yk what, it sucks to be towed, and I was only off by 2 feet. but the receptionist at the Lehi yard was so fantastic and understanding and nice. As much of a stress it is, she made it as enjoyable as possible haha. a little goes a long way, and no matter what, I'm happy that I could have that kind interaction with her. tow yards will always have low reviews, but this tow yard, especially the Lehi area they have, made it seem less like a tow yard out to get me, and more of people that understood the trickiness. thank y'all ! (yes I did still have to pay full amount etc, there was no free tow haha but you get the point). read more

This place steals vehicles to collect tows. Then they charge 460$. We had a dealer case because the car with the sticker was in the shop. At 730 we parked in the garage for 15 minutes to unload vehicle and we seen them towing the car while we were outside getting ready to see family in Park City that came from Colombia. And we didn't get to go. read more

Parked near America first field for a concert, came back to an empty lot. $450 dollars to get my car back. There were no signs along the fence I parked at and I doubt there will ever be more signs since, concert nights is a "Payday" for them. This place is legal con operation, at least I'm assuming what they are doing is legal, I'm on vacation and don't have the time to check. But between the customer service comments and the $450 dollars fee... this place is definitely malicious and prey on people who attend the events here. read more

If I could give this company a negative review. They are the worst of the worst. On Friday Aug 28 my van was taken from my assigned place at my complex when I walked inside for 20 minutes to find tape to apply a current sticker when the current permit was clearly able to be seen if the driver had looked in the window. I first attempted to contact Legacy Towing at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 28, after I had time to cool off after discovering that my vehicle had been towed. Their telephone system was automated, and I was unable to speak with personnel to arrange release of my vehicle. Messages were not returned, and I was charged 438 dollrs for what should have been a 211 dollar tow. Since then, I have made repeated attempts to contact Legacy Towing. I left a voice message, called additional times, and sent emails on Saturday and Sunday requesting assistance regarding my vehicle. I have received no response that has allowed me to arrange its release. On Monday, August 31, I called Legacy Towing again. The telephone system was still automated. When I specifically requested a live agent, the system stated that it was transferring me. Instead of reaching an employee, I was transferred to a recording that stated: "This is just a test number. Go back and get an actual number and try again." My vehicle remains in Legacy Towing's possession, and storage charges continue to accrue despite my repeated attempts to contact the company. My understanding is that Utah Code §72-9-603(19) requires a tow truck motor carrier or impound yard holding a vehicle from a private-property non-consent tow to make personnel available by telephone 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and to make personnel available to release the vehicle to its owner within one hour after the owner calls. I am concerned that Legacy Towing's automated telephone system does not provide the access to personnel required by this provision. I have repeatedly attempted to contact the company since Friday and have been unable to reach personnel or arrange release. I am also concerned about the charges being assessed. I have been quoted approximately $438, plus approximately $45 for each additional day of storage. My vehicle is a Chevrolet Astro van and is under 10,000 pounds. I have not yet been provided with an itemized invoice explaining these charges, or a consumer bill of rights. I have filed a complaint with UDOT, and I am requesting that UDOT investigate: Whether Legacy Towing's telephone and after-hours release procedures comply with Utah Code §72-9-603(19). Whether Legacy may charge storage fees for periods during which I was actively requesting access to and release of my vehicle but was unable to reach personnel. Whether the approximately $438 initial charge and continuing storage charges comply with Utah's 2026 non-consent towing fee limits. Whether all other required procedures for this private-property non-consent tow were followed. I have watched these trucks patrol our parking lot constantly, following people and taking vehicles when they leave. They don't comply with Utah law, overcharge, and refuse contact when requested. I would anyone else stuck in this nightmare I would recommend documenting absolutely everything. File complaints with UDOT and the BBB. Normally I would not give such a negative review but these people are so crooked and unethical in my opinion they shouldn't even be in business. Almost every review says the same thing, so I will add mine to the pile. read more

My car was towed while in my OWN parking spot simply because my permit was not on top of the dash board, but clearly still visible from the side window by the console. This is a clear scam tactic used by a mutual agreement between the apartment complex and this towing company to make profit off their residence. It cost me $360 for the tow which if ASTRONOMICALLY high compared to most tow companies. I live only 2 blocks up. I was extremely nice the entire time and didn't give a single problem or attitude when I picked up my car because they said "if you can see the permit from the window we'll most likely drop the charge", so we walked over to my car and I pointed it straight out to them only to be met with a follow up email that my appeal was denied. Absolutely ridiculous company, that will lie to you just to make it seem better in the moment. read more

