I think most companies receive their products from the same few dealers out of the area, so all of the other factors - sales, recommendations, follow-up, and installation are where Steve's really shines. Their salesman was a zero-pressure, information-forward gentleman who provided plenty of options and recommendations that would fit our front door and window setup. The front desk staff/logistics/admin were friendly, happy to chat with us, and flexible when it came to scheduling and planning. The installers are absolutely top-notch - these really feel like "local guys from the neighborhood" who care about making sure their work is here to last and be permanent. Just because the main offices aren't in Sacramento doesn't mean they don't care about each customer, regardless of where they're located. The final product is absolutely top notch, and we use everything on a regular basis. We get compliments and have sent friends to Steve's for referrals. It was his willingness to work around my schedule and ultimately by replacing 20-plus dual pane argon filled windows, without damaging my stucco and or interior wooden shutters. Jason replaced my windows by replacing the glass inserts without altering the frames! During this process (completed in one day)!!!! I decided to have him install two shower doors, a full size tub as well as full size walk-in shower. Both showers door's are of 3/8th thickness, very solid, high end product and with a crew of professionals to complete an accurate and one time install. Jason and crew are Pro's, personable, approachable and an honest hard working group of guys! Jason works with suppliers to reduce cost, expedite deliveries and fight for me when scheduling became an issue. Unfortunately, our warranty expired, so we were not able to get them to come out and fix it for us. Mike's Mobile Screen originally installed the security door. We reached out to them, but they gave us the run around for nearly a month. That's when we decided to reach out to Modesto Door & Window. We were unable to use our security door for a month. The mounting screws that attached the security door to our house were loose, and due to the size and weight of the door, when we opened the door, it would lean and nearly fall off! Colby came out to look at our door the following day after we contacted him. Before he did any work on the door, he emailed us his estimate which included materials, labor, and what he planned on doing. He cut the two top screws and added two additional screws. He removed some portions of the foam/trim of the door, reinforced the previous screws with liquid nail, and touched up the area where he worked on. It looks great, and most importantly, we are able to use our security door again!!! Don't look elsewhere for door and window service! Contact Colby and his team ASAP. You will not be disappointed!

I called Vortex and setup an appointment to have them repair it. Their tech replaced the parts that were needed ($279) but didn't clean up the oil/grease that was on the door. Big surprise was the $595 service charge that came in the bill. They charge $238/hr for labor and they bill from when their tech "leaves" the shop to when he "returns". According to my invoice, I was billed $238 for driving time 30 minutes each way. Hmm this was NOT disclosed when I setup the appointment and I basically paid them to advertise on the road. Only service company that I am aware of that charges for driving time. Needless to say I will not be using them again!
