Just came back from vacation and we wanted to get a tattoo as a memory for our awesome vacation. Although the shop was clean, and people seemed very knowledgeable and nice I was not impressed with the work. I do believe that the senior artist does amazing work from what was shown in books and portfolio and I admire that his son is taking in his foot prints but his son Isiahs work was less than satisfying. Really bummed that I decided to get my tattoo done there. Now I have to find another artist to fix up the mistakes. I'll post the pics of what we wanted and what we got... On another note I was told the derm film would protect my tattoo. Well it seems he forgot to put the moisture before the film so it ripped off a lot of my tattoo. Really bummed. My aunt lives in the Bay Area and is hoping to get a portrait of her fur baby very soon but it will be from the father. Hopefully he can fix what his son did. read more

The only reason I went here was because it was the last day of our vacation and I honestly thought the tattoo I wanted was impossible to mess up. I was wrong. When we called to make an appointment they didn't take down our names (red flag number one) and when we got to the shop no one remembered taking our call of setting up the appointment with us. I was charged $100 for honestly the worst tattoo I've ever gotten, that the artist spent 3 minutes and 15 seconds on (the iPad connected to the tattoo gun counts how long they spend on the tattoo). I'll let the picture of my tattoo speak for itself. It's honestly super simple line work that an amateur could have done better and now I'm stuck with what looks like a janky prison tattoo. Lesson learned, we won't return. Also it's only been a little over two weeks and look how much ink has fallen out. read more

The white guy with the long hair certainly has some anger issues. He was really rude and did not know how to treat the only customer he had while we were there. I ignored that and I still went and got a tattoo done. When I returned to the mainland, to my surprise the tattoo faded away very quickly. And now its like half light tattoo and the other half is gone. It looks so bad now. And this is after doing all that the artist said and also buying those cream he sells there for. He will also apply a tiny piece of tattoo derm and charge you $10, and then you'll go home and check amazon just to realize that you can buy the entire roll for less than that.. Thank- you for responding to my review after months. And just so you know, A. This was not my first tattoo. I already have 2 tattoo. B. I was on a tropical place for a vacation. What makes you think i was wearing shoes? I have a picture in my sipper when i got my tattoo done. C. If I can afford to come to Hawaii traveling 16 hrs on flight, i can definitely afford to pay for my tattoo. Instead i paid for my friends too, if you have forgotten. Guess who is a liar now? Before I decided to get my first tattoo, I had watched and admired Peter's work for a few years. When I was finally ready, I reached out to Peter and he not only patiently answered all my questions as a first timer, but also explained how he works so I knew exactly what to expect when I walked in his studio. After seeing Peter's design on my body (Yes, he draws directly on you to make the design fit your body curve, not on a piece of paper), I told Peter, "Honestly, when I walked in, I wasn't 100% sure if I wanted to do this. But after seeing the design, I am 120% certain. Let's do this!" My tattoo is medium sized, which required two sessions. I did my first session with Peter in SF and two months later, we flew to Kauai for our honeymoon AND for the second session of my tattoo. The studio is bright, spacious, and clean! It's a very well run family business. Peter's wife Donna was extremely helpful when she noticed that my pain tolerance was low on that day for some reason. So she sat beside me and chatted with me the entire time to distract me. Before I know it, my tattoo was done. It's beautiful. It means so much to me! THANK YOU SO MUCH for bringing art to all of us in a meaningful way! I absolutely LOVE my tattoo. Already thinking about getting my second one. I ain't letting nobody do it but Peter!! read more

I've known this family for quite some time. I've watched Peter tattoo folks in the past while at the shop on other business. The best thing is that for the new comer to tatts, these folks educate them before they start. What to expect, how long it takes to heal, etc. They've had several succesful shops. Had some great work done by an awesome artist there, Mystic.. but seems that the owner wants to run a shadey shop and not pay its employee.. I wouldnt trust any other artist there as even the son of the owner has made some critical mistakes on tattoos and then bully the upset customers into staying hush.. it's pretty bad when no locals will even go there.. read more

