The staff were friendly, and I didn't have to wait too long to be called back. Hygienist ?Daniele? was easy on me and even complimented that I was the easiest clean in weeks. I asked if that meant I got the easy on the hygienist discount. Laughs. Dr Wardius was obviously very experienced and thorough and easy to work with. A couple of recommendations were made and I was out of there quickly. While the practice was not pushing technology, I left thinking that maybe the office could use a little bit of a technology upgrade. But it was just an overall feeling that I had, nothing specific comes to mind.

The other had a couple cavities and the experience was a nightmare that they continue to talk about today 13 years later. Following a totally normal check up, at their next visit, they had three cavities. First, the doctor suggested I gave my child juice and candy all the time to create the problem - my child was not given either at this age. Second, she suggested that they did not know how to brush their teeth. Their father and I had been brushing them consistently because they were only five. My child was placed in essentially a medical straight jacket for the procedure, gassed and verbally bullied by the dentist while in the chair. When I saw what was happening, I told them they had had enough and it needed to stop. Understandably, my child developed a phobia regarding dentists as their early experiences were so traumatic. To make the situation worse, we transferred care to Brandywine Dental Associates and upon exam were told that my child did not have any cavities... I think what stood out to me the most about the experience was the tone that was taken with my two children. With one it was all Disney and happy and my other child was treated as though they had been a bad kid and made to feel ashamed for cavities that wound up not even existing...

If you ask and they don't know, they will find the answer for you. Michelle is the most thorough hygienist I've had and has great conversation. I went in today after making a SAME DAY APPOINTMENT, which is unheard of. I arrived half an hour early and the inside is so quaint and cozy. You don't feel like you're in a waiting room, you almost feel like you're on someone's enclosed country porch. I filled out my paperwork, and I was taken back to the dental chair RIGHT ON TIME. No waiting, no wondering. The hygienist was incredibly sweet and polite (the receptionist too), took all my info and was very considerate and understanding taking my x-rays which of course are so unpleasant. Then I saw Dr. Emily Hu, and I cannot recommend her enough. She was SO patient with me. I have no pain tolerance, and she was so considerate and kind. Several times she held up a hand mirror and showed me exactly what was going on with some problem areas, and explained clearly and in a non-judgmental way. Going to the dentist is never fun but this experience was so great, I just can't believe it. I have seen some pretty crappy dentists in my life but HappyCare and Dr. Hu were the best I have ever visited in my 40 years on Earth.
