Family friend, Tom D. was traveling from Michigan to Pleasanton, CA when he had a major engine problem with his dura max diesel. Bought a f250 and the very next day it broke down. I called left coast diesel and they told me they were so busy that they didnt even have the room for me to drop my truck off let alone check it out that day. I explained my situation to them and told them i need to find out whats wrong with the truck asap to determine it i need to return it or not. They told me to bring it by and had me back on the road in less than 3 hours with a new fuel pump. Highly recomended shop! read more

I brought my '05 GMC 2500 HD to Robert for repairs and was told I needed a new engine due to a blown head gasket. It was not the news I was hoping to hear but it is what it is as they say. Robert gave me some options and I decided to get my own engine from GMC for the best warranty, cost me a bit more money but I plan on keeping the truck so I bit the bullet and went with it. They installed my engine and I'm back on the road, had some additional repairs done while there that I had some problems with & Robert said "get it back in here and lets get it fixed as soon as you can." I did and now its been approximately one year since the repairs and all is good. I recommend this company not only on initial repairs but any warrany work I needed they were all over it. I have been a customer of left coast diesel for over a decade. I have always trusted in their ability to keep my trucks running perfectly. Recently I brought my 05 Cummins in to upgrade the front end steering linkage, sway bar, and stabilizer with upgraded parts. Don't understand the reviews that say they can't get a hold of Left Coast -- I called them and talked to a tech about the work I wanted to do and how he would handle it and then talked to Anthony who does the estimating. Anthony and I had numerous emails back and forth to nail down the details and get a tight estimate (which they came in less at the end, btw). I live over 120 miles away from Left Coast but had a recommendation from a Ford forum that these guys are experts on the truck engine I have which is a 6.0 Powerstroke. We had to arrange everything well in advance as I brought my own parts (many businesses are NOT cool with this) and had to arrange accommodations and getting back and forth from there. The scope of the work had Left Coast completely cleaning my coolant system for a different type of coolant and dis-assembly of pretty much the whole top-side of the motor and replacing/upgrading parts. Not only did they do an excellent job on the in-scope work, but they also did extra things they thought should be done! My truck has never run this well and I bought it brand spanking new! There were a number of Fords of different years and a couple of Dmax's when I dropped off the truck and then a bunch of Dodges when I picked my truck up. Obviously these guys have techs that have expertise across the board of Light Diesel truck manufacturers. I highly recommend this shop for your diesel needs and would trust them for anything from routine maintenance through full builds. They even have an in house transmission tech and were doing a full bullet-proof Sun Coast trans build (suweet). I could go on and on -- these folks are friendly, honest, know their stuff, and yes are busy, so if you can schedule your work I'd recommend it. Brought our 2004 Ford F-250 to Left Coast in 2013 after blowing the head gaskets. We asked around and Left Coast did a great job of promoting themselves so we chose them to service the truck. We wanted to ensure this fix would last and up opted upgraded the head studs, oil cooler & the bullet proof EGR cooler out of pocket. We thought we were set and were satisfied... for almost 3 whole years (sarcasm). Well, lo and behold, the head gaskets blew again a few weeks ago. Took it into a local shop here in Napa, where it was discovered LCD did not surface the heads OR install the bullet proof EGR cooler, and instead replaced the EGR with OEM. In other words, a $9,000 repair was done incorrectly, and Left Coast Diesel is shady as hell. In addition, we paid for them to rebuild the high pressure oil pump and install an upgraded oil cooler. I can't believe we were completely raped by this company. I'm incredibly disappointed and shocked they are in business if this is how they operate. This is not an accidental oversight, this is fraud & I would bet the fact that our warranty company paid for $7k of the work has something to do with it. We will be in touch with the warranty company so they can pursue reimbursement as well!!! read more

I started going to the Concord shop approximately 7 years ago. Spent about $6,800.00 for bullet-proofing my 6.0 liter Ford diesel. Things went pretty well for a few years except for a couple of injectors and an EGR valve. At the time this happened, I was glad that they had opened up their new Livermore shop because I also worked in Livermore - so drop off was super easy. Last year, when my high pressure oil pump went out, I immediately had it towed to Left Coast Diesel. They said they replaced the pump and sent me on my way. 3 days later, I got codes saying there was a problem with the high pressure oil system - so I drove back over and dropped it off. 3 days later, I went to pick it up and found the seats greasy and there were multiple dents in the fenders. They apologized and had the seats cleaned and dents removed. Then the codes came on AGAIN! When I took it back again,they said I needed to rebuild my engine, a mere $15,000.00 that they would be happy to do. Finally decided on getting a second opinion and took it to P&G Automotive I n San Jose. He tore down and tested the oil system and came back with no issues and said this engine should be good for 300,000 to 400,000 miles (great news since I only put 170,000 miles on it!). Needless to say, I was very happy at the outcome. You be the judge and be careful dealing with these people. read more