Actually the worst experience ever! We went to go see a Zach Bryan concert and we parked at Trader Joe's in salt lake thinking it would be a good idea for free parking and then take the trax to the stadium. We get back from the concert to find the whole lot empty because they were bringing in tow trucks all night for their "pay day." We end up getting a ride from someone to go to the towing place that is 15 minutes away by freeway to get our car. We were there after hours so they charged me an additional $75 on top of what I already paid. This is a scummy company and it is genuinely awful what they do. My concert turned into double what I paid for tickets just to get back home. read more

ZERO STARS! WORSE TOWING COMPANY EVER! Towed my vehicle because 2 numbers were transposed on the digital permit.

I wish I could go back to who I was before i had the misfortune of interacting with this "company". Due to the predatory parking practices of City Loft Apartments, I had to collect my car with a $75 "after hours" fee attached to the $400+. mind You, my car was taken after hours. But to get it back, I have to pay additional fees. The human working at the desk wouldn't know kindness if it hit her in the face. I went to out of town for 3 months to help with family matters, during this time my apartment complex inforced a new policy that you are to have an issued sticker visible in your windshield, if not you will be towed. I had no one to come get the sticker to put on my car & notified my apartment of this. Long story short - I came back home & my car was towed. Thankfully they we're understanding of the situation & released my car to me with no fees. Thanks again! read more

Legacy Towing "ACCIDENTALLY" towed my vehicle from MY PARKING SPOT AT MY APARTMENT complex where I have lived for the past 2 years even though I HAD A VISIBLE PARKING PERMIT on my vehicle. I went to my car this morning to drive to work, and it was gone. I almost made a police report because I thought my car may have been stolen. I called Legacy Towing multiple times around 8am and no one answered- the phone would sit on ring for 10+ minutes before anyone would pick up. Two times someone answered and hung up on me before I even said anything. Finally, when I got a hold of someone at Legacy Towing, they told me they impounded my car last night. The reason they stated for towing my car was that I did not have a parking permit on it which is false- I had a visible parking permit on the vehicle. They admitted it may have been a mistake on their end and that I need to pick up the car from their lot to get it back. I was late for work (due to my car being towed), and I spent over $50 in Ubers to get to work and pick up my car from Murray. I spent over an hour driving to pick up my car, waiting in line at the lot, and then driving back home. They did not charge me to release my car, since it was an accident, but I feel there is no excuse for their action. I never got an apology. This whole situation caused me extreme stress. They wouldn't even tow my vehicle back to my apartment complex. Nor did they offer to reimburse me for my uber rides. If Legacy Towing would have simply checked for the parking permit, this would have never happened, and they brushed it off as if it was not a big deal. This is a HORRIBLE business. read more

Ai nightmare. Car towed? Good luck getting a hold of a real person to talk about it - and then you have to make an appointment if it is after hours and on the weekend which is generally an hour or more out. We parked to visit my parents and the rules were confusing - it was our fault eventually - but talk about a complete disservice to even be able to retrieve your own vehicle. They've been in business for 21 years, they have a F-rating with the Better Business Bureau, and still exist as a company lol We should all aspire to such greatness. But let's be honest, only a towing company could pull off such a thing. What are we going to do? Not shop there? Are there people shopping around to see which tow truck company will tow with no-consent for a better rate than the other? Of course not. That's why tow companies can do whatever they want. Being rude is not a crime. It's bad business, but who cares? They're not looking for your business. Not in a consensual manner, at least. So yeah, I realize that writing a review on Yelp is stupid and a waste of time, and filing with the BBB is much the same, but what can you do, right? They're a towing company, so what would you expect? But at the very least, they should be able to produce written documentation on their own company policies instead of telling me to "Google it" lol Yeah, I'm not kidding. Karen, the lady that works there, told me she doesn't need to waste her paper printing it out for me when I could just Google it and she would be happy to show me where to find it if I go there to their lot. So she doesn't want to waste a sheet of printer paper, but wants me to waste my gas? Do you know how expensive gas is right now, Karen? You should! You charge a fuel surcharge! But I'm just saying. Don't tell me it's okay to bring my friend on over to pick up his car, and then on the way, tell me he needed to give a two hour advanced notice for the appointment you should've already made. And then when I call the next day, you don't know the company policy, but then tell me you do, after Karen gets upset with you for saying that, and it's now only an hour of advance notice, even if the car is already located on the lot. And for the record, even if my friend was illegally parked in a parking spot at my apartment building, with a parking permit, it really is confusing to know where to park. My apartment building shares parking with a coffee shop, the leasing office, and a weed dispensary--yeah, I know! In Utah! So yeah, it's confusing. But yeah, my apartment is located next to a dispensary. Probably why the tow truck driver just happened to be in the neighborhood, I guess. read more

