This was my basic inspo but I wanted a lot changed.
    Elvia A.

After moving from AZ back to CA I knew I wanted a tattoo to always remember my time there. I did a lot of research for an artist because I wanted to make sure that this was going to look amazing because it was going to be very visible(on my forearm). After month of looking into artist, I finally found one that I liked. Totto. I knew I had a trip coming up in October so I called 2 weeks before my trip and asked if he would be available. To my surprise, he was! I texted over some pictures of what I was kind of wanting as well as the placement, I was quoted and I took the appointment without hesitation. As soon as my flight landed I headed right over and met with Totto, I showed him my inspo picture but explained that there were some things I wanted changed...he took about 30 minutes to draw something up for me and it was perfection! I later found out that he is the shop owner which was no surprise because he is one talented person. This is a great place to drop in for a spur of the moment tattoo because they have plenty of guys in the shop working on their craft.

Big Thank you to this shop !!!! I came in for my nose ring coming out . The artist helped me out and put a new one in . This wasn't my location of getting my actual piercing done but with his kindness and quickness I'll definitely be coming back to get some ink done .

My forearm tattoo, decent size for $40.

So, my best friend & I wanted to do Friday the 13th tattoos. We finally found this place, it said no shop minimum, and we had our designs ready. Mind you, a majority of the designs they had, were near exact with what my friend requested, except hers were significantly smaller. They had a semi colon & palm tree on their $20 flash sheets, and the ones my friend brought in were even smaller than those. I got a decent sized forearm piece (approx 2.5x2.5), and a bigger piece above the knee (pics included for reference). My friend got a semi colon on her wrist (approx 1/8") and a palm tree on the other wrist (approx 1.5"). (Included her pics). He charged me $80 for both of mine, which I found pretty fair. However, he charged my friend the same price for hers, plus he got a tip on top of both. With mine, I paid $100 with tip. I think that was a fair price, considering the size like I mentioned. However, when I found out he charged my friend the same price & tip recommended, I about cried for her. It makes me sad to think that she didn't want to upset the artist by asking about the price hike, because she didn't want him to turn her away. It should always be OPEN communication, and while we understand the shop has the final say, his demeanor towards her is what really made her avoid confrontation. His wife sat behind both of us while he tattooed, and I do have to say that he was quite short & inattentive to my friend while she was visiting with him & getting her tattoos. I'm not sure if he's the owner, but having your wife behind your clients, especially women, made us both feel kind of awkward. It might've been better if she responded to our compliments on her ink or even had a friendly aura. She just acted really standoffish, almost as if she didn't want us getting tattooed by her husband. Maybe that's just me, but then again, I catch up on vibes pretty easily. I am not the type to complain, but I also want to make sure that it's brought up, so other customers and possibly the shop can reflect on what might make a customers visit a little less.......rushed & awkward. I will say I am happy with my forearm tattoo, and my leg tattoo will need a touch up in the future. But hey, it was Friday the 13th, we were excited. Also, when we got there (around 10:15am,) the shop had NO line, and there was 2 other customers in there (one getting a custom tattoo, the other most likely waiting on them.) We didn't have to wait, there was no reason to rush (the artist said they don't advertise Fri the 13th much, because they don't want it being super hectic or rushed.) I kind of wish I would've went a little different for her, otherwise we would've been happy to leave a 5 star. You just can't really expect to pay 5x the amount, for an even smaller design than their $20 pieces . I wish I would've known sooner, she didn't mention it until later that night because it was eating her up & she felt like she was taken advantage of with price..... I guess you live & you learn.

He also has excellent knowledge on what is even possible based on your ear anatom. Old West has a little room with a professional medical table/seat for piercings. I wanted a certain orbital but he said not only is my ear not as pronounced there, it's a very complex healing process. Luckily I had already researched Old West & liked another orbital picture they posted to Yelp so that one was my second choice & Torin was all over it! He measured & placed it PERFECTLY. Plus I got a flat piercing & he placed that perfectly as well in comparison to my other piercings. His commitment to health & safety is unmatched & both piercing are healing so well with the saline solution I bought from Old West. I came back exactly a month to get the shorter post needed for my flat and it was just such a pleasure to show Torin how great they both look! Each time I was in there were multiple people getting tats and the piercings are like back-to-back so this is definitely a go-to place for both. Thank you Torin & Old West! Pic is exactly one month from the flat & side orbital piercing - orbital is 16g 10mm ring & flat is 14g bezel Swarovski crystal, both purchased from Old West.