Don't waste your time.... I had over $7000 worth of work done and had to bring my truck back several times for them to finish the job right... Then I recently brought it back for a diagnoses because it wasn't running right and for an oil change and fuel filter change.. They not only told me nothing was wrong but the total came to $450... For a diagnosis of nothing and an oil and filter change.... On top of that the sales guy has no clue what he's talking about and he won't give you a total till you go pick up your vehicle.. Oh did I mention I left it there all day and stopped by at 3 pm because I hadn't received a call, and the tech assigned to my car was working on his own personal car while mine still sat outside untouched... Besides the weird unfriendly looks I got when I entered the office, like I was a solicitor and not a customer, the job they did on my '01 Dodge was good and bad. The Air Dog fuel system and exhaust manifold they installed came out nice. The Edge Juice programmer was a different story, they couldn't get it to shut off with the ignition. After having the truck for weeks they finally gave up and had me come get it. Basically I have to unplug it every time i turn the truck off so it won't drain the battery. This was a $1000 programmer + labor, not to mention the other work, and they just told me to take a hike. I also had a power steering leak that they quoted around $650 to fix. I thought the previous owner of my truck told me it had recently been done so I took it to Timmon's Auto & truck repair in Walnut Creek where they charged me $2 for a bolt that had backed out and was missing, never leaked again. I've had a few friends that had their trucks miss-diagnosed by Left Coast as well, so I guess it's hit or miss. Really something to think about as you see some other horrible reviews, the dealers aint any better either...... read more

Got a Diesel rig that needs work done to it, then these are the guys to do it. All the guys that work there drive big diesels and that's what they live to work on. They are all very friendly and very helpful. I bought a used Ford super duty a few months ago out of state. When I got to town I brought it in and had them tune it, and change all the fluids. They charged a few hundred less then a ford dealership would, and they were fast about it. I didn't have a ride out of there so I waited in the shop. One of there guys was nice enough to ask if I wanted a sub from the deli he was going to for lunch, I thought that was pretty nice of him. So I had a great sub and a ice tea while waiting for my truck. They also have a automated email system that will email you around the time it should be time for a oil change. These guys do more then just basic diesel work. If your looking to add on aftermarket stuff, then go it and talk to them. They will set you up in the right direction for a great build up. And if your in the LE profession they will cut a little off the end price. All and all these guys were great, honest, and worth the cost. read more

I don't know how everyone can give them a 5 star rating. I took in my truck on a Friday and got a $3500 bulletproof EGR cooler block off and new fuel injectors. Then the truck breaks down on the following work day. They left me sitting in the truck till 7pm till a tow truck came, kept it for 4 more days, and I get it back on the Friday for an additional $2500. The truck is leaking oil, it's leaking antifreeze and I take it to the Livermore branch because Concord is incompetent. They fixed the oil leaks but it breaks down the next day again (the turbo hose popped off) and my employees are stuck on the San Mateo Bridge. LCD replaced the clamp but didn't tighten it! read more

