I was told that the temp crown coming off was expected for the position of the tooth and would be charged the next time I had to come in to get it back in. I'm going through the same process with another office on the same tooth and have not had the issue of the crown coming off. 3. Dental assistant and Dentist would squabble over me during procedures. 4. The front desk was not professional. The standard care at this place is not good. The Dr. Virginia Perez-Torrebela was not only unprofessional and rude but almost refused to numb me for my filings. Upon taking my impressions she instructed the receptionist to order a specific crown without consulting me first. I had to get up and let the receptionist know that was not the crown I was hoping to get. The entire procedure took so long I was only able to get two fillings and they told me to come back in 2 weeks when the crown was done to get the other 2 fillings done. Fast forward 1 month I hear nothing from the Apolline. Upon calling them to ask for an update they told me my insurance was denying the claim. I provided them with the info to my secondary provider and they told me they would open a claim with them. Fast forward another month (now two months with a temporary crown) the claim has still not been processed. I am now told that I owe additional money for the crown but when asked to email the amount and details they never email me. I call back two days in a row, once 10x in a row because nobody answered my calls and I was told there was a system issue and the email couldn't go through. Today, as I call someone on the other end of the phone still cannot tell me what I owe but then tells me the receptionist I was speaking to me has been LYING this entire time (his words btw). He tells me this is on her and there's nothing they can do. Apolline has demonstrated that they cannot properly care for patients health as they're dentists mistreat patients and receptionists lie to them.

At the appointment, I was told I had to pay the full amount upfront and would "receive a check from my insurance" later -- something no other dental office has ever required. Normally, the office bills insurance directly. That should have been my first warning. I later found out they are out of network, and of the $500 I paid for a basic cleaning and X-rays, my insurance only reimbursed $200, leaving me with $300 out of pocket. This same visit would have been 100% covered by any in-network dentist. When I tried to cancel my follow-up appointment after discovering all this, they attempted to charge an additional $100 cancellation fee, even though their own misinformation caused the problem. This office is not transparent and takes advantage of patients by misrepresenting insurance acceptance and then charging unreasonable fees. If you have United Concordia or any dental insurance, verify everything directly -- or be prepared for surprise charges and frustration.

So if this dentist office were like Grey's Anatomy, Dara would be Meredith Grey, and Dr. Joe would be Baily. I chipped a back tooth awhile ago and on my first visit Dr. Joe told me that I should probably get it filled, but that I could also just be really diligent about flossing and keeping it clean and they would just monitor it (that was 4 visits ago). Also, I've had this wonky whole in my gum since high school and NO dentists has ever even commented on it. Dr. Joe diagnosed the problem, determined it wasn't that big of a deal, but offered a procedure to correct it. Dental insurance is for suckers, so I pay OOP for it all. They're really good about working with me--like they'll give me a dental plan of action and the cost breakdown so I can kind of choose what I can afford in the future and budget for it. Also, they give free goodie bags after each visit (maybe it's built into the price) but it's nice because I haven't had to buy floss or a toothbrush in like, 2 yrs. Dr Ghanim does beautiful work and it runs in the gene pool. More impressive is his son, who was so young at the time - I think his name is Ali. I still talk about him to this day. He did the bulk of the work on me from initial exam, to deciding on a plan, to executing it. I originally made an appointment for Invisalign. I have an underbite that refuses to correct, after years of braces as a kid - Invisalign as an adult - the whole nine yards. The money I've spent on my mouth could rival years of college tuition. Ali and I ultimately settled on replacing my veneers and the result was an unbelievable improvement while being incredibly natural looking. He's a serious artist, carefully cloning the color and shape of my teeth to transform them with the latest and greatest material (when I first got veneers, it was in 2003 - basically cement!) It's so important to feel comfortable with your dentist and I went with Arlington Dental Excellence because of him. He really talked me through every step and the end result was flawless. It was apparent something had changed about my face, but it wasn't outrageously obvious. It's no exaggeration that someone compliments my smile once a month, minimum. The two other dentists that saw the work that was done both claimed that the dentists here are negligent. Standard root canal procedure was not followed including- -Cementing my crowns so that they connected my two molars so I could not properly chew or move them and also causing cavities. -Not properly polishing after the root canal leading to food getting easily caught and causing large build ups of tartar. -Unnecessarily incredible painful drilling that lasted 2 hours + for one root canal. The numbing agent barely worked. I asked for more but it barely numbed. -They did not isolate the tooth when doing a root canal, which is against root canal procedure. -Either they did the root canal on the wrong tooth or they failed to see the tooth next to it also desperately needed a root canal I do not write this review lightly. I am solely writing this since the negligence affected me so much that I do not wish for any other person to go through such an absolutely awful experience like I did.

No wait, better than good. He's freaking GREAT. The day I met Dr. Wenk was one of the worst days of my entire life. I was biking quickly down a steep hill in Georgetown when my brakes locked on loose gravel. At the bottom of the hill the road ended and the bike crashed into the sidewalk at high-speed. Unfortunately, I broke the fall with my face. Sometime later a woman in an SUV came driving by and jumped out. She told her kids they were taking a detour and placed my bloody messy self in her passenger seat. When we arrived at Dr. Wenk's, he was in the middle of a staff seminar but decided to postpone it, instead devoting the rest of the afternoon to putting humpty dumpty (me) back together again. After x-raying my jaw to look for fractures, he and his incredible staff gently cleaned away all the blood and debris before spending the next 4 hours reconstructing my teeth. I couldn't speak but they made sure I could communicate with them anyway and that I understood everything that was going on. My lip had split open but Dr. Wenk opted to tape it closed without stitches so I wouldn't have a scar. That was four years ago and I've been going to him ever since. At all times he is calm but realistic, easygoing but professional. His dental practice also goes out of its way to keep current with up-to-date techniques and technology. When my dental nerves act up from the accident, Dr. Wenk is a phone call away. He won't recommend any procedure he doesn't think you really need. I get postcard and phone reminders to come in for my cleanings, which are thorough, efficient, and fast. Also, though it's a busy office and people come in just twice a year, his staff recalls everyone's teeth with remarkable detail (crowns, fillings, sensitive gums - they remember it all). As I lay barely conscious in her passenger seat, I remember my SUV 'guardian angel' had told me she was taking me to the best dentist in the world. She definitely wasn't lying.

I finally broke down and called Dr. Arbuckle because a coworker had recommended him. I explained my issue and the amount of pain I was in and he immediately squeezed me into his schedule. Dr. Arbuckle started the procedure by administering laughing gas and handing me the TV remote (there are TVs at every chair). A couple minutes later, I was feeling wonderful and I didn't care or feel any fear. I must have completely zoned out because next thing I knew, it was over. That's a perfect dental experience in my opinion! I have been going to Dr. Arbuckle ever since and have no need to look for a new dentist.
