Had the best freaking time at HTC uptown! I got my ear pierced at a tattoo shop downtown Phoenix and it hasn't healed properly in about nine months. My tattoo artist suggested I get better jewelry from HTC, so I did! Storm at the front was incredibly patient and helpful. She showed me all the jewelry that I liked in all the colors that I was interested in and let me hold each piece up to my ear. She chatted with me as if we were friends :) Torin was incredibly gentle removing the old and putting in the new jewelry. I felt extremely comfortable at HTC uptown and recommend to anybody who may be interested in a piercing or new jewelry. They also offer piercing check ups if you're experiencing any issues or have questions, they keep your order information on file so the specs on your jewelry can be easily looked up if you forget, and they offer replacements if the crystals in the jewelry fall out or it gets damaged. Such a horrible experience! My girlfriend and I came in looking to get some new piercings and a few new studs for our existing holes. We were greeted by the front desk girl and she was extremely rude right off the bat. Not sure what we did wrong but it seemed that we were the problem. She was helping another customer and was being super helpful and kind then wasn't treating us with the same compassion. After a minimum of 4 different off putting/rude comments we ended up leaving and not getting the jewelry or the services we came to get. My whole family and I have been coming to HTC for YEARS and have never received such horrible service. read more

i've always wanted a septum piercing but held off because i have terrible allergies and a deviated septum. well, i decided to just go for it one day. i was hella nervous about the pain and the piercing coming out crooked but the sweetie pie gentlemen at the front assured me Nicola was the goat & would take good care of me. when i tell you, this woman RADIATED baby angel energy...WOW. she took extra time, all up in my nose, to make sure the piercing would present straight; she asked how i was feeling, calmed all my fears & told me i was safe. and now i have the cutest, most perfect septum piercing (about 4 weeks out and healing wonderfully)! a 100/10 experience. thank you to this precious, kind, ethereal woman & the also incredibly helpful receptionist (I'm sorry i can't remember the name). i love my crooked nose now. read more

Was honestly very pleasantly surprised that I was able to get a same day piercing appointment at HTC! I've gotten piercings at their other location before so I already had great confidence in them. The shop is very beautiful with parking in front and in back of the shop. Long story short, I got 2 helix piercings for the first time at arrowhead mod in glendale a yr or so ago. It was my first time getting them pierced and the piercings kept on getting irritated. I contacted the old shop, and they kept waving me off saying this is normal. I decided to try out this shop instead to see if this is indeed normal. The lady here was incredibly kind and knowledgeable! She lets me know right away that the other shop shouldn't have pierced both ears at once, and that the jewelry/piercing was giving me an infection. She took them both out, and I was finally able to sleep in peace in what felt like forever. I will be sure to come back to this place for any piercings in the future! read more

I'm a stickler about getting my kids' ears pierced at a proper piercing place and not at Claire's by a teenager with a piercing gun ;) HTC came highly recommended from Yelp and Reddit. All of their paperwork is online, and there's a bit extra for minors. You must fill everything out before your appointment, but if you do it's smooth sailing. My almost-10yo is incredibly sensitive and was nervous as hell, but also determined to get her ears pierced :) Our piercer was calm and chill, and in the end Miss 10 said it hurt less than a shot! High praise indeed. Piercings were perfectly aligned (they used a ruler!!) and healed well. They advised on aftercare and it was easy - just saline spray a few times a day, no sleeping with wet hair. When it came time to take out the piercing studs, I couldn't get them out, so we went back and they were happy to remove them for us and swap out to regular stud earrings. It was a very quick process, and I'm so grateful they were willing to help even several months later (no charge, btw). Piercing is not cheap but it was worth it for them doing it right, as well as being able to come back to get help. They are kind, efficient, and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend! read more

I had the absolute pleasure of getting two microdermal anchors done at HTC Studios Uptown today. From the moment I walked in, I was extremely comfortable and confident that I had made the right choice to have my piercings done there. Nate greeted me at the front and was extremely friendly and helpful in assisting me with jewelry selection. The shop itself was extremely clean and I could tell safety and sterility of piercing materials is of the utmost importance to them. I was super fortunate to be pierced by Nicola, who was an absolute angel and MASTER of her craft!! I seriously can't say enough good things about her! I went in expecting to have to adjust the desired placement of my piercings due to some scar tissue from the dermals I had done elsewhere 8 years prior. She ended up being able to place them in the same spots and they came out looking even better than the first time (and I was VERY pleased with the first set, I might add) All piercings hurt, of course, but I truly felt that Nicola was able to use her skill and expertise to minimize pain and discomfort, making the process as quick and painless as humanly possible, without compromising quality in any way. HTC Studios Uptown truly has the whole package, from high quality human beings to outstanding piercing work. I scheduled my daughter to get her earlobes pierced by Effie. We arrived at HTC and were greeted by a friendly/helpful face. They were able to help us pick out the perfect piece of jewelry, preparing my daughter to be pierced by Effie. Effie was kind and very informative. Effie spoke to my daughter the whole appointment, making not only her feel comfortable and confident about her decision but myself as well. Effie allowed my daughter the time she needed before piercing as she was nervous. Not only do I appreciate Effie's patience, but I appreciate that Effie talked about consent and would not pierce my daughter without my daughter's permission; refreshing to hear that empowering attitude. Since 2017 I've had a total of 13 body piercings from HTC Studios, the majority done by Torin Vaughn and Marilyn Mena-Scott (before she opened her independent studio). Over that period I've referred several friends to the business and accumulated a fun assortment of body jewelry (Anatometal, BVLA, Buddha, Modern Mood, Pupil Hall, etc.), much of which I purchased directly from HTC. Periodically, I like to restyle my pieces. Today I made a jewelry insertion appointment at the uptown location and was immediately told by Nate at the desk that staff work for "a large corporation with very strict policies about what jewelry [they] can insert" (which I wholeheartedly endorse). Piercer Jojo refused to insert my piece because it is not currently carried by HTC. Both Nate and Jojo looked at the manufacturer website, which specified the piece as 14K gold and internally threaded, clearly appropriate for both body piercing insertion and autoclaving if those were the concerns. During the interaction, Jojo stated, "I can't get in trouble," multiple times. I asked if they could refer me to a different piercer or business that might be willing to insert my jewelry, and they could not. Luckily, I was able to get it in on my own at home, but I'm perplexed because I have never had this much difficulty at HTC before, and my hope was to continue supporting a local piercing studio. I'm leaving this single star review because I believe there's an opportunity here to maintain rigorous quality standards while still having good customer service and enabling some autonomy/critical thinking on the part of staff. read more

