I left this office feeling frustrated, confused, and frankly, very disappointed. I came in for a dental procedure, only to have Dr. Lee tell me that the treatment will most likely not be effective and that I would likely need a crown instead. I asked why we weren't just proceeding with the crown if that was the more reliable option, but rather than clearly addressing my concern, the dentist kept repeating himself without actually answering my question. As I attempted to clarify my concerns, namely, that I didn't want to pay for two procedures if a crown was ultimately necessary, I felt dismissed. I even said it felt like I was being gaslit because my questions were not being answered directly. Only then did he explain that he was confident in the treatment plan and had only been presenting a "what if" scenario. I appreciated the clarification and told him I understood, and he apologized for the earlier confusion. He then numbed my mouth with a lidocaine injection and left the room. A few minutes later, the office manager came in to tell me the dentist would not be performing the treatment due to what they considered "hostile language." I was completely shocked. I had asked valid questions about my care and tried to understand my options, this should never be labeled as hostile behavior. What's even more upsetting is that they numbed me before informing me they wouldn't continue with treatment. That felt both unprofessional and unnecessary. I will not be returning to this office. Patients have every right to ask questions and seek clarity about their treatment plans. If a provider cannot handle that, it may be time to re-evaluate their approach to patient care. read more

This should be a negative star rating but it makes me leave at least 1. This has been the worst experience ever. I would NEVER recommend going to any of the practices in the Brilliant Smiles Dental Group. I had enough of an issue with the rude staff at Lansdowne Family who talked smach about patients in front of other patients. But Elegant Smiles has taken the cake. I went there for an initial visit which results in 2 additional visits. I am convinced that similar to other reviews the work they claimed I needed was not at all the case. They are money hungry. Dr. Lee told me that I had a cavity on a molar that he said would need a root canal which resulted in me having to go to a an endo who determined that was incorrect. That cost me $100 for a 10 minute visit. And after a second opinion was told it was not a cavity at all just discolored. (Appt also cost me another $50) I was also told at that 2nd opinion appoint that one of the fillings I just paid for was shotty and will need to be redone which will only cost me more money. Elegant Smiles kept trying to convince me it was a cavity and that I needed to have it taken care of along with the need for a crown. But the kicker is over the 3 visits I paid $710.20. When I got the EOBs they total $432. Meaning I overpaid $278.20. Yet basic math is too difficult and I was sent a check for $70.20. Where is my other $208!?!?!?!?!? According to my insurance claims they put in didn't qualify because the issue was not what they made it to be. I'm convinced that the work I did have done was not needed. I mean when you have a dentist who can not even accurately diagnose a cavity you don't get the warma nd fuzzy feeling. So here I have 2 months since the last time I paid them and I am still out my money. Also lets add they said they wouldn't refund me my overpayment until they got the money from the insurance company. Long and Short DON'T GO HERE! They are just after money. read more

Can't be trusted. Grateful that my visits were always met with friendliness, and extreme kindness. However, my only complaint is - this dental practice is consumed with inventing teeth problems. Previous to my visits here, my dentist teased that I should eat gummies because my teeth were perfect - no cavities, and no major concerns for crowns. All that changed when I was seen by various dentists at Elegant Smiles. They convinced me I needed crowns, which was later found to be false claims. Furthermore, one of the dentist at Elegant Smiles broke my tooth and I was forced to pay for his mistake...I had to get another crown, thanks entirely to the dentist who forced gauze between teeth while crowning another. read more

NEVER TRUST A DENTIST WITH A .. BILLBOARD My husband and I just returned from the most horrible experience from a medical professional we ever encountered. THERE WERE NO COVID PRECAUTIONS There is noone sitting outside to take temps and ask the Covid questions. In fact, we were in the waiting room for 40 minutes and noone ever took our temps. There are no social distancing markers ANYWHERE. The furniture is 2 chairs and a sofa. There were no distancing marks on the sofa, and no signs to instruct you to do the same. The desk was surrounded by plexiglass, but it was dirty. They emailed our paperwork.. I called to tell them my printer didn't work. I was told to come in at 9:30 for a 10:00 appointment. We arrived at 9:20. We were told to take a seat. Again, our temps were not taken. We waited for 15 minutes to sign in and get our paperwork. I then proceeded to line up at the counter, self socially distancing, of course. The gentleman behind the desk couldn't find the paperwork. We sat back down for another 10 minutes. My husband went to the counter and a tech had to tell him where the paperwork was. Again, noone took our temp. My husband voiced his concerned. We were given the usual bull excuse and apology from a tech. We sat down to complete our forms. The first 2 pages were about costs and leaving them my credit card! Hell no! One page had details of how much we would be billed if we were late. Yes, there was a note on the waiting room as well. We did not complete the paperwork. We spent 40 minutes in the waiting room without even a temperature check. DO NOT TRUST THIS DENTIST WITH YOUR MOUTH!!! There Covid protocol is non-existent. Waiting in a waiting room for 40 minutes with others who did not have their temps checked is dangerous! They should close during Covid. They are not equipped to deal with it. read more

