Great local chocolates in St. Paul - the must try items are the spicy Mexican drinking chocolate and the Potion #9.

THEE best iced mocha in St Paul! I frequent this place when I'm in office and they just know how to do it right. I'm not a fan of really dark or bitter coffee and whatever cold brew they use had awesome flavor. Oh, and their cookies? Huge & out of this world. They're always super quick even when they're busy, too. read more

As a vegan it can be a challenge to go into a specialty chocolate shop and purchase high quality vegan goodness. however I noticed Legacy chocolates on my yelp list and had to stop in before my trip to the airport, so far I have not been disappointed. I purchased 6 packages of 68% dark chocolate bark coconut, expresso, walnut, plain, crasin and almond along with various Truffles for my Dad. Thus far I have eaten several pieces of the expresso chocolate and the flavor was very balanced without any bitterness. I am extremely pleased with my purchases. I'm looking forward to my next visit to the twin city, I'll stop and pick up treats for my management team. read more

Can't recommend their coffee enough. I usually get the decaf coffee. It's smooth, bold and dark. There's no sour taste. They've ruined coffee for me. For their goodies, my favorites are the strawberry brownie, carrot cake, and chai and cream cheese muffin. read more

Oh the nostalgia I had walking in here was amazing! Prior to COVID, this was a regular stop for me working downtown Saint Paul and since the shut down and remote work - I haven't been here in 3 years. I am very pleased to see it is still in business as many of the other shops nearby didn't make it. Legacy Chocolates has always been a polished establishment and still is. The staff wear white button up tops and greet every customer with a smile. Located within the skyway, there are various windows of the shop where one can see staff pouring, mixing and displaying chocolate which is a sight to see in itself. They offer varying cocoa percentages, a combo of iced / hot caffeinated drinks and teas and various gift items like tea tins, zip ups and ornaments. If you are craving anything sweet, don't even get me started on their cookies and bars - to die for. Come support this business if you can! It's a beauty. read more

First, the customer service is phenomenal. I called in 15 minutes before close and the lady on the phone was kind of enough to help me decide what chocolates would suit my tastes. She packed a box of twelve truffles for me, all personalized to my preferences, and they were phenomenal. The truffles were smooth, creamy, and had a wonderful snap. All the flavors were unique and wonderful. I'd highly recommend if you're a chocolate lover. I will update the review once I get another box for myself, which is soon. read more

If you are in St. Paul downtown, Legacy serves up an awesome cup of pour over coffee. The chocolates are decadent, albeit a bit pricey. I come here multiple times a week and have to make a trek, but the coffee is just that good to walk 10 minutes to get there. Chris and his team are really friendly, and it has that feel of a neighborhood coffee shop but downtown. Be aware that there is no seating available, but it's a short one block walk to benches at the park along the river. read more

Wonderful chocolates, and they make wonderful gifts. Each truffle is packed in it's own little cup, and the gift options are wonderful. It's skyway accessible in St. Paul. I have not yet had coffee there, but I see I of people there getting coffee, so I will need to do that soon. read more

I ordered a Christmas gift for my friend online and when it arrived, she refused it for some reason. It got returned to Legacy and it became quite an ordeal figuring out what to do with it. Chris at Legacy was wonderful. I eventually went and picked up the package myself and I am so glad I did. The treats are delicious and the customer service is impeccable. I am a fan for life! read more

Amazing amazing chocolate chip cookie! Probably the best I've had in all of MN!! Chewy, and crunchy, and doughy - really checked every box! I was in town for a wedding and like to try local coffee shops whenever I travel. Legacy Chocolates had great reviews so I thought I'd give it a shot. It is inside a building so it took me a second to find it, but I'm glad I did. I had an iced coffee with an 85% espresso truffle. The coffee was AMAZING! It had such a great flavor to it. The truffle was also really great. The 85% cocoa matched perfectly with the inside of the truffle to help cut the sweet. Mark, who was working was extremely personable and gave great customer service. I highly recommend this place and will probably go back this weekend! read more