I have been wanting a 2nd lobe piercing for years now and finally decided to make an appointment. The piercing itself was very affordable ($30 I think), however the real cost comes from the earrings themselves. There are less expensive earring options than what I chose but you have to keep in mind that the earrings you choose will be in your ears for a number of months. I have multiple weddings that I will be in before the end of the year so I needed something a little nicer. Dylan was my piercer and he was incredibly sweet, caring, funny and sensitive to my concerns. I was nervous because I had not had a piercing since I was in grade school so he took me through a breathing exercise and made sure I was okay the entire time. The rooms are extremely clean, everything is sanitized and it's made an absolute priority. The piercing process was so easy, quick, and felt like a hard pinch. Dylan took extra time to make sure I liked the placement and that they would be even on both sides early on in the process too. I'm so happy with how they turned out! The healing process has been so easy and the HTC team told me everything I needed to know! I would highly recommend HTC and Dylan to any of my friends. Had a jewelry change today from Josh. Very friendly and personable. Explained the difference from what I had (4 years old) vs how the piercings are now. He was absolutely wonderful! My only constructive criticism would be to maybe have two people working the front area. One person (who was also awesome and friendly but I didn't catch her name) was having to greet people. Check people in (as well as picking our jewelry going over waivers etc) and check people out. It seems like it would be a lot smoother of a process if two people were up there. But that alone doesn't justify anything less than 5 stars! I just saw several people walk in, see the line, maybe wait a minute and turn around and leave. read more

We chose HTC because of the positive reviews. Seems they're great until there is a problem. I came in and paid for piercings for myself and two family members plus jewelry and gratuity. Within days, my earring ($350 piece of jewelry) fell off its post. I called about the jewelry guarantee and I was told "no problem, bring it by." I had a pleasant conversation with the woman who helped me. She told me I could expect it back within two weeks. While there, I bought another earring so the piercing wouldn't close and also added gratuity because she asked a piercer to come out and consult to make sure I was getting the right thing. I've now spent almost $1000 over two trips. Three weeks go by. I call and am told they'll call me back with an update. Nothing. I call again, this time I'm told it will be six weeks. I ask for a manager and get an email from Emily confirming it will be six weeks, and telling me I can wait or she'll refund it. I reply on May 3, detailing the entire experience and that I will give it the six weeks because I really want this piece of jewelry. No reply to confirm or apologize. I send another email on May 19th, no reply, and followed up with another phone message and email to Emily today. As of tomorrow it will be 7 weeks. Every time I reach out, it is some song and dance about having to email their jewelry manager in Oregon and they can't call this person for an update ???? To be clear, the piercer did a great job, but that's where the good experience ended. I do not recommend buying anything but the most basic jewelry here. Hoping to get this item back soon and get taken care of so I can re-review. As of now, I feel completely unappreciated as a customer and would not return. UPDATE: heard back today that the jewelry manager was traveling when my earring was sent to her and it was two weeks between me dropping it and her acknowledging receipt. The woman that called said she could offer a gift card (no way) or refund. At this point I got frustrated - can't anyone just tell me when I'll get it back - it's been almost two months?! She tells me it could be another month to a month and a half. I then tell her to just refund me and she tells me she has to put in a request with her manager and it will take one to two weeks to process. Why is everything so convoluted? I will be charging it back. Buyer beware. Oh, and still no apology. read more

Had my nose pierced back in September in Scottsdale and was traumatized. The piercer was so rough, it hurt so bad. I walked in to HTC and was greeted by Stormie who assisted me with choosing a diamond stud to replace the piercing stud. She was friendly and knowledgeable. I told her about my experience which she relayed to Rob. Rob made sure I was comfortable and instantly put me at ease. The transition was seamless and nowhere near as painful as I thought. Got my second lobe piercing redone (it had grown over) and my daith jewelry swapped out. I had an appointment for 1:30 and ended up waiting for about 45 minutes but I think they were having an issue with some software. My piercer Ariel was great! She explained everything and also fixed my right ear second lobe piercing placement, something that had bothered me for a long time.