I haven't been able to afford dental insurance in almost 9 years, so my teeth are a mess! I was finally able to purchase dental insurance for our family and Elegant Smiles was on our list of providers who accept our insurance. Shortly after my insurance coverage started I had pain in one of my lower molars. I called their office and they were able to get me in fairly quick. The staff was very helpful and kind. Dr. McDowell did my root canal, Jessica assisted, and Liz gave me all the financial details up front. Dr. McDowell explained everything he was doing as he did it. Jessica's kind words about how dental insurance is expensive made me feel better about not being able to afford it for so long. Liz have me the insurance coverage info with exact cost on my end before the procedure was done. The office is very clean, comfortable, and modern. I will be bringing my whole family to Elegant Smes for their dental care! I was extremely pleased with my experience there! read more

After a number of horrible experiences with other dentists which further cemented my dental phobia, Dr. Neilson is an absolute relief. His office staff are the best I've ever encountered, and really add to the relaxed environment of the office. Dr. Neilson is everything you'd want in a dentist and more. His practice is extremely flexible in their approach to dental anxiety, and they have done everything they can to make my visit calm and efficient. This used to be a top notch facility when Dr. Barb was in charge and had excellent support staff. Now the entire place is subpar, from top to bottom, especially at the front desk and billing. I loved it here so much that I didn't mind coming back two days in a row. Betty, my hygienist, was INCREDIBLE. I haven't been to the dentist in a really long time and have a great amount of anxiety. She put me at ease immediately and was so warm and also non-judgmental! She explained everything that she was doing, which I loved, because it made me feel better about how the process was progressing. In addition, she gave me tips on keeping my teeth in great shape in between cleanings. Even Debi, who I only interacted with briefly as she helped set up the TV for me, was lovely. Dr. Barbara Neilson is incredibly warm and friendly. She helped me both days I was there and also put me at ease. Alyssa did some fillings for me and was 100% patient with what I considered to be my annoying fidgeting. I can not imagine giving this place anything less than five stars. As far as dentists go, Dr. Barbara Neilson has proven time and time again to be the most personable and professional dentist I have ever experienced! She not only takes a moment to chat with her patients, but goes the distance to offer suggestions and *listens* to you. She's not the typical "in and out of the chair" doctor who can't remember one patient from the next, she is clearly invested in her work and your health. Happy teeth aside, the staff at Elegant Smiles is exactly the type of team you'd want probing your chompers. They work together effortlessly and get to know the patients. From Betty (how many reviews do you see where the same person is mentioned over and over ? I mean, isn't that a selling point in itself?!) who gives great dental advice to Andy and Liz in Reception who ALWAYS brighten a visit. It's rare to find a perfect doctor's office and I feel lucky to have found a place I'm willing to travel far and wide to get to as I know it's worth it. ............................................................... and since we're on a review-roll here, I would also recommend taking any "low star" ratings with some mouthwash. I came to this office because it was closer than where I had been going. I was pretty annoyed about poor communication in November of 2016 during my first visits. I was provided an incorrect appointment time, incorrect appointment time to see a specialist, and then the wrong time again when I had come back. Dr. Barb is very sweet and so is the hygienist, Stephanie. I wasn't told about costs for work to be completed until I received bills in the mail. I still continued to come and then in January I was told I owed a large amount. After speaking with a co-owner who kindly worked with me on the costs (all problems apparently from old staff) I then waited an hour to be seen before leaving. I was numbed up by a kind hygienist with excellent hair but sat in the chair with an assistant who popped her head in once or twice the doctor would be in in 5 minutes 20 minutes ago kind of deal. For personal reasons made clear to the office from my very first visit I could not wait. I am pretty disappointed with the experiences and will not be coming back. Some nice staff people but it's not worth it. I had to call the office a few times about a refund, as I had already paid. My recommendation is steer clear based on my experience. read more

I am very disappointed in the lack of respect i received at Elegant smiles. My children loves going to see Barb & Betty, however my last encounter with Liz and Andy was condescending and just plain rude. This particular issue happened about 2 months ago and i waited to write this review in hopes that someone would give me a call to rectify and no one did. I also went to elegant smiles to speak with a supervisor, one was not there. So i had to speak with Liz who was at the front desk. I explained to her that our last conversation i requested a supervisor or Andy to give me a call (when i asked to speak to him he wasn't available) and at that time it had been 2 weeks and no call. She said "I can't help that he didn't call you". I also said to her our last conversation was very condescending on your part and it was disappointing. She just stared at me and said nothing.