If you are going to get a tattoo while you're on Kauai then Peter is your man. Heck, if you're on another island fly to Kauai and get your tattoo here. Just look at the website and have a look at his art. Peter is a long time artist. I wouldn't trust anyone else. I've been to Peter's home base shop located in San Francisco where he runs a tight ship. The staff there is friendly and talented. * I was super excited when I found out that he opened the new shop in Hawaii. When the friends/family come to visit this is where I take them. * I am completely shocked with the 3 star rating. I read through them and you can tell that the reviews are obviously fake. They don't have profile photos to start. It's very sad that other tattoo shops feel threatened enough to stoop as low as this. Don't trust anyone else. Get inked here. I don't normally write reviews but I seriously LOVE Legend Ink This place is amazing. Great people and great vibez. A friend recommended this place, and it truly is a local gem! First and foremost I walked in and got greeted right away! I believe first impressions are everything and Peter, Donna and Isaiah are very welcoming. They make you feel like family and at home. This was my first tattoo so I was very nervous. Peter and Donna answered all my questions prior to tattooing and walked me through it. They made me feel super comfortable. Peter was beyond great and patient. I had an idea of what I wanted done (Mother & child) and Peter dove into my idea and just designed something that was amazing. I couldn't even had thought of something that he designed. His vision and creativity is incredible. Definitely going back! THE best tattoo experience I've had. Issaiah is so talented and a joy to be around. He had my tattoo mocked up within 20 minutes and jumped right in with his own ideas and artistic insight. Him and his mom are both delights, and the atmosphere of the shop is comfortable yet extremely professional and high end. They catered to us with drinks and really made the whole experience amazing. Isaiah's works speaks for itself, definitely stop by and check out his portfolio but I can bet you won't want to go anywhere else on the island. Isaiah (sorry for spelling) did an awesome job for me. I walked in with a rough sketch of what I wanted. He did his magic and in 15 min had the design done. Totally stoked on the final product. My appointment was at 11 and the shop was already open. Everyone was friendly and the shop is very clean and professional. Highly recommended. read more

Pretty disappointed. Spoke with Mandy and requested a 6:00pm appt (latest 6:15) with Alden. Got to the shop at 6:05 and Alden was gone. Apparently Mandy scheduled our appt for 5:30. We even actually went there a few days before the requested appt & Mandy said she didn't mind staying back herself to do our tattoos but when I called to see if it was still possible she passed the buck to Alden that day of. What a way to ruin our last day in Kauai. Left our honeymoon very disappointed. Thanks Mandy! Don't say you close at 7pm and have your artists leave at 6. Mandy even reassured us that if we got there a little late (which we didn't!) we'd be fine. I left one star due to customer service we received from the other lady who worked at the shop. We didn't get her name but she truly tried her best to help us out for the mess up. If it wasn't for her... I'd leave them ZERO stars. read more

They took my tat deposit when the artist never showed up. Even after explaining to the shop manager it was the artist that didn't show up. We were there waiting for the shop to open. Even the apprentice that was waiting for the shop to open was embarrassed for them. Would never recommend a shop doing shady business like that. read more

Only giving this place 1 star because I cannot give this place 0 stars. Made an appointment with a women on the phone on Sunday morning for a tattoo early Monday before my flight. I told them what I wanted and asked would I be done before my flight. They told me to come in Monday at 10 am. Fast forward to 10 am Monday. I get to the shop say my name and get s confused look from the man with the overly long hair at the front desk. I told him I had an appt with a woman named named, again he looked very confused, he stepped outside (to call Mandy I assume) and came back in and said I don have an apportionment because I didn't leave a deposit. It would have been nice to have been told about a deposit prior to coming to the shop. Needless to say I walked out they just missed out on 6 additional tattoos. Guess it my fault for picking a place with only 2 reviews. Tip for manager, train your employees better. read more

I went in to check out the artists work to see if I wanted to get a tattoo from there. After flipping through all the books only 1 artist had work I was impressed with. I asked the receptionist if that artist was available. She awkwardly skimmed her phone calendar before telling me that all the artists are experienced. I said that's fine but I like the one I asked for, and she told me he wasn't available for a couple weeks, but that another artist was. I asked to see his work, and she said he doesn't have a book yet because he's new, but that he's qualified. She eventually showed me a few pictures from Facebook. No disrespect, and I won't say his name, but dear lord I've seen better work done in garages. This dudes work work was sooo sloppy. She straight up said "his specialty is working really fast, and he knows how to shade". Ok maybe I've gotten lucky with tattoos in the past, but I expect an artist to know how to shade. After I left I was approached by a guy who was in the shop during all that. He told me that he also realized only one of the artists works being displayed was really good, and had set an appointment with that artist. He said he had a consultation with him and everything, but when the receptionist handed him the paperwork to sign the deposit he noticed she switched the name from the good artist he requested to the bad artist. Super shady. The place looks nice, but all you have to do is look at their portfolios to see they're pretty below average. I imagine they mostly cater to people who stumble in on a whim on vacation. I'd definitely avoid this shot. read more