LOVE IT!!! They have amazing everything. Love the truffles & cream cheese items! BEST CAPPUCCINO I've had at any coffee shop in St. Paul. This location is in the skyway downtown St Paul. Since the pandemic I've only been able to pop in a handful of times. They recently sold to a new owner (thanks pandemic) :(. Hopeful the quality and consistency continues. I have high hopes!! When it comes to their truffles and other treats - AMAZING!!!! But what I went there most often for, the coffee. They by far have the best quality coffee in downtown St Paul! Well minus TrueStone but that's Lowertown... they too have AMAZING coffee. If you ever find yourself downtown find this place!!! read more

It was my first time going in and the owners were super nice. They did a really good job of explaining the chocolate bark, coffee and truffles. We got a dozen truffles and they helped us understand the different cocoa levels and encouraged us to not be afraid to pick darker chocolates. Everything was super delicious and they were right, there's no need to be afraid of the 99% cocoa!! The truffles are soooo smooth and melt in your mouth. Store bought chocolate brands have been ruined for me in the best way possible!! Will definitely go again and I already have plans to give the truffles as gifts! read more

Loved everything about this place! Friendly chocolatier serving up high quality chocolates and baked goods. The ganache brownies were delicious. This place has a cult following for many people who work in downtown Saint Paul. The service is always so great! Even with the AM rush the staff is always so genuinely happy. The iced coffee is absolutely fantastic! The mochas (iced or hot) are some of the best around. The chias are good, but they do have a gritty texture to them so I am not totally sure about them personally but several of my coworkers absolutely love it. They have a vast assortment of chocolate truffles that can really match anything that you are looking for. read more

There's something just magical about this place. Between the delightfully cheery staff (NOT to be confused with fake) staff, the delectable treats (if I weren't on a perpetual diet, I would eat their brownies on the daily), and their coffee, the place has earned a very special spot in my heart. Legacy is known for their truffles. They range from 41% (milk chocolate) and goes up to 99% (the darkest chocolate). I'm a pansy and prefer the 41%, but my coworker cannot get enough of the 99%. Within each percentage of cocoa there are different varieties (if memory serves me right--it's an extensive spread of about 14!) I'm a certified addict of the 41% Himalayan Caramel. If you like Sea Salt Caramels...you won't be disappointed. Also, none of their treats are not concocted with anything fake (i.e. high fructose corn syrup), so every small indulgence seems a little less naughty. The cream cheese brownies are to die for. I was running around my office cutting off sections of my brownie because I felt it was too good not to share the experience of tasting something so divine! Skip your morning Caribou or Starbucks routine sometime and check out this fantastic locally owned gem...you won't regret it and I'm sure you'll be back for more! read more

Tucked away in a sleepy downtown building, I was pleasantly surprised by the warmth and deliciousness waiting at Legacy Chocolates!! I found this little shop while trying to not get lost in the St Paul skyway. I needed caffeine and chocolate so I chose the dark chocolate bark with espresso beans and it was then that I became a big fan of Legacy Chocolates. The people working always seem genuinely happy to be there and are friendly and helpful. Since my first trip I've also tried a Mexican Brownie and a Cream Cheese Caramel Brownie and now I want ALL THE BROWNIES. The chocolate they're using in their concoctions is truly amazing. I love dark chocolate but it can sometimes skew too bitter but not here. It's rich and decadent but perfectly balanced. They have a large assortment of individually packaged truffles (I have yet to give them a try) and I don't drink coffee but I heard their pour-over coffee is incredible. read more