A while ago I bought an aftermarket accessory for my diesel truck. Robert was very helpful in explaining all about how it works. Come to find out the product didn't work out but it was a Ford computer issue. Took it back and they exchanged it with one that worked no problem. A month later I had a major issue with my truck and had it towed to the dealership. Well after a complete debacle and hundreds of dollars later I decided to take it to left coast diesel remembering that in my conversation with Robert he made the comment that the reason he feels his shop is better than the rest is because they only specialize in diesel trucks with mechanics who are specialized in diesel motor repair. Robert ended up charging me $300 less than Hilltop Ford and had it back to me in a day and a half. While I was there I made a comment about how cool some of the trucks were that he had pics of on the wall. He then invited me to come to the shop after hours and watch some of those trucks perform Dino testing. Would have been pretty cool to watch 800-1000 HP trucks mess around. Unfortunately I couldn't make it but is shows the type of customer service you get at Left Coast Diesel. I highly recommend taking any Diesel motor vehicle you have there. Also if you call them and have to leave a message it's probably because they are talking to a customer. They give the costumer they are talking to all their attention. Leave a message and they will get right back to you. I was kinda putt off by having to leave a message a couple of times but after being there in person and getting treated like I was the most important customer they had, I can see why my call went to the answering machine. I brought my dodge into LCD suspecting I had a blown head gasket which would have been about $3,000 to fix. They truthfully diagnosed my truck finding a hose was leaking the coolant. I was talking to a guy about diesel service for my Ford F250. He told me about Left Coast Diesel and I had heard the name from another people who strongly recommended them. So my truck started giving me trouble just before I had to go down to Camp Roberts. The guys at the Concord site were awesome. I could not have had a better experience. They looked at my truck right away test drove then put it up on the lift, all this while I waited. The gentlemen in the office kept me in conversation the whole time while they did their work and the technician kept me informed throughout the whole ordeal. when it came time to pay I was told no charge. Theses guys are great! Not because they didn't charge me for services rendered but because the atmosphere was so pleasant and professional from the time I walked in to the time I walked out. I want to compliment Erik for going way out of his way to treat me well. I had bought a used Dodge 2500 diesel from a gentleman in Livermore who had new seals and brake pads on the rear wheels before I bought the truck. As with any repair things can happen and a few months after I bought the truck it started to leak from the rear wheels. I live about 300 miles north and didn't want to drive down to have them fix the problem even though the guarantee (1 year) was still in effect. I contacted them and it turns out this kind of mechanics guarantee only applies to the owner of the truck at the time of the repair. However, despite not owing me a thing, they essentially paid for the labor that was done by a shop close to where I live. (To the tune of $450). I think Erik and his boss really felt badly about their result and did what they thought was right. If I ever would need diesel truck work and lived anywhere in the Bay Area this is the shop I would immediately head to.. John V read more

I've taken my truck to them a few times now, this last time for an electrical short. They used to have some issues taking a week or so, not any more, my truck was ready the day the parts showed up. They are also the only ones around who seem to know what's going on with the older dodges. All and all a great shop, they charge a bit more than your typical guy, but seem to get it done twice as fast. I have owned a 2005 Ram 3500 4x4 diesel for a very long time and keep it in like new condition so as not to be inconvenienced on a fishing or hunting trip. @ 100K miles I took my truck in and had a perfectly good transmission rebuilt with the Goerend package because I read they are reliable. Well, not in my case, at 29,400 miles the tranny started loosing gears, park was like neutral and it was next to impossible to get out of park due to jamming in the throttle body (ape's fist). I have called 4 times and drove 3 hours down to the shop expecting support through the warranty with no success. It's been about 60 days, maybe longer that I've been calling, leaving messages and driving done in person wihtout any relief. The only thing I've heard is that the one transmission tech is out sick and there is nobody else that does transmissions. It appears there is no warranty if you spend many thousands of dollars on an "UPGRADE???". I've had 4 dodge diesels with stock transmision without a problem, this is my first experience trying to improve a stock. read more

Took my truck in for trans rebuild, never really shifted right after rebuild, now after only 14K miles its leaking so bad i can't drive it. 2nd truck was brought in for a rear main oil leak, on the way home the drive shaft almost fell off on the freeway because they failed to tighten down the center bearing support bracket. and it still leaks oil. 3rd truck went in for brakes, came out side swiped. read more

Is this Carmagetten or what? I could write a novel about this place but will keep it short as I can. Second oldest son 20 takes his Ford F250-2002 Turbo Diesel which incidentally he bought with his own money to this place to have a leaking water pump replaced. Gets a quote, drops the truck off on a Monday and it was supposed to be done by Tues or Weds at the latest per the quote. On Friday he calls as to the status of his truck as he does not have it back and they have not called. Oh we have been busy have not gotten to it maybe next week by Tues or Weds. On Monday we get a call from LCD that his truck has been stolen from LCD. We ask for their insurance info and they refuse to give it to us citing it's our problem or his problem as the truck was stored on their property but not in their shop. Called our insurance company and they had a totally different point of view. Truck turns up a day later in Pittsburg trashed, locks broken out, steering column shredded, tool box torn apart etc. Left Coast Diesel say's they can fix it all so he/we at this point have the truck towed back to them. Insurance adjustor comes out gives them a quote and one week estimate to make the repairs which they accept. One month later they have not even begun work on the truck. I go up there; my son and wife go up there and just get the run around. Finally the insurance adjuster goes back to Left Cost and they do about 90% of the work, collect all the insurance money and tell us they can't finish the rest of the work it's out of their scope. So we have the truck towed to Ford in Walnut Creek and pay another $900 bucks out of pocket to have the work completed. Definitely well worth avoiding this place. read more