They were rude and obnoxious on the phone. I went to salt lake to support Utah and this is what I got. We actually went into Trader Joe's and spent money and this is what I get. Got my car towed from the visitor parking at Turnberry apartments in Millcreek at 12pm. The sign was hidden behind a bush. I was there for less than 3 hours before getting towed. I then went to pickup my car. As I was asking basic questions the man said "this isn't 100 fucking questions" I then asked if I had to sign the paper even after I had payed. THESE PEOPLE ARE CRIMINALS!!! Worst towing company ever! I parked my car inside the parking garage of my apartment complex which I reside at & not even 12 hours later my car was illegally towed. When I called the towing company they stated that they didn't see a parking permit in my car so that's the reason why it was towed. I let them know that towing the car without warning was against the apartment complexes policies and that a paper warning should've been issued prior to towing the car that was only sitting overnight. They made light of the situation & ignored the fact that they failed to provide a warning prior to towing the vehicle. The towing company stated that it's an issue I need to take up with my apartment complex & not their company. Prior to picking up my car, which was towed prior to 9:00am (that's when I found out it was towed), the company was very rude about how I would go about picking it up. They kept stating that my name would have to be on the registration of the car & if it wasn't then I wouldn't be able to pick up the car. That wasn't a problem, considering it was my car with my name on it, so I had no issues there. My only complaint is that even though my car was towed illegally, I still had to pay $300 to get it back from the towing company. No apology, no kind service, not very nice staff yet I had a $300 bill to pay for something that was done illegally BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! PS: you can't pay with American Express either read more

I have been towed twice since moving in (May this year) out of the parking lot with the parking pass in the car because my expensive legally purchased parking pass fell on the passenger seat of my car... I work at a community center for lower-income and had to pay almost $900 in fees as well as losing two work days trying to figure out how my car disappeared from the place I live. TAPE YOUR PASS TO THE GODDAMN WINDOW cause I'm sure they'd lie about it. Came home from my overnight shift this morning to find a vehicle in my assigned EV parking spot. Called Legacy, as they patrol my apt complex. 730 am. Told me I need to speak to my management company, so I did, they put in an order to tow from my spot at 8 am. I run an errand, come back at 1050 am, tow truck is driving away - no vehicle. I call and ask why he didn't take the vehicle. "Oh, because he forgot the fob for the gate, he's going to get it." I say, "well, if you call him to come back I'll let him in." I'm literally watching him drive away at this point in time, mind you. Get put on hold for 3 minutes and when she comes back "he's already on his way to another call, he'll come back after." So because the driver forgot that he needs a key fob to get into a gated community (no way, right), I now have to stay up another 2-3 hours for him to come back to get a car out of the spot I pay 100 bucks a month for, so I can charge my car to get to work on my overnight shift. What a bunch of rubes. Probably not going to be there when the tow guy comes back, which means they'll think it's fine and park there again, and I'll have to deal with this another day. I just moved to Utah and have been wondering "where are all the bad people?" Well, now it's clear: they're right here at Legacy Towing. I was towed without warning and they used a dolly to tow my AWD vehicle (an obvious no-no. Google it.) The towing resulted in a broken rear axel differential, which cost $1700 to repair on top of their already over-the-top $400 impoundment fee. I then contacted them to get their insurance, and they dismissively told me to get a lawyer. They've been unbelievably horrible. But given that they already have just one star on Yelp and Google Reviews with countless people talking about their unethical and predatory practices, I'm sure they won't care and will simply go back to preying on people. read more