This place is literally a three minute walk from my office. I love everything that I've tried...the 41% chocolate truffles (Caramel, classic, Himalayan caramel, and double), brownies, hot cocoa, coconut smoothie, and ice cream. They make fresh, from-scratched baked goods. Their chocolate truffles are hand-dipped in four cacao intensities (41%, 68%, 85%, and 99%). If you walk by the shop, you can actually see them making it. I am usually greeted by the owner, Mark. Super friendly staff as well, and knowledgeable in what they do. Good thing I'm only in the office once a week, or else I'll probably OD on sugar. read more

This place is a gem. I got a hot chocolate, it's a perfect pick me up after being in the AC all day. I like that they ask for your preferences on the type of chocolate, dark or classic and type of milk 2% or whole. This drink was great because it wasn't overly sweet. Such a great place! Friendly service, great iced coffee and amazing treats! Always a mood lifter.

Discovered this place when staying at a hotel a few blocks away. Wish I had gone there the first day of my trip. I would have gone back every day! As it was, I visited 3 times over 6 days. The best chai I have ever tasted! Great desserts, coffee, and tea, much made right there using local ingredients. Staff is so helpful and knowledgeable. My one complaint is that I wish they were open longer hours, especially on weekends. But I guess everyone deserves some rest. Next time I am in St Paul, I am heading here. It is a tiny place, and easy to miss. But don't miss it! read more

Amazing. Best chocolate I have ever had. When you try it, its revelatory and you realize all the ever chocolate you have had your entire life was "less than". I just ordered 5 boxes to have shipped as thank you gifts to work supervisors and they sent them out the same day I ordered them plus with handwritten cards. Amazing! Will continue using them for all of my gifting needs. And visiting them to fulfill my oersonal cravings. The cake and brownies are a must try! read more

Legacy Chocolates is amazing and I LOVED their products from day one. As chocolate lovers and big fans of Legacy Chocolates my husband and I chose to have their truffles as our wedding favors. They even helped us design/print personalized stickers with our names/wedding date and package the truffles in elegant white boxes. I would definitely recommend Legacy for a daily treat, and definitely keep them in mind for special events! read more

The service is excellent, the chocolate is yummy and the coffee is divine! Let me first preface this by saying that I am not a coffee fan but the kind fellow at the counter swore that it was smooth and beyond satisfying. Me, never wanting to lose out on a good challenge, accepted his promise and purchased myself a white chocolate mocha. To accompany my chocolate, I also purchased two truffles; both 41% milk chocolate with one being caramel pecan and the other mint. The staff that assisted me was enthusiastic and confident in their product, handing me one whole truffle to taste. The flavor I sampled was their Himalayan Caramel truffle at 85% dark. Though my mood was particularly itching for milk chocolate, the dark practically curbed my chocolate craving. Appearance of Treats: 4/5 - Their chocolates, brownies, coffee and cakes were simple, delicate and appetizing. Cleanliness of Shop/Atmosphere: 5/5 - Bright atmosphere with everything shined to display their delectable goods. Chocolate: 3.5/5 - The chocolate is good and I would eat it if it were presented to me. All in all, the notes of their chocolates are well rounded but not the best I have had. *But* unlike many other chocolate shops, Legacy's is fair trade and hand-crafted on site. Plus, the truffles left me with a chocolate rush rather than the dreaded sugar rush. So much win. Coffee: 5/5 - My God, their coffee is prodigiously smooth! The aroma was heavenly, the flavor was evolving, it went down so smooth it was like taking gulps of godly tears of joy and the finish - oh, my gosh, the finish - to call it miraculously satisfying would be an understatement. Service: 5/5 - The fellow behind the counter welcomed us into his shop as though he worked in the best place on earth surrounded by the love of chocolate. His genuine joy and laughter was intoxicating. Plus, he was knowledgeable about his product and what I was looking for. I will return soon to try the brownies, cake and whatever else I can taste while I am here. This place is highly recommended by me and will not disappoint. read more

I can't believe I just found this shop. I am such a dark chocolate snob and they met and exceeded my expectations with the 85% bark. So blasted good.
