! Dr. Theis is very professional & is great at what he does. However, his front desk staff is very unprofessional and flat out rude. Every time I am in the office there is a different patient arguing with the front desk over their charges being incorrect (which makes me lose trust). When you enter an office, the service you receive from the very first person you see (the receptionist) should be welcoming and nothing less than professional. The front desk is the exact opposite. My experiences at this office could be 100x better if the front desk staff was adjusted. read more

I have been to Legendary Smiles a few times. My experience with the dentist and hygienists have never been anything other than pleasant. However, when it comes to a billing, it is a different story. At the end of a past visit, the total owed from me had changed from the original stated total and not reviewed with me until I had mentioned this discrepancy. I always request clear itemized billing so that I know what I am responsible for at my visits. On top of this, a few months ago I had received a bill from the practice for an outstanding balance. No description just the balance was written in the billed letter. I called and the person that received the call looked into it and said this was a mistake and should be disregarded. However fast forward to today, I'd called for a new appointment. The receptionist goes straight to say I have an outstanding balance, interrupting me while I am asking questions about my next appointment. As I had called about this outstanding balance before, I told her that the last billing receptionist told me to please disregard (which is what I did). Also, I had never received any correspondence or additional bills after I had been told to disregard it. So, now I know there is lack of 'notes' taken for phone calls from patients since this bill was still outstanding in their system. And, please if you are telling the patient that they have a balance from over a year ago, I'd appreciate more details of that claim, what was covered, for what services, etc.. The customer service skills from this person that I spoke with today was upsetting. I've requested an itemized bill to be mailed that I will be sure to review. read more

First I have to say that I am an avid yelper. I find it very helpful, so I love to return the favor! I actually stumbled upon Dr.Thesis online and wow how lucky I was! I live in Delaware so the office is only about 25 minutes from me, but to be honest if it were farther I would take the drive. I came in for Botox injections after extensive research of Dr.Thesis ( it is my face after all! LOL) and I was pleasantly surprised at his qualifications( to perform injectables since he is a dentist) , schooling, and knowledge. From the time I called in to make an appointment to the time I stepped foot in the door everyone was so kind and helpful! Anyone who gets botox or fillers I would definitely recommend to him. He was very gentle and made sure I told him what results I was looking for. The pricing is actually amazing there is no reason why I would not continue to come here! Dr.Thesis and his staff were very personable and friendly and I felt like I have been going there for years! Although I didn't go in for any kind of dental work, i had questions and he answered them all! I just left my first visit and am definitely happy with my choice to change practices. I was greeted right away and shown to the exam room within a few minutes, which I always appreciate. Buyers beware. I am 45 years old and have always had great teeth, no cavities. After my recent cleaning in February 2017 and being told I have 3 cavities that need fillings for $322 (discounted rate for uninsured), I became very suspicious especially while not feeling anything was wrong in my mouth. Since I typically only need cleanings, I decided to switch to this office for convenience in 2016 after moving to Havertown a few years ago. My previous dentist who I saw for many years is very respectable, but 30 miles away. I visited them last week for a second opinion and review of my X-rays and was told there is absolutely nothing wrong with my teeth. They said unfortunately in this business, it is not uncommon to be told you need work when you really don't. Needless to say I will be driving 30 miles twice a year for my cleanings for honest and trustworthy dental care. Unbelievable I could have had my teeth drilled for no good reason and wasted $322 while currently unemployed with no dental insurance. Many of the positive reviews here could very well be true, but question if some of the good work they received was even necessary. read more