My grandson had his ears pierced about 3 months ago and decided that grandpa needed to match him. Little did he know grandpa had 3 holes in each ear up to over an inch, the about 5/8" and 3/4" for many years plus the other 5 or 6 he still had. A couple of the piercers had conversations with me to see what I wanted. Been 12+ years since any jewelry had been in my loobs. Kaydence either drew the short straw or decided my patent was an old guy, and said she'd deal with me. Turns out with all this new jewelry that has come out she was able to slide a 12 gauge in the bottom hole with no issues. Now mind you they will pull out without much effort as the large holes have not closed up. We talked and decided to give it a try anyway as it's my 72 bday on the 23rd and I wanted to match my grandson. I leave out of state and might swing by on my way home to explore a couple other possibilities. But if you are looking for your 1st piercing or your 10th, I can highly recommend Modern Mods in the Arrowhead Mall. I can say that watching all the piercers, they are professional, knowledgeable, they want you happy as does the rest of the staff. When I started getting pierced and tattooed I was all of 16. I've also done a lot of piercings back in the day and taken care of my daughter's friends who got infections because they failed to follow simple instructions. We are a family of pierced and fully tattooed individuals. So go see the people at Modern Mods and get pierced. You will be pleased that you did. Thank you all for your help, you are the best. Also their shop is very clean and each station is cleaned before the next person is brought in. I'd rate this shop as higher quality.

This store took what was supposed to be a positive experience and absolutely ruined it…read more I brought my 4 year old in here to get her ears pierced!! It was explained to me before her ears were pierced that the piercing for a child under five was $60, and that upgraded earrings could be purchased for an additional fee. There was one rack of earrings that was included in the $60, a rack of titanium pairs made the lobe piercings $100, and a rack of 14k gold sets that would make the lobe piercings $200. Turns out, the upgrades don't include the piercing. So the titanium upgraded set would've made my total $160, and the gold set made my total $260. Not a huge deal, but would've been nice to have known that upfront. Never, ever was $260 stated by any staff member. I'm fairly confident that this issue happens often, and that they're not clearly explaining it because before she put the earrings in my daughter, she even explained to me that the upgraded price would be $100 per ear. During checkout, the girl was so argumentative about the upgrade price, even though I was completely willing to pay for it that she didn't even give me any of the aftercare instructions for my daughter's ears.. She even argued with me about it AFTER payment had been made cutting me off and trying to explain why she was right. I'm not positive at this point why she didn't offer to go get a manager or supervisor, because that would've been the correct thing to do. She was extremely frustrated and projecting on both myself and my husband after we had already paid about the pricing. We left mid argument because we were so uncomfortable AND left a tip despite her absolute horrible customer service. One of the oddest things about this place is the way that they respond to reviews. Go look at them. Anything negative is instantly blamed on the customer, they take O accountability. They instantly blame the customer and try and make it seem like absolutely nothing that they did was incorrect or confusing. It's also worth mentioning, this store prides themselves on offering a 10% military discount, buttttt when we got to the front counter, it was only THEN explained that that 10% only comes off the "service charge". So instead of $26 off my daughter's ears, it was $6.. I highly suggest you find a different location for all piercings. Not only was the customer service, greatly lacking, but our piercer was rude, and upon leaving we noticed a pretty nasty gnat infestation.. wonder if the health department has been out here lately?

When I found out about Rowan, I was in! You can easily schedule your appointment on their website. It's about $50 for the actual piercing, you pay for the pair of earrings, I think mine was $40+ because I wanted my daughter to have 14k plated and hypoallergenic for her first time- duh! Worth the extra dollar, who cares. And I also bought the cleaning spray for after for about $20. Then you can tip if you desire. I requested that my daughter get the device piercings. And I requested that the nurses do both ears at the same time because I figured she would cry. And I Didn't want to walk out with only 1 ear done. The nurses wear gloves, everything is clean and they are pros this is what they do very day! They take the time to make sure you approve of the dot on the ears before they go for it as well! Moms: my daughter didn't cry until like after 5 seconds after the piercing was completed. It was a delayed cry. But once she took a breath and got a delicious lollipop from Rowan she forgot all about it! Also- there is a new Lego store across the street! Take them there after to play! This was a great experience and my Daughter can't stop looking in the mirror as her cute studs! Ps super easy to just park in the parking structure around the corner (across from Etta).
